It is so easy to create an issue, create a git branch, see build results, and peer review status all from Hansoft stories. Made my workflow a lot easier to manage. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** Creating a new task in the calendar form is sometimes confusing, and searching for tasks that have been mistakenly completed can be a bit of a pain but definitely not something to quit the program over. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Managing your team has never been this easier, with Hansoft you're rest assured that your team will stay focused and smash all your project goals. As a freelancer, I use Hansoft to assign tasks to my team members, and it just makes the whole thing easier than imagined. ### 2. You can create various projects which can be subdivided into separate tasks, which can then be assigned a due date, and even be assigned to a particular person. Comment threads keep the conversation about each task in one place, with the ability to reply directly in the thread or even to an email sent directly to you. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** I think the least I like is how is the process for recording information in the projects, at first I found it somewhat confusing, I did not understand the options that they gave me or that I should register in each one. Then I could understand it, but this can be confusing for new users and they can reject the tool. Maybe it can be made a little more friendly, since it is a useful and powerful tool. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** The Hansoft team really understand project management when it comes to siftware developement. With lots of tools available at your fingertips and a constant improvement and new features, this app is by far the most imprortant tool in our arsenal. ### 3. It makes it also easy to build up a new management structure for a up comming project. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** The personal customization is often limited by small missing features, like the missing personalized coloring of the planing items, which would enhance the overview in the planing view. Also features like the ToDo-List need a iteration to become a really usefull tool. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** We encounter the challenge of planning game development projects. This needs on the one hand a huge effort in planning for all departments and on the other side it needs a good QA Database. The biggest benefit is the "easy to pickup" structure. For the admins the leaded to a creative overflow, which makes space for individual management-concepts. ### 5. We've had Hansoft for about five years and during that time changed how we use it and for what purpose at least half a dozen times. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** Hansoft almost requires you to configure it to hide parts of the information available. If you do not, the software often displays information overload to the end users with user fatigue as a result. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Spend time and focus on configuring the product to deliver a smooth user experience for the user base when switching. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Hansoft for Backlog planning, progress tracking, environment monitoring, vacation planning... I find the interface quick and easy to navigate, albeit I've heard the opposite from former Jira users on the team. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** A few more easy set up pre-existing dash board views would be great The pricing is challenging for start up studios and comparatively to the competition, albeit that you own the competition as well :) **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** We develop all our games using Hansoft. I find it much easier to breakdown the entire project and set it up for both initial and live development of our games. ### 7. Pretty much every issue that I've hit upon has had a solution within the software or has been added to their development roadmap and implemented within a month or 2 of reporting. The support team are fantastic and make you feel valued as a customer and the product is very powerful **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** There is a steep learning curve to it. It takes a while to get used to it and training a team is a little challenging to start with but once people are there it's great. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Get the training at the start and lean on the support team while you learn. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Project backlog organisation and project feature lists along with constant reporting of pretty much everything you want. ### 8. Not possible to give access write access per column, I need to give write access to 500 hunderd users to the entire backlog, this is very bad! **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Test the performance if many simultaneous user will work toward same database/server. Have a list of user stories and use cases and test all of them during trail period. Be aware that you can solve many neededs via SDK. The go live time depends on your processes and WoW. To implement processes and WoW takes more time than to implement Hansoft. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Product portfolio handling and in some cases XFT sprint handling. ### 9. Being able to convey a period of work in a plethora of charts is useful in various scenarios. (ie. Justifying capacity increase, displaying time spent) Also, being able to hit ctrl+z is best feature. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** The lack of dynamic options. I am unable to create an ideal capacity VS scope burndown as the needed column will not work inside a formula. I don't like the tab system and would prefer side menus. Adding new windows to the To Do List is a strain as well. