"SAP EWM Delivers Real-Time Warehouse Visibility, Automation, and SAP Integration"

4/5

What do you like best about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

What I like best about SAP Extended Warehouse Management is the level of visibility and control it provides across warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics workflows within a centralized platform.

Before implementing it, many warehouse processes were handled through disconnected systems and manual coordination, which created inefficiencies in inventory tracking, order fulfillment, and operational reporting. SAP EWM helped bring those workflows into a much more organized and real-time operational environment.

One of the biggest advantages for us has been the real-time inventory visibility and warehouse process automation. The platform improved accuracy in stock movements, inbound and outbound logistics, picking processes, and storage management, which significantly reduced manual errors.

We also appreciated the integration with the broader SAP ecosystem. Having warehouse operations connected with ERP, supply chain, and procurement workflows improved coordination across departments and made operational data more consistent.

The analytics and reporting capabilities also helped operations teams monitor warehouse performance, labor efficiency, and fulfillment bottlenecks more effectively.

Overall, SAP Extended Warehouse Management improved warehouse efficiency, inventory accuracy, operational visibility, and process automation across our logistics operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

One of the main challenges with SAP Extended Warehouse Management is the complexity involved in implementation and configuration, especially for organizations with large-scale or highly customized warehouse operations.

While the platform is extremely powerful, setting up warehouse structures, process flows, integrations, and automation rules required significant planning and technical expertise during implementation. The initial rollout was more resource-intensive than we originally expected.

We also found that the learning curve can be fairly steep for warehouse and operational teams that are not already familiar with SAP environments. Certain workflows and administrative configurations required additional training before users became fully comfortable with the system.

Another area that could improve is the user interface experience. Although the functionality is comprehensive, some screens and operational workflows feel more enterprise-focused and less intuitive for day-to-day warehouse users compared to some newer cloud-native warehouse platforms.

That said, once the platform was fully configured and warehouse processes were standardized, it delivered significant operational improvements. Most of the limitations we experienced were related more to implementation complexity and usability than the core warehouse management capabilities themselves. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SAP Extended Warehouse Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

SAP Extended Warehouse Management helped us solve several operational challenges related to inventory visibility, warehouse process coordination, and inefficient logistics workflows across our distribution operations.

Before implementing the platform, inventory tracking, order fulfillment, and warehouse activities were managed through multiple disconnected systems and manual processes. This created delays, inventory inconsistencies, limited operational visibility, and higher risks of fulfillment errors during peak operational periods.

One of the biggest problems was the lack of real-time visibility into warehouse inventory and stock movements. SAP EWM helped centralize warehouse operations and provided much more accurate tracking for inbound logistics, outbound shipments, picking, storage management, and inventory transfers.

The platform also improved warehouse process automation significantly. Earlier, many tasks such as picking coordination, replenishment tracking, and order staging required manual oversight and communication between teams. With automated workflows and real-time updates, operational efficiency improved considerably.

The analytics and reporting capabilities also helped operations teams identify bottlenecks, improve labor utilization, and optimize warehouse performance more proactively.

From a business perspective, SAP Extended Warehouse Management helped improve inventory accuracy, reduce fulfillment delays, strengthen warehouse visibility, and create a more scalable and efficient logistics operation overall. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Access with Unique Codes"

5/5

What do you like best about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

I like that everything has a special code and that I can always use it. I also like that I can create my own layout and set my own colors, etc. Compared to other systems, I think SAP is better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

don’t like that SAP can sometimes feel too complicated and not very intuitive. I don’t like that many transactions require several steps and it takes time to learn them. I don’t like that the system can be slow when working with large amounts of data. I don’t like that customizing certain functions often requires technical support instead of doing it myself. I can compare it to other systems that are easier to use and faster to learn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SAP Extended Warehouse Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

SAP Extended Warehouse Management helps solve issues such as inventory inaccuracy, inefficient picking, and a lack of visibility. Because of that, operations become faster, errors are reduced, and customer service improves. I also like the variant I can use every day to quickly find specific deliveries. "Reliable Pharma Inventory Management"

3.5/5

What do you like best about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

I really appreciate how the system handles batch management and expiration dates. In a pharmaceutical warehouse, this is critical. Creating new orders is very easy and intuitive, and the same applies to processing credit notes. Tracking stock levels and inventory is accurate, which prevents errors in our daily operations. It is a very stable and reliable system for high-volume warehouse work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

Sometimes you have to go through too many menus and complex processes just to find specific information. The navigation can be slow because some tasks require multiple steps that could be simpler. Also, the interface feels a bit outdated for a modern warehouse. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SAP Extended Warehouse Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

SAP EWM solves the challenge of maintaining high inventory accuracy in a regulated pharmaceutical environment. It helps us strictly follow FEFO (First Expired, First Out) rules, ensuring that no expired medicine is ever sent to customers. For me personally, it streamlines the process of creating orders and managing credit notes, which used to be more manual. The main benefit is having real-time visibility of every batch, which makes audits and daily stock checks much faster and error-free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

5/5

What do you like best about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

What I like best about SAP EWM is that it gives real-time visibility of all warehouse activities. It helps track every material movement accurately and reduces errors. The system also supports advanced features like picking, replenishment, and slotting, which makes daily operations faster and more efficient. Its smooth integration with other SAP modules further improves coordination and overall productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

The main thing I dislike about SAP EWM is that it is complex and not very user-friendly for new users. It takes time to understand the screens and processes. Sometimes even small changes or issues require technical support, which can slow down daily work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SAP Extended Warehouse Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

SAP EWM addresses issues such as inventory mismatches, slow picking processes, and the absence of real-time stock updates. By enabling more precise management of material movements, it helps minimize errors in daily operations.

