
It had a 3-schema architecture. The Physical Schema specified how data was physically deployed on hardware. The Conceptual Schema was a logical view of the data from a business perspective. The External Schema was specification of views of the data as seen by the Users. Thus each schema could be autonomous and interact with the others in a systematic, structured, and flexible manner.