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Check out other programs such as Jira first, make sure that whichever program you choose has the flexibility you might want further into your project. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hours management, task allocation, and priority planning. I've realized that setting up a dynamic priority system is next to impossible with Hansoft, thus we have regular meetings to discuss changing priorities. ### 11. This helped our team communicate and allowed us to plan for future tasks that we did not think of before. There is still overhead for training up a new user in Hansoft and it can look daunting at first but once you get used to it, the UI is actually quite simple. ### 12. Knowing detailly how your team works is crucial as it is not a magic bullet to solve problems. More technical industries that dont have multiple disciplines and dependencies could get away with not using it, but teams or studios that have 2 or more very different disciplines could consider this as a possible option. * If your going to use hansoft, really take advantage of its reporting, automation, pipelines and workflows features, and newly added custom columns. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** * Distributed task and project management and tracking * Project workflow and methodology for multidisciplinary team * Increase project management efficiency and workflows ### 13. Bug Report/QA has been a great tool for the QA to keep a track on, it records enough details to inform the team what exactly the issue is. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** Customised Column hidden in Planning is visible after the report is made from the product backlog and I cannot block product backlog visibility from users Gannt: Cannot record hours under "duration", instead, it record as days which makes it difficult to track the exact time. Yes, initially you can log in as hours, but when you move the Gannt bar, the hours automatically changes to days and you cannot switch to hours. * I understand Hansoft is for agile and yes its a hybrid, but it does cause of us a lot of difficulties when we have to make an accurate report on the actual man days. Agile: "work remaining" gets wiped off from the record as soon as the task is completed, can not track what was inputted. The only way to retrieve is to deep dive into the task history, which is a nightmare if you have lots of tasks to decipher. Kanban Pipeline: Is good if you know how to use it, but be cautious if you switch workflow from kanban piple to default, you will lose all your data record in the kanban pipeline, which makes it very inconvenient. To Do List I wish the task could be displayed the same way as it is under planning and not individually, as this can be intimidating at times for some users to see the unclustered tasks, it doesn't look organised and can be confusing when users are assigned lots of multiple task. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** R&D, Projects that require Agile. I like how easy it is to use the backlog, I can instantly commit to a sprint and uncommit at the same time. ### 14. There is a bit of a learning curve but everything feels intuitive. Like for the most part when i want to do something there is a natural path to follow that makes sense. How easy it is to track large scale projects is also very nice, having multiple team silos in each project is quite easy to do. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** I don't think the graphs are as customization as they could be. For example, stacked graphs could have a more in-depth functionality for showing different pieces of data that follow themes. For example, I have 2 different columns in a bar graph, and 3 pieces of data. I want the first column to be DataSet1, and I want the second column to be DataSet2 & DataSet3. At the moment, the only way to do that is to create a new tag for them and separate it that way. It would be nice to have that functionality built in. The Board mode is rough all around. The controls feel strange too, like how using the scroll wheel will zoom in. I'd also like the ability to filter tasks through a keyword or other filters, instead of only a Sprint. If there is a large task with many subtasks fitting into the Sprint, I cannot plan each of the tasks in board view and check the progress that way. There should be more ways to customize the built-in Capacity tracker. I think that it's fantastic at what it does, but it railroads users into that method. Allowing us to do things like add Actuals/Time Spent to the capacity planner would help with agile resource allocation as things come up. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Task tracking, capacity planning and hours allocation. With this we're able to figure out how everybody on the team is spending their day, and we can look for inefficiencies more accurately. ### 15. Extremely easy to build out the backlog and break epics down into tasks and commit them to the sprints. Very useful to break down people working on projects/add in vacation days/etc. Estimating and recording work per task was relatively painless. On a more project-management side, to be able to get in and adjust people's hours dedicated to the project was useful. The ability to also have the project view in a more gantt-style just to see how the schedule would fall. The ability to create additional projects and link tasks between projects was also useful, especially when we wanted to have a "high-level" version of the project that was primarily tracking the main stories, rather than all the tasks (to present to the executive level). **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** Unable to set up Hansoft as Project > Teams > Sprints > Tasks with cross-dependencies, so we had to set it up as Sprints > Project > Tasks and have all the teams set up inside the same sprint. It wasn't super easy to link task dependencies to each other that I found when using it. Trying to schedule out people's time off was near impossible, to the point we stopped trying and just reduced their time dedicated to the project by the amount of time they were taking off. