## Penpot Reviews
  ### 1. Penpot: Open-Source, Browser-Based Design with Smooth Team Collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muzammil M. | Founder – Muzammil Graphic | Interior and Graphic Designer | Transforming Spaces and Brands Visually , Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Penpot?**

Penpot is a solid option for creating wireframes, UI mockups, and prototypes without paying for expensive design software. I like that it is open source, browser-based, and supports team collaboration. Sharing designs with developers is straightforward because it works well with SVG and CSS-friendly assets. The interface feels familiar if you've used other UI design tools, so getting started doesn't take long.

**What do you dislike about Penpot?**

Some advanced features are still developing, and very large projects can occasionally feel less smooth than more established design platforms. The plugin ecosystem is also smaller, so certain workflows may require manual work.

**What problems is Penpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Penpot helps create UI mockups and prototypes without adding software costs. It makes it easier to share designs with teammates and developers, review ideas quickly, and keep design files accessible from any browser. For small teams and individual projects, it offers a practical balance of features and flexibility.

  ### 2. An intuitive and professional UX/UI tool for designers. One of the best alternatives to Figma.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anvesh S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Penpot?**

Penpot is one of the tool which is closer to figma in its functionality which has room to grow to become a much better collaboration tool in future.

**What do you dislike about Penpot?**

I have not found a dark mode or light mode option for this tool. Other than this, nothing i could ask for more.

**What problems is Penpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The tool being an open source was a big yes for us. Penpot is free to us for the most part without any restrictions and strange pricing plans like the other tool. If done right, there will be days when it will not be compared.

  ### 3. A good free alternative to Sketch or Figma

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mitesh G. | Founder, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Penpot?**

It has all the necessary features of creating designs and prototypes as in Sketch. But it is better for collaboration and sharing. Plus it is completely browser-based. So it is super easy to work on.

**What do you dislike about Penpot?**

Since its browser based, sometimes, the interface is a bit busy when compared to desktop apps like sketch on the mac. But that is not a major problem.

**What problems is Penpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Penpoint heps me in creating website designs and wireframes.

  ### 4. Penpot - The Ultimate Tool for Designers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roopam C. | Software Engineer DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Penpot?**

Penpot really impressed me. And the mindset of open source! Would love to see more projects like this, and now that Figma has been acquired by Adobe, I will continue to use and advocate Penpot to others. Goodbye, Adobe and all of your stuff.

**What do you dislike about Penpot?**

There are few improvements like No automatic arrangement.
There is no light/dark mode switch.Rightnow, the community network is small but it will grow fast.I have no doubts.

**What problems is Penpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To any aspiring user experience designer searching for a cost-effective and practical solution for their products, I would wholeheartedly recommend this software. It will, in my opinion, rank among the best tools for UX designers.

**What do you like best about Penpot?**

The best Figma alternative for product design and development with robust capabilities to help developers.

**What do you dislike about Penpot?**

It's is not a play and plug solution, even with the easy approach of the interface, there is a bit of a learning curve to use Penpot.

**What problems is Penpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to test and publish our new website redesign faster because I was able to show quality drafts to my managers.

  ### 10. The best free and open-source UX tool!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Penpot?**

Has all the basics you would expect from a UX tool: artboards, components, interactions, and more!
And it allows collaboration and self-hosting!

**What do you dislike about Penpot?**

As of the time of writing this review, it's still early days: Penpot is still in Beta and thus it's a bit rough around the edges. However, it's still stable enough to be used in production.

**What problems is Penpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You're not tied to a subscription or to a company that might be bought off by some large soulless conglomerate. If things go sour, you can always just self-host.

You no longer need to spend any money on your design and it also provides an open file on which you can work online with your team.
