Rootpal has ceased to function. Below is my old review: We achieved a good price with an introductory offer, but I'm not sure that is relevant anymore. Rootpal does seem quite fast--on par or slightly below our previous Vultr server through Cloudways. Documentation is not profuse, but the support staff are competent and efficient. The implementation of Plesk works well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As mentioned, documentation is still being built for this host. The 'managed' moniker may mean less than it did in the past with other hosts--expect a support level similar to what would come with traditional hosting. More importantly, I am not sure that Rootpal's model of "dedicated resources" is actually as powerful as a VPS.

It is very easy to setup and manage websites. Backend is easy to use and options are very good to create, modify or delete email address, website pages... You have the possibility to do nearly anything appart from dsn setup. You have to ask the support for this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The support is awful. Very slow to react. Sometimes it takes more than 7 days to get an answer to a ticket. The chat support is also very poor. Appart from giving YouTube links, they can't do much. I have 2 different services. WordPress hosting : it is Ok. Not very fast and I had downtime. I can't use them for my shops. Regarding the windows server I have. Support told me that I had to use kms to activate Windows because it was not included. They also obliged me to migrate to a new server with a 40% increase. There is a lot to dislike! One of the facts I like the most, is the great support service, and ticket service. They are almost all day online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Last week Rootpal has had some kind of database problems, which resulted in our websites being down for about a WEEK. Customer service was entirely unhelpful and couldn't utter more than a 'We're working on it, but don't have an ETA for a fix.'

The server check on their website might've shown them to be 'online,' but customers couldn't log in and their websites were down for a week or so. Apparently, there's no fail-safe when it comes to your data, so please consider yourself warned.

Rootpal's servers have been down quite a lot before the database issues as well. The lack of communication regarding this is more than worrisome. (Customer service has proven to be useless time and time again.)

Last week, due to the database issues, they did a rollback of our websites; earlier this year they also had problems and they pretty much did nothing and made it our problem. I'll migrate our websites to a different hosting company ASAP.

Edit (August 28th 2022): Rootpal has been down for 10 days now. (During which their own site had been down as well.) I have yet to receive an email with an explanation. It's only after checking their Facebook page that I found out they had been hacked and had their servers wiped. Apparently, no adequate contingency plan had been created as they need weeks (if not months) to rebuild everything. Don't let the server status tool on their website fool you, as the server I'm on is shown as 'online,' even though I haven't been able to log in to the back-end for quite a while now and my websites are still offline. Again, no communication whatsoever. Not even an email! Rootpal has quite literally been the worst company I've ever come into contact with.

Edit (September 4th 2022): Rootpal has closed my support ticket without any response or explanation. (The Rootpal group on Facebook shows that other people have had the same thing happen to them.) Still no communication whatsoever and my websites are still offline. Please let this be a lesson to anyone else. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Constant problems. Thought i was getting a good deal. But, I underestimated how hard it must be for a company to build a quality platform or service. ... your landing pages will go down frequently. it will work then not work. your emails will get constant SSL expirations--triggering your constant annoying notifications on your apple devices on every app tied to the email... so annying. constantly having to go update the issue. Sometimes, you can't login to plesk—this has happened MULTIPLE times. you literally can't login to your own backend. Sometimes their login doesn't recognize you and they have to reset it for you. Sometimes you ask for an update and you don't get a reply from support for days... I've finally been so annoyed after all of this... that just now i couldn't even get to the /wp-admin login page. I couldn't login to my wp site. LOL. I emailed them and they WITHOUT MY PERMISSION deleted my WP, reinstalled and reinstalled the plugin, as if i wouldn't notice. Thoguht it would be okay and professional to do. I had APIs tied to it and even had editors tied to it. What makes ANYONE think you can go delete someone's wp without the owners approval. Was great as they offered Plesk to manage websites. Plesk is a modern and easy management panel that enabled us to use more features and spend less time managing websites.

They lack strong innovation. The page is slow and the UX is not at the modern standard. You need some time to find everything. Comparing it with other domain registrars or Website hoster, there is a lot better outside. Especially if you're paying the regular subscription price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
