It is very much scalable and easily manageable tool. It can handle any number of user access management for multiple systems easily.We are no need to worry about security anymore as it maintain the security of all data.

There is no as such demerit of this tool however sometimes maintainance is hectic.Also it creates issues if the system is rely on other platform other than unix kind of os/system.its a ldap based directory hence for more complex structure it may not suitable.

**What problems is Red Hat Directory Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's secure. It's solving availability issue by providing high availability with less down time. Administration cost is pretty low.Its based on LDAP directory hence It's lightweight service.

The ease of configuration

Configuration is only a Command-line
The restoration of the backups is time-taking in case of service disrupts

There are many other such services in the market 
Red Hat provides service for free of cost with reliable features

Its complex and not easy to learn. It has a deep learning curve.

**What do you like best about Red Hat Directory Server?**

First off, this is an amazing company that produces amazing and intuitive products. I can't say enough about this company and leadership team. This product gives you deep control over security, multiple access methods, authentication that is certified, ability to replicate policies, and the protection over data. Red Hat Directory Server simplifies user management by eliminating data redundancy and automating data maintenance. 4-way multi-master replication also makes architecture and designing the directory deployment more flexible. Scripts for monitoring and troubleshooting replication simplify the process for administrators. Updates can be simultaneously applied to 1 or more directories, and changes automatically propagate to other participating servers. Award-Winning Support and Open Source Solutions, come on. 

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Directory Server?**

It can be a little scary allows users work from any computer and storing items. They have a lot of customers , so you never know if they'll have time to support. BUT, they do. 

**Recommendations to others considering Red Hat Directory Server:**

I would recommend going into a trial with this company and product. You will truly never know what you need and how it fits for what you need until you give it a go. Contact a rep and get a time and date to view the product and take it for a spin. The reps are really friendly, helpful,  and nice. You can never go wrong with an integrated and future seeing company such as RH. 

**What problems is Red Hat Directory Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not currently solving any issues with this product or company. Benefits I foresee with be very helpful for our processes.

Currently Red Hat doesn't work on every computer

Its completly new and the best thing is it makes system manageable and more secure.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Directory Server?**

Not as effective as openldap but still good, as new in market need to be more functional and effective. 

**Recommendations to others considering Red Hat Directory Server:**

It is a good product and I used it on a trial basis , definitely eases the LDAP load but still some work needs to be done on it.

Red hat Directory made my work litlle easier and as the 389 server version came about 5 months back so I have not used it on a massive scale .

Open source philosophy is just great and this solution is really focus in business needs related to identity management. The solution is growing fast with time and interface are really great for admin users.  

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Directory Server?**

Sometimes integration with other in-house solution could be a little bit difficult, we had to create some connectors in order to get working our solution. 

**What problems is Red Hat Directory Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solve identity silos with user information and applications in just one place. The administration is more efficient .