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Every project management software has plusses and minuses. It really depends what you're looking for in the software. Hansoft does a fantastic job in building out a project, especially in the backlog. The feature improvements I saw while I was using Hansoft was reassuring that they are listening to their customer base. Their customer support is great, usually responding within 24 hours (and a lot of time, same-day). **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've shipped several games using Hansoft as our project management software. I really enjoyed using the backlog to prioritize epics as well as nest the broken-down stories under the epics. Hansoft does an excellent job with nesting stories and tasks. ### 16. As well as the flexibility of how to manipulate that data for various PM purposes. Simple things like capacity planning do not make sense to provide an accurate high level representation of how resources are being allocated and where there's capacity to take on more. Also, to get the data we need, there's a lot of administrative overhead. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Like many companies, ensure that you have properly outlined your requirements and what you are looking for in a tool, what needs you want to address, and how scaleable it is throughout the organization before committing to a product. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Due to these challenges we aren't able to realize a lot of benefits aside from having a centralized location to track progress of tasks and effort at a very basic level. ### 17. However, we discovered that it does not support any vendors such as BitBucket or GitHub which we need to link projects to commits. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Do not purchase this if you are looking for integration into source control at this time. For everything else, this product works wonderfully. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Everyone now understands the roadmap and where projects are with the various teams with little effort. We have visibility into each team without having to go through a lot of manual status updates. Having the velocity metric also helps us plan for future sprints and look back at past ones in a simple manner. ### 18. Hansoft is flexible and easy to adapt to the needs of the organisation or project. It's the only tool I've come across my 20+ years in SW development that is revered by developers, project managers and line management. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** Support to export the timeline view is missing. Screenshots is a workaround but support to make PDF's would be nice. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Try it using the free version. The online manual is a very good companion when getting to know Hansoft. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hansoft makes it easier to see the current status of projects. Less time is spent on meetings. Hansoft also enables efficient multi-site development (i.e. less travel). ### 19. There are quite a few different options, so getting familiar with them, and learning how to set them up correctly and efficiently was difficult form me. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Organizing product backlog into manageable parts, transparency to team members, ability to track team members/accountability. ### 20. Easy to change order. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** User Interface, leaves something to wish for.. I find it hard to navigate in the product. Editing stories can be a bit.... cumbersom. Too small boxes. I am not that happy with direct saving (making it hard to revert changes). Search function is not that good to use. Only using Story points has its backdraws as we sometimes want to specify days instead. Integration with our other tools (mainly code versioning) is lacking. Having a primary ID (that do not change) in the main view would have helped a lot when referencing stories from outside. The URLs include the header (that might change). Creating iterations, and set date for them, is a hassle. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Consider if the integration with other tools is enough. **What problems is P4 Plan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Does support our Agile way of working. ### 21. Another project that I was associated with was using this tool and I was pretty impressed by how easy is this software to use. It definitely provides a good and a clean way to combine all of our project management needs at one destination. Prior to this, we have been using sticky notes, oral tracking and some other crude tracking methods. However, with Hansoft, Agile management is more structured. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** There is nothing much I really dislike of this. I guess they have well desgned it and everything seems ok. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** None at this point. Hansoft is highly flexible, and the only product I evaluated that permitted combinations of Agile/SCRUM and classical scheduling within a single project. Performance (being local) is great, and reporting/analytics are better than competitors I evaluated. **What do you dislike about P4 Plan?** -Interfaces: misleadingly poor GIT integration (doesn't integrate with major GIT vendors like GITHub, BitBucket etc.) -Weak permissions model (not enough granularity) -Import/export can be tricky. **Recommendations to others considering P4 Plan:** Great product. Better visualization in terms of creating an atonomy of US and Epics.
