Pantomth has an excellent data lineage visualization that exceeds anything I've seen in other data lineage tools. For complicated pipelines, it's critical for developers and SREs alike to understand the size, complexity, and interconnected nature of individual elements in the pipeline. The UI is well-designed and makes it easy to see and understand lineage and where individual components come into play. More importantly, it allows you to see pipeline impacts at a glance.

Real-time alerting and monitoring in a single pane of glass is another stand out feature. It's nice to be able to see failures and log history in one place rather than switching between tools.

For larger, complicated systems tagging is critical and Pantomath supports tagging as well as bulk manipulation of objects in the system based on tags.

Pantomath does something many other products claim to do but can't. This is a testament to their insane commitment to parsing endless amounts of source code and building complete maps of your entire data stack, from source data to end report visual. We tried another product who promised this same thing, only Pantomath delivered what I thought to be impossible. On top of that great achievement, they also monitor it all in a central tool, giving large organizations a better path to centralize Data Operations into one team. Still young in their journey, searching the catalog of assets can be overwhelming. With hundreds of thousands of 'points' being able to find things just off a name is a search box can be improved, as many of those names overlap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I now know about a failure before my end users. Historically, I found out about a failed report execution when an end user received a blank report or a report didn't update. Pantomath provides me visibility based on alerting when an ETL failed that populates a report I used, when a Power BI report failed to refresh - and because of this, I am able to not only intervene and run a manual update, but also build trust with the business by alerting them before they come to me with an issue.

Pantomath has also saved us from deploying a change that would have cause significant downstream impacts. We were able to see all the reports, systems and downstream products that would fail had a data change been implemented without proper steps taken upstream to account for the change.

The UI is easy to use - doesn't take much training to know how to use the tool. My team members use the tool almost daily, especially as we are working through our cloud migration. Pantomath is a start-up, which has it's pros and cons. We loved working with their product team as they were able to build a product that meets our needs. The implementation wasn't as seamless as we had hoped, but that has more to do with our on-prem environment than Pantomath itself. Pantomath is a complete one stop shop for everything data related. I was able to setup connectors to Tableau, Fivetran, and Snowflake in less than 10 minutes for each. After initial setup, Pantomath went right to work ingesting our metadata and giving us a complete picture of lineage between systems, and total insight into our jobs that we run each day. When a job fails, Pantomath not only tells us it failed, regardless of the system, but also pinpoints the cause of the failure so we can easily fix it quickly to get our business back on track. When we first set up the tool, the alerts were staggering. They use a sort of machine learning to tell you when there is latency in your models, but it takes a bit to train the model. During the beginning of this process, we received several emails about the jobs with latency. Before implementing Pantomath, it was a challenge to identify the source and root cause of a report or integration failure, often taking a full day or more from multiple developers with varying levels of access and expertise.

Based on neatly curated logs and the end-to-end lineage graph, we are able to automatically pinpoint the root cause and assign the ticket to the appropriate resources. Initially the amount of failures can be alarming. With great power comes great responsibility! It can take some time to separate critical from non-critical failures and adjust sensitivity to streamline usage. Fortunately, the robust rules engine for creating and classifying tickets allowed us to tweak our way to the level of care we needed.

While Pantomath is valuable as a reporting tool for a single team, its real power comes from widespread adoption across the development teams. To engage these teams, the solution has to be simple and organically integrate into the existing SDLC.

Pantomath does not yet have integrations into our backlog tools, making it harder for development teams to incorporate it into the development cycle. The data from Pantomath is also only available in the UI, making it harder for our teams to use the data reciprocally in our ETL automation. Once these features mature, software teams will feel empowered to consider Pantomath's capabilities during the software development process and truly ingrain observability into the ETL they build.
