## About PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)
PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler) automates the work between creating a report and getting it into the right hands. It schedules, personalizes, exports, packages, protects and distributes reports from Microsoft Power BI Service, Power BI Report Server, Power BI Paginated Reports and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). PBRS is for BI, IT, finance and operations teams that spend too much time exporting reports, changing filters, assembling attachments and sending different versions to different people. It is particularly useful when reporting needs extend across customers, departments, locations or business partners, each with their own requirements. For example, a finance team can automatically send each customer a package containing only that customer’s reports. A regional operations team can deliver a different workbook to every location. An IT team can coordinate dataset refresh, report generation and delivery without someone having to check each stage manually. PERSONALIZE REPORTS WITHOUT MAINTAINING A SEPARATE WORKFLOW FOR EVERY RECIPIENT PBRS uses SQL or JSON data to determine what each recipient receives. Data-driven schedules can control reports, filters, parameters, output formats, filenames, email messages, passwords and supported delivery destinations. This goes beyond sending the same report to a mailing list. One workflow can generate different outputs for each customer, account, department or location, using the recipient data and reporting rules you configure. As requirements change, teams can update the data that drives distribution rather than manually rebuilding each recipient’s schedule. DELIVER COMPLETE REPORT PACKAGES When recipients need several reports, PBRS can run them as one coordinated package and deliver the completed outputs together. Packages can contain reports from Power BI Service, Power BI Report Server, Power BI Paginated Reports and SSRS. Each report can have its own filters, parameters, format and processing order. Send the resulting files as attachments in one email, place them in a ZIP archive, merge them into an ordered PDF with bookmarks, or consolidate applicable Excel outputs into a workbook with separate tabs. Data-driven packages can also determine which reports belong in each recipient’s delivery. This helps replace the recurring work of exporting, renaming, checking and collating files before sending them. SCHEDULE AROUND YOUR BUSINESS Run reports hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, or use custom calendars for requirements such as business days, every other day, the third Monday of the month and 4-4-5 reporting periods. Configure exceptions and blackout dates when reports should not run. Reporting can also respond to supported business events, such as a database record changing, a file arriving, an unread email being received or data appearing on a monitored port. PBRS runs unattended as a Windows service, helping teams automate reporting that would otherwise depend on someone remembering to start the process. COORDINATE DELIVERY WITH DATASET REFRESH A report delivered on time is only useful if its data is ready. PBRS can coordinate Power BI dataset refresh with report generation and delivery, monitoring refresh completion before continuing the workflow. Teams can also schedule refreshes independently or configure refresh activity before or after reporting, according to their requirements. This helps reduce the manual checking and timing assumptions involved in distributing reports after a data update. CREATE THE OUTPUTS PEOPLE NEED PBRS supports automated exports in formats appropriate to the reporting source and workflow. For Power BI visual data, teams can export summarized or underlying data to Excel and CSV. Excel automation includes formatted, data-only and template-based outputs, with options to organize multiple exports across worksheets. PDF workflows can export complete reports or supported visual data, combine outputs into one document and apply protection before delivery. Available PDF controls include passwords, encryption, permissions, watermarks and expiry settings. Other export formats are available for supported report types. Format availability and data limits depend on the reporting source and export method. REACH PEOPLE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE YOUR ORGANIZATION Deliver reports through email, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, Slack, Google Sheets, FTP/SFTP, network folders, printers and other supported destinations. Exported files can be sent to customers, suppliers and partners without requiring those recipients to sign into Power BI to open the delivered documents. Personalize the email subject and message, include report attachments, or embed supported report output in the email body. Each recipient can receive the content, format and delivery method appropriate to their role. MANAGE UNATTENDED REPORTING PBRS includes execution history, notifications, configured retries and blank-report handling so teams can monitor recurring reporting and respond to exceptions. Pre-processing and post-processing tasks can support the wider workflow around report generation. These controls help reduce the need to supervise each run or manually recover every failed delivery. CONNECT REPORTING TO YOUR APPLICATIONS The PBRS REST API lets developers connect reporting automation with business applications and customer portals. Applications can create and manage supported schedules, trigger execution and inspect processing status while PBRS handles the configured reporting workflow. For customer portals, your application controls authentication, permissions and the reporting options customers can select. PBRS provides the automation behind those approved choices. WHY TEAMS CHOOSE PBRS Native Power BI subscriptions and Power Automate can meet straightforward delivery requirements. PBRS is designed for organizations that need more control over recipient-specific reports, custom schedules, multi-report packages, document protection, delivery destinations and operational recovery. It brings these reporting tasks into one centrally managed application, helping teams reduce repetitive manual work and the number of custom workflows they must build and maintain. PBRS is installed in a Windows environment and supports both cloud and on-premises Microsoft reporting sources. Microsoft licensing, capacity requirements and available export methods depend on the report type and configuration.

