Used to be my go to for estimating software. It was the best out there around 2019 but times have changed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

They sold me a "lifetime license" back in 2019. At that time they told me to get updates I would also have to pay a yearly, "maintenance fee". At that time it was $300. I asked their salesperson if that would ever go up. He said, it could go up a little but not much. Fast forward, every year that has increased. This year in 2026 its more than doubled to $750. When I asked them how they could do that they basically told me to pay up or pound sand. They also said if I tried to come back later it would cost a lot more. Sounds like robbery to me.

Software has had a number of glitches over the years and those remain. Software updates have been slow to non existent and no real difference between updates. It used to be the best of the best but there are better options out there now. I recommend trying ZZTakeoff. It is cleaner, faster, web based, less expensive and your data will transfer over. All in all I didn't want to move to a new platform but they kind of forced my hand, luckily the transition was super easy and I am so glad I did. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I appreciate how easy to use and inexpensive PlanSwift is. I love the ability to import a PDF floor plan and then put the x & y scale onto it quickly. The feature where it automatically counts the items as we click is also great. The initial setup was pretty easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Planswfit is one of the best take-off software on the market. The main thing I like about it is there are tons of added plug-ins that are trade specific, this helps streamline the takeoff process if there is a specific style of take-off a company would normally perform. Planswift sometimes can sometimes crash or if your computer loses power it will force close the program and sometimes will corrupt the file and the take-offs will be lost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
