## Silex Reviews
  ### 1. Fast to get started and easy to work with

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alen K. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Silex?**

I liked how easy it was to start prototyping with Silex and get the app up and running

**What do you dislike about Silex?**

With Silex being left behind and Symfony Flex becoming the recommended way to do things.

Silex will always have a place in my heart

**Recommendations to others considering Silex:**

As grate as silex is, going to a full framework is recommended, such as Symfony or Laravel

**What problems is Silex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick to deploy php websites, get the new ideas out to the world and ease of use.
combine that with Twig and you have a great little framework that can do pretty much everything

  ### 2. Silex simple and fast framework

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paweł M. | PHP Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Silex?**

It's a small framework that I've always appreciated for the simplicity and power it provides. It is perfect as an API for mobile applications or small websites. It has all the necessary components that ensure security and quick integration with databases.

**What do you dislike about Silex?**

Unfortunately, due to the introduction of the micro framework to symfony 4, it lost its importance. People have been using it less and less, and are using symfony, which has a much larger community.

**What problems is Silex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to create an API for a mobile application in a very quick and easy way. The download application made it possible to track runners who took part in the competition. In addition, there were many additional elements such as news, notifications, information about professions.

  ### 3. Is a simple working framework but with a deadline of existence

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luís B. | Full-stack web developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Silex?**

His simplicity and low footprint.
Is a micro-framework, and as such, very close to PHP, with the minimum needed for what we expect from a MVC framework.

**What do you dislike about Silex?**

The biggest downside is her end of life was in June 2018. This way his use now, for new projects, make not to be the best choice.

**What problems is Silex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A backend application for a SPA app. His low footprint with the least needed was the biggest benefit at the time it was created.
But at the moment, I would choose Symfony 4, which already has the minimum needed out of the box.

  ### 4. silex is stop development since june 2018

silex it's a micro framework which means small in size and easy to use

**What do you dislike about Silex?**

they stop development and recommend using symfony instead

**What problems is Silex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

actually i never use silex in production, just playing around with it coz in my work place, we use lumen or laravel as a base fw to use for our projects.
but actually it's cool and easy to use. i just don't have chance to use it in production.

  ### 5. Micro but powerful PHP Framework

Lack of community. Sometimes it is hard getting some help for the framework.

**What problems is Silex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was using Silex to build simple but powerful APIs for different applications. Very easy learning curve and great documentation for bootstraping simple projects. Even if project grows by time Silex can handle more complex projects and structures.

Fast and flexible and you can easily migrate to Symfony from it if it is necessary. Best performance for high load microservices.

**What do you dislike about Silex?**

Sometimes it looks like you are building your own Symfony) It will be better if Silex has the opportunity to connect Doctrine without troubles and something else like this. Controllers. You need to realize them by yourself so it takes time.

**Recommendations to others considering Silex:**

Use Symfony4 because it is outdated

**What problems is Silex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 14. Great micro-framework for small applications

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vincent C. | Tech Lead / Architecte, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Silex?**

This is a really a great micro-framework for writing small applications with only a few pages or like middleware APIs.

The main benefits are that it is based on the Symfony framework which is a full of quality framework and decoupled in multiple components that you can re-use independently on your applications.
There is also a lot of Silex built-in providers that allows to use these components into Silex such as Twig, Asset management, Doctrine, Form, Translation, and much more...

Finally, in the case of a micro-application that only do one single job, you can write your Silex application in only one PHP file.

**What do you dislike about Silex?**

It's a micro-framework so you have to define your project structure yourself, there is no really best practice to organize your things, it's up to you.

You cannot use Symfony bundles into Silex as it is not bundled with Symfony Config component and mechanism that could allows that.

**Recommendations to others considering Silex:**

Find out what are the main features you need into your application and have a look if you have all the providers you need in order to make sure Silex is a good response to your needs.

**What problems is Silex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Writing high-performances and small applications and also micro-service applications that could be APIs for example.

Problem solved for me are really based on performances because you don't have to load a lot of libraries as it is done on a lot of frameworks. Here, you only load providers you need into your application.

  ### 15. Awesome Framework

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victor Henrique R. | Diretor técnico, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2016

**What do you like best about Silex?**

The best is the simplicity off course. Very light framework. Best framwork i ever used.

**What do you dislike about Silex?**

Controllers. I miss the controllers. We can setup them after, but i guess it can come with them. Or an cli command to build up some skeletons like Phalcon PHP ou Laravel.

**Recommendations to others considering Silex:**

Just give it a chance. You won't regret it!

**What problems is Silex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Silex made my development very productive. After Silex, i can make any hostsite or simple api in a few hours. Simple to configure, and initialize. We can use with shared hosts using a simple htaccess file.

  ### 16. A perfect php framework to build RESTful API

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matteo M. | Studente, Education Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2016

**What do you like best about Silex?**

Silex is the best micro framework php I've used for several reasons:
- it is very simple to create a simple rest api for your application, even if you are new to web framework;
- it has no dependency with all the stuffs involved in the other web frameworks;
- you could create a simple web service or a complete application writing all in one file;
- it is fully compatible with useful ORM such as Propel or Doctrine;
- it supports Twig out of the box;

**What do you dislike about Silex?**

In Silex lot of Symfony bundles are not compatible.

**Recommendations to others considering Silex:**

Read docs! :P

**What problems is Silex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Web applications, RESTful API service