**What do you like best about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

Automation and scheduling are so powerful. It comes with rich resources to help newbies to start with.

**What do you dislike about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

It should be easy to run across all platforms and API supports if one wants to integrate it.

**What problems is PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our current process takes longer than a day to run, and we have had to implement a temporary workaround that doesn't fully meet our needs. Using Power BI, we can replace this nightly batch process with a constantly updating resource that our clients can access in real-time. The most significant benefit of this is the ability to provide real-time reporting rather than waiting for updates until the following day.

It's user friendly functions. PowerBI has played a big role in Analytics life

**What do you dislike about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

Nothing at all. everything in powerBi is perfect.

Helping in analysing data fastly

**What do you like best about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

As a newer user to the tools, it is fairly beneficial that there are a lot of resources documenting the functionality. This makes it easier for somebody with little to no experience to set up dashboards and reports with little difficulty. The technology is growing rapidly, and the changes that have been made since SQL server 2016 are definitely worth noting.

**What do you dislike about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

I personally find that the interface is not intuitive. I have much more of a visual concrete brain that makes it difficult to more abstractly render the objects that need to be joined to get the end result. I end up building out what would be the SQL query in order to figure out how each piece is needed in power bi or as a dataset for SSRS. That could be because I am a DBA working with a poorly structured database.

**Recommendations to others considering PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler):**

Make sure to get a clear outline on the business use cases so you can create intelligent and maintainable data sets

**What problems is PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We currently have a process that takes more hours than we have in a day to run the way we need it to. We've had to put in place a temporary solution work around that is not fully meeting the functionality that we need. With power bi we are able to replace that nightly batch process with a constantly updating resource that our clients can access in real time instead of waiting for the next day to see updates. That real-time reporting is the biggest benefit.

**What do you like best about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

Power BI and SSRS are products by Microsoft for data visualization and reporting. It provides data warehouse capabilities including data preparation and interactive dashboards. The reports in SSRS can be built from the cubes and the tables from Datawarehouse. Power BI has the capacity to provide customized reports and can connect to different data sources like Sharepoint, Excel, SQL Server, Azure SQL DB, etc for polling of data.

**What do you dislike about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

Power BI and SSRS are great tools and there are no disadvantages as such. Being products of Microsoft, they are user friendly and provides a easy to use GUI. The reports generated can be used by the higher management for making critical decisions.

**What problems is PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Power BI & SSRS Reports provides reporting with different visualizations. One can include graphs, charts, bars, pies and more for better data visualization. This helps management to analyze and take decisions accordingly. It can be integrated with different products like Sharepoint for display of reports.

Building custom dashboarding tools to help run analysis on trends. I can also customize tools for different team members to show them the post pertinent data.

**What do you dislike about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

I don't have drill-down capability to get to the check level detail that tools like Avero offer.

**What problems is PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identify revenue, cost trends to quickly find locations or areas of the business that are performing over or under expectations.

  ### 6. Power BI and SSRS are improving softwares.

At G2, we prefer fresh reviews and we like to follow up with reviewers. They may not have updated their review text, but have updated their review.

**What do you like best about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

Power BI has several methods of visualizing data. PBI has good backend manipulation that allows you to create a kind of etl. SSRS is very good at giving you latest go to date data with little fuss to connect to databases.

**What do you dislike about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

Power BI is improving, but getting updated datasets is limiting and frustrating. You need to use things like power automate to continually refresh data. SSRS has lousy graph bars and visuals that are beyond tables. I never use SSRS for visuals.

**Recommendations to others considering PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler):**

I would recommend not using PBI if you want automatic refreshing. If you want good visual graphs, don't use SSRS.

**What problems is PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data is accessible immediately through both (as long as it's not up to the minute), and SSRS subscriptions makes it easy to get emailed reports with excel, pdf or word docs. Power BI has subscriptions, but isn't nearly as good.

**What do you like best about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

It makes it easy to automate things like filtering on existing reports to get them ready for distribution to any group of emails.

**What do you dislike about PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler)?**

It's slow! I feel this might just be a PowerBI problem in general but I've always had more success in efficiency with competing tools like MicroStrategy.

**Recommendations to others considering PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler):**

If you are solving Big Data problems you need a Big Data tool. Don't use if you don't have databases with at least 10's of millions of rows (but more likely hundreds of millions or billions).

**What problems is PBRS (Power BI Report Scheduler) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's definitely a good tool for automated delivery of reports. We used to build reports manually and export them from tools like this and email them ourselves. It's nice to set it and forget it.
