I appreciate Progress Chef's ease of use, which makes managing recipes, inventory, and kitchen operations straightforward. The accurate food cost tracking is incredibly valuable, helping us keep costs in control and maintain consistent food quality. Its inventory management and recipe management features save us time, reduce manual errors, and ensure our inventory is accurate. The initial setup was straightforward with a short learning curve, which was a huge plus for our team.

**What do you dislike about Progress Chef?**

I wish the reporting was more customizable, and I find the mobile experience could be smoother and faster. More flexible report filters and export options would make reporting more useful. Improving the mobile app's speed and navigation would make it easier to use on the go.

**What problems is Progress Chef solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Progress Chef to control food costs, manage inventory accurately, and streamline kitchen operations. It saves us time, reduces manual errors, keeps inventory accurate, and helps maintain consistent food quality while controlling costs.

Sometimes the system can be a bit slow, and I think it can be improved by making it faster and adding more helpful notifications or reminders. I think it would be better if it loaded faster, had clear notifications, and was easier to navigate.

I like that Progress Chef does the setup work for me and keeps all servers the same. It also makes compliance checks easier. I appreciate that it makes audits easier and keeps everything consistent.

I find the learning curve hard for new users, and the documentation is confusing. Setting it up at the start also takes a long time. The initial setup of Progress Chef was pretty complex. There’s a lot to configure with the server and workstations.

I also appreciate the smooth initial setup process, as it was guided by the Progress Chef team. Additionally, I value the 'Node search' or server lookup feature.

Having bulk actions so the user can address multiple nodes at once

Progress Chef helps monitor node health, detect configuration drifts, and automate remediation. It solves the problem of finding unhealthy nodes quickly, viewing the status of Chef runs, and looking up server information.

After migrating from Puppet, we have found Chef to offer a more flexible and maintainable automation platform.

**What do you dislike about Progress Chef?**

One area where Progress Chef could be improved is its learning curve, it takes more time to understand concepts. Debugging issues are challenging, setting up and managing Chef servers are complex for smaller environments.

I like Progress Chef for its visibility and monitoring capabilities. It allows us to easily track Chef-managed VMs, verify they are checking in successfully, and quickly identify systems that require attention. It helps us see which VMs are healthy, failing, missing, or checking in as expected, and when a system stops reporting, we can identify and investigate it immediately.
