## SCO UnixWare 7 Reviews
  ### 1. Rock-solid stability for legacy enterprise environments.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SIMON K. | I'm a Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2026

**What do you like best about SCO UnixWare 7?**

Its scalability and robust multi-user capabilities are still impressive for handling heavy database workloads efficiently

**What do you dislike about SCO UnixWare 7?**

The user interface feels quite dated compared with modern standards.

**What problems is SCO UnixWare 7 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us maintain older but vital business applications that require a stable Unix environment.

  ### 2. Supported UnixWare 713 & 714 Before the IBM Debacle that led to the demise of SCO

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henry M. | Founder henryomiller.com, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2024

**What do you like best about SCO UnixWare 7?**

The flexibility of UnixWare was one of its primary features. Released in 1999, it brought together technologies from SCO System 5 and NetWare Technologies from Novell. The UnixWare 713 was supposed to be the flagship operating system when it was first released. Along with the release, course material was also released with the product for support technicians, developers, engineers, system administrators, and a study guide for ACE certification. I still have the complete Education materials System Administration 1 & 2 and the Networking Administration guide. Installation of the product is quick and well-documented. It was also backward-compatible in that many different installation options were available. As the last Support Manager before the shutdown of SCO, 24x7 support was available for all releases of UnixWare.

**What do you dislike about SCO UnixWare 7?**

There was not much to dislike about the product and how it was released. The product was initially well-received. However, integration issues with other Unix variants and Linux have already been established and used in major companies in their server and enterprise environments.

**What problems is SCO UnixWare 7 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UnixWare is now sold and distributed by Xinuos. The product was designed to take UnixWare into the Enterprise business space and compete with other operating systems like Linux and AIX. As a product it was unable to compete with OpenSource and Linux

As a computer systems analyst, I can fully appreciate the design, innovation, and technology behind this software. This software is highly revolutionary and literally, changes the way users apply it in the different aspects of their work.
I specifically like the fact that IBM has taken a leap in designing the operating system with everything in place.
One can find the area for systems compatibility
The area for compatible drivers with the OS
And the OS is flexible because it comes in CD-ROM as well bootable USB installation formats
