"BIM is incomplete without 'Recap'."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Recap?

Recap is mainly used in photogrammetry i.e. for converting the Building scan to a Point cloud model which can be used in Revit. It is very easy to use and is very essential software for BIM as it helps to know the on-site service condition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

The only dislike in Recap is its RAM usage, we have to index the point cloud in separate system because using it together with MEP modelling slow down the performance of system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Recap-ture reality"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Recap?

Recap offers an intuitive visual interface with which to import and register pointclouds from a variety of 3D scanners. It offers a particularly simple method of producing shareable fly-throughs with which to showcase your 3D models. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

The can be quite long import and registration times depending on the size of your pointcloud data, which need to be factored in when considering processing your data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Recap as a tool for Scan to BIM (point cloud) projects"
4/5
What do you like best about Recap?

Autodesk recap has a friendly user interface. It is very easy to navigate through point clouds. The point clouds are clearly visible as compared to when loaded in Revit. The point clouds are large in size but still recap gives a smooth experience. The point clouds come in various extensions such as .pts, .las, etc formats, these formats can be indexed using recap and can be converted into .rcp format very easily. This rcp file can be used in revit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

Recap uses a lot of ram in the computer which results in lag sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best for Point cloud projects"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Recap?

One of the best things about Recap is its point cloud exporting feature. Recap is also used for indexing point clouds without creating any storage issues, which is one of my favorite things about Recap. Recap is also used for creating point clouds using geo-coordinates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

The only thing I dislike about Recap is when the load increases, it crashes. So it's better to split the file to get better performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Recap for Scan to BIM projects"
4/5
What do you like best about Recap?

Point cloud files come in various extensions such as - .pts, .las, etc. Recap helps to convert these files into .rcp extension files which can be integrated with Revit software. These point clouds can be used for modelling in Revit. The point clouds are very heavy in size but with the help of Recap one can easily navigate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

The point cloud takes time to load but else everything is fine. It uses a lot of RAM, hence, the computer lacks a little bit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Recap- Capture reality"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Recap?

The end result of the project, that you could stitch bunch of images and georeference them taken from a drone while working alongside recap photo. Work with point cloud files, filter data and allows you to make selections and work with want you want to. Also, could coordinate the other autodesk products which is very helpful Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

not much of a negative trait but having to wait while recap photo stitches your images. Also the limitation when working with more than 1000 aerial images. Working on large sites would have more than 1000 pictures Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Autodesk ReCap"
4/5
What do you like best about Recap?

Autodesk ReCap is an excellent program for working with point cloud data. It can register together point cloud files into a single file that can be used in other AutoCAD programs. You can also edit the point clouds to remove unnecessary data or isolate data for exports. It is very easy to use and does not take very long to learn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

It would be good if it could open different forms of files. We currently use a Trimble scanner and have to use the Trimble software for registration. It would be nice if we could use the ReCap program as well to register some of these files as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Recap?

This system is completely responsive which makes using it so simple and easy in day to day work. it works perfectly to be able to open huge files on it and save them in to different formats. i recommend this to anyone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

the user interface is so so. kind of hard to get the hang of everything compared to other systems. after working with it for awhile i was able to understand how to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lacking some basic features, but works well for simple pointcloud edits"
3/5
What do you like best about Recap?

Recap works well with large point clouds and a lot of data. It does a good job of of allowing users to view and edit point clouds and then save them in a format for other uses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

I don’t necessarily like the user interface. It seems difficult for new users to pick up. Also many tools get hidden making things slower to use across the board. There are also some features lacking for registration and adjustment of loaded point clouds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Autodesk can do so much better"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Recap?

I think Recap is headed in the right direction but is still in the beginning stages. For example, you can create a mesh out of a point cloud for only for a very small area- so it's basically useless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Recap?

We mainly use this product to convert .e57 files to .rcs files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
