As a QA Test Lead, I did an extensive market research while developing our Test Automation Strategy, and I can confidently say that Original Software emerged as the clear leader in IBMi automation with no competitors. One of the outstanding key differenciator of Original Software is its versatility, while it excels in automating IBMi applications, it is equally capable of automating any type of applications like web app, mobile app, API's, desktop applications, etc. It's basically a One-Stop-Stop for all your automation needs. TestDrive Tool had a user-friendly interface, The straightforward navigation significantly reduces the learning curve for new users and even non-technical users, Thanks to their LMS for a well documented learning portal. Original Software's customer support is excellent in my experience . Their team is always available and consistently responds to my queries almost immediately, demonstrating a commitment to customer satisfaction that is truly commendable. In summary, Original Software's TestBench and TestDrive have not only streamlined our testing processes but have also provided us with confidence in our automation strategy. I highly recommend these products to any organization looking to enhance their test automation capabilities, particularly for IBMi systems. **What do you dislike about Original Software?** While I have had a largely positive experience with Original Software's TestBench and TestDrive, there are some areas that could benefit from improvement. During a proof of concept (POC) for our web application test automation using TestDrive, we encountered some challenges, particularly for non-technical team members. Although it is marketed as a low code no code automation tool, we found that automating more complex scenarios required a certain level of development knowledge. This was a challenge for my team as we lacked having resources with a strong technical background, also limited the usage of tool by other non-tech users in the department such as BA's & Managers. **What problems is Original Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** At my company we still use the legacy Mainframe application - IBMi, which was previously known as AS400 or Green Screen. We decided to Test Automate IBMi and the immediate challenge we encountered was choosing a Tool that's best suited for such a legacy application with outdated programming language.While there are many toold that claims to automate a mainframe, but they don't support IBMi green screen, There comes Original Software, It seems like they are the one and only company who can seamlessly automate AS400. With their TestBench we have automated Data extraction, Data anonimisation or data scrambling process which has made our lifes so much easier now. Currently I'm in the process of evaluating TestDrive for IBMi and I believe the results will be fruitful. This transition will benefit our testing team for our team, as we spend lot of time in doing repeated tasks manually. With Original Software, we can now automate many of our repetitive testing processes, significantly reducing the workload on our testers. ### 2. Ease of using the system - once you get going it is very intuitive and simple to use. My customer success manager Mark Wheatly has been exceptional, he is very supportive, he listens to all my questions and comments and will come back to be with suggestions for how i can use the system better, becuase he has been thinking about what we are trying to do and has ideas to constantly improve our testing processes. he always has time, even when i've given him large problems to solve with no warning. he has also built my confidence when i've needed it. **What do you dislike about Original Software?** that assigning the tests is done via surname first - i know all the testers in my buisness by first name, i do not always know surnames. i have to go and look in teams to find their surname to assign the tests - i have raised this with my customer success manager. **What problems is Original Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** we have used the system for more than testing, we created videos of how to use our new system - these have been converted into how to guides and have aided in writing test steps while we are still training ourselves. **Official Response from Alex Knight:** > Thanks for your review Claire! Several key processes are tested automatically and running on pre defined schedules **What do you dislike about Original Software?** Specific applications need a specific option set is needed; creating these option sets can be difficult and time consuming. However, support is great and OS will help you creating these option sets. Cloud applications can behave different after uodates, causing the automations to fail; so rework needs to be done. They are well suited for pre-go-live testing (by user and IT communities) as well as automated regression testing. Overall their solutions allow software competencies center to offer a flexible "insurance policy" against software defects, both visible (because the software or the overall process breaks) or invisible on the surface but having deep down the line impacts. Their solution was implemented in a matter of weeks, and the first protection consisting of a couple business scenarios was live within 6 weeks. This is mostly due to the ease of use of the tool. Within 2 years 200 scenarios were tested weekly, and the coverage still grows both in terms of scenarios and tested software platforms (SAP GUI, SAP S/4 Fiori, SalesForce, billing portal, customer portal...). From a relationship front OriginalSoftware is considered as a true partner and is there by our side to tackle any new challenge at all levels, from the trenches thru their excellent customer support to the executive level with their partnership mindset. **What do you dislike about Original Software?** While I personally perceive this as an advantage OriginalSoftware remains smaller that its direct competitors, which can be a hurddle for big organizations looking for big name partners. My experience is however that this allows them to be nimble and offer a customer experience rarely seen with tier-1 vendors. **What problems is Original Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** Their products support a weekly regression testing cycle for an SAP ERP ecosystem. 300+ business processes are automatically run by the system, and the differences with the previous run (typically before changes are implemented) are automatically identified. They're brought up to the team of analyst who contributed to the new release, and they only have to focus on validating the changing. Considering the multiple stakeholders involved in any given process performing the same manually would takes weeks.