For me, the main advantage is that it streamlines and accelerates work, enhances accuracy in stock handling, and lessens confusion among teams. Ultimately, this leads to greater productivity and time savings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlines Warehouse Operations with Precision"

5/5

What do you like best about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

I love how SAP Extended Warehouse Management helps define the location of materials and storage, which shortens lead time. This system immediately defines all the input data, making locating parts much easier than doing it manually. I also like using the specific t-code, MMBE, which helps define the correct part number and quantity in the system. It really simplifies and eases my daily tasks, especially when I need to track or identify urgent parts quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

Sometimes, if we input data wrongly into SAP, the system has difficulty providing the correct data. It can be a challenge because the system will track the wrong input. Also, SAP Extended Warehouse Management lacks offline mode. This makes it difficult to access the system when we're outside or not connected to the internet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SAP Extended Warehouse Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use SAP Extended Warehouse Management to define storage locations, which helps shorten lead times and ease daily tasks. It simplifies tracking and defining parts and quantities, making it easier to manage urgent requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In an environment like a power plant—where misplacing even a single specialized bolt can stall a multi-million-euro project—Handling Unit (HU) management and serial number tracking are a lifesaver. I don’t have to guess where a part is; the system provides a highly accurate “digital twin” of the physical warehouse.

The standout feature for me is Process-Oriented Storage Control (POSC). It lets us build complex, automated workflows that guide a worker through each step—receiving, quality checks, deconsolidation, and final putaway—without relying on manual paperwork. That removes a lot of uncertainty from the job and helps ensure that, even under the intense pressure of a plant outage, the process is followed exactly as designed. This balance of strict compliance and fast execution is what makes it so valuable to our operation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

What I dislike most is the extreme complexity and the rigid nature of the configuration. While the system is incredibly powerful, it’s also very unforgiving.

My main pain points are the steep learning curve and the ongoing admin overhead. You can’t just “tweak” a setting; even a minor change to a warehouse process requires a deep understanding of the underlying architecture. As a result, we’re heavily dependent on specialized consultants, and internal training for new users takes much longer than it should.

Another issue is that it often feels over-engineered for simple tasks. At times, EWM seems designed for a massive distribution center when we just need to move a part from point A to point B. The number of steps and clicks required to complete a simple, unplanned movement can be frustrating for the guys on the floor.

It’s also highly sensitive to master data. If a material’s dimensions, weight, or packaging units aren’t defined perfectly, the system will frequently throw an error and block the entire process. In a busy industrial environment where data isn’t always perfect, this “perfectionist” behavior can create unnecessary bottlenecks.

The UI still feels clunky and a bit legacy. Although Fiori is improving things, I still find myself constantly jumping back into the old SAP GUI for deeper configuration or troubleshooting. That lack of a unified, modern user experience makes the software feel dated and less intuitive than it could be.

Finally, implementation time and cost are a major drawback. It’s a massive “beast” to implement: mapping every process, testing the logic, and cleaning up the data takes a significant amount of time and effort. All of that makes it one of the more expensive modules to keep running. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SAP Extended Warehouse Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

SAP EWM solves several high-stakes problems for us, especially in the complex, strictly regulated environment of power generation. Here’s how it benefits our operations.

Elimination of maintenance delays: In the past, missing even one critical spare part could stall an entire repair project. EWM gives us 100% inventory accuracy at the bin level, so when a work order is created, the parts are actually there. This directly improves our plant uptime.

Reduction in picking errors: With thousands of technical components that often look identical, manual mistakes were a major risk. EWM enforces RF-based validation and requires a digital “handshake” at the bin. If someone tries to pick the wrong part, the system blocks the transaction, preventing costly installation errors.

Managing “peak chaos” during outages: During a plant overhaul, the volume of material movement can increase tenfold. EWM addresses the resulting bottleneck through Queue Management by automatically prioritizing high-priority parts for the reactor or turbine blocks, so they don’t get stuck behind low-priority stock.

Optimized space in tight facilities: Power plant warehouses are often limited in size. EWM’s Slotting logic identifies “fast-movers” (parts used frequently for routine maintenance) and places them in the most accessible bins, reducing travel time and making better use of our existing footprint.

Automated safety and compliance: Tracking the shelf life of sensitive materials (like seals or chemicals), or ensuring incompatible hazardous materials aren’t stored together, used to be a manual nightmare. EWM automates these checks, helping ensure we stay compliant with nuclear and industrial safety regulations.

Financial transparency: By bridging the gap between the physical warehouse and our ERP (S/4HANA), EWM eliminates “ghost inventory.” We can see the exact value of the assets sitting in our warehouse at any moment, which is essential for financial reporting and procurement planning. 4.5/5

What do you like best about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

I find that the best feature of SAP Extended Warehouse Management is the real-time visibility it provides into warehouse operations. It's interesting how every movement, whether inbound, outbound, or internal, is tracked and reflected. I like how it brings structure and efficiency to complex warehouse processes, making everything system-driven rather than relying on manual testing. This reduces errors and improves accuracy. It also gives a complete real-time visibility into warehouse operations, which makes it much easier to understand what's happening on the ground without physically being there. I appreciate the end-to-end flow perspective it provides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Extended Warehouse Management?

I have a little issue with the cost; I think it could be reduced. Also, before we had everything set up, it took quite some time, and the learning curve is a bit steep. It could be smoother for new hires to get up to speed quickly. In high-volume warehouses, some transactions or reports can become slightly slow, so improving the system speed and responsiveness would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
