**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** AKHIL K. | Test Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

It's the best virtual machine available and it's free of cost. Simple to install and easy to learn. I tried virtual box to work with Pysark installed in ubuntu. To work with the different OS I never had to install it to the system. We can change the parameters easily in UI depending on the space available and ram. I tried different OS such as Ubuntu, Macintosh, and Solaris and oracle VM works perfectly smooth in all those setups.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

We cant drag and drop a file from our host system to the virtual machine. This makes it very difficult to accomplish many of my tasks. Initial setup is a lengthy process and consumes a lot of time. Apart from this everything works fine and am pretty happy with Oracle VM.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

If you want to try different OS on a single machine. It's the best tool you have to go for. It saves a lot of time and it's totally free. You don't have to buy a separate OS and install it into the system. The user interface is very attractive and easy to use. We can optimize our VM based on the requirement. Easy to learn and use.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using oracle virtual machine for the past 1 year to deal with pyspark installed on ubuntu OS. It's very difficult to install Pyspark on windows so I searched for an alternative to fix the same and finally landed in Oracle VM. If we install a separate OS in our system it consumes a lot of time and space. Oracle VM is a savior in this case. We can optimize VM based on our requirements and available space.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

Sometimes, product updates can be a bit complicated to be understood but at the same time these are communicated well in advance, explained and anyone can learn how to understand these.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quite many because now it's deffinetly needed to have a cloud infrastructure that can respond fast to the needs in terms of costs, elasticity and scalability on big businesses or smaller.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM is the best virtual machine that supports environments of various OS such as Windows, Linux, macOS. The feature to create a virtual machine of any OS is the best . We can make any VM and use that VM to perform desired operations.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

The feature of creating a VM is itself the best thing ever. We can make it and use that VM for tasks. Oracle VM should improve the frontend of its application so that when users create any VM, it is easy for them to interact

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Use Oracle VM for creating any OS VM.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Oracle VM to create a virtual machine for my ease. I am a Windows user, and I use Linux OS for command purposes, so I make a VM of Linux and use that for Linux command.

  ### 25. Best software to use multiple operating systems

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naresh R. | RTL design engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

What I like best is Oracle VM is it provides a simple and user-friendly environment while we want to use multiple operating systems on a single PC. It provides the best security for the user data. It prevents data loss and data correction while we are using two different operating systems. It help's so many people who are willing to work with different platforms at a time. Mainly it is very using full for the Windows operating system user because they can switch between Ubuntu and windows simultaneously.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

What I dislike about the Oracle VM it doesn't have a good graphical user interface so users may feel difficulty while using the Oracle VM. Sometimes it takes too much time to open the other operating system.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me so much in accessing different applications which it could install on different operating platforms. It saved my time a lot while switching between different operating systems. Users can get fast access while fetching data between two platforms. Great security futures it has.

  ### 27. Stable Virtualization Platforms, License Compliance, Poor functionalities and Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roberto F. | Gerente Infraestructura TI, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

We used Oracle VM for SPARC PROCESSORS for virtualized our databases running on Solaris OS, for our X86 Processors we found that Oracle VM Server does the job, it let us create a virtual machine in a stable platform that it is compliance with the Oracle License agreement (Oracle Soft Partitioning for virtualization).

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

Management is not intuitive Backups Operation, you must design your own plan

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

"For virtualization platform its lacks of a lot of functionalities when you compare it with VMware vSphere and Hyper-V. Oracle VM Server does the job that it was design for, it lets you virtualize virtual machines running with Oracle Red Hat Enterprise Server as Hypervisor, and then you must deploy a separate server like your ORACLE VM Management which deploy an agent on Oracle VM Server to manage it. In order to have a Cluster and Live Migration (Vmotion in vmware) you must configure a container, it will be a server pool. We got a bunch of physical servers running Oracle VM Server and their main objective it to virtualize servers that runs oracle products because oracle recognized as software portioning Oracle VM Server for licenses oracle products such like databases and WebLogic without licensing the whole processors."

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Licensing Management
- Partitioning Issues
- Consolidate Servers

  ### 28. Bring order to several frameworks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harold M. | Consultor de tecnologia, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM is very easy to install, without having to have deep and complex knowledge to create, run and even export virtual machines. Compared to VMWare, Oracle VM causes me a lot less problems, besides being a much cheaper solution. It also turns out to be very easy to configure and use, even for our senior employees, who are the ones with less computer skills. This makes Oracle VM the ideal choice for beginners in programming.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

On more occasions than I would like, Oracle VM works slow. I think this is because its interface is unstable. Another thing is that it usually locks and shows an error message when certain tasks are being executed, and although this is not so common it really complicates our activities and delays us.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle VM VirtualBox is a recommended tool for small businesses, with computers that have at least 8 GB of RAM and the rest of the decent resources. If your goal is to transmit work frames, this tool is for you. It is also ideal for programming.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my company's IT department, all members use Oracle VM Virtual Box for different reasons. Personally, I use it to work with several frameworks, to bring order to each other. Also to run applications with basic hardware, without using the total resources of the main PC. We used VMWare before, but since we discovered Oracle VM 3 years ago, we can conclude that it works better, since it greatly facilitates our development process.

  ### 29. Oracle VM for multiple different actions in the IT department

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Annie S. | Director Of Information Technology, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM makes it very easy and straightforward to configure a system and replicate specific hardware scenarios. It comes with guides that explain exactly how to get an optimum performance on your Virtual Machine. They are guiding you to every step, so it minimizes the chance of making mistakes. I love that it supports virtualization in several operating systems, such as: Windows, Linux, Warp Solaris / and even Android.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

The main issue of running Oracle VM is the memory usage, as it takes a lot of your RAM when it's running and your computer may run slower than usual. The Full screen mode is confusing too, as shorcuts are a bit difficult to remember. Also, the library where the VM is located could be arranged to be shown in a better display. The more powerful our computer is, the loss of performance will be noticed.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

OracleVM VirtualBox provides a safe environment for making all the testing you need on different OS. In the event that you are thinking to take Oracle VM for individual use, it's a good choice.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle VM is used for multiple different actions in the IT department, such as: test virtual machines, production machines and jumpboxes. It offers a safety environment for testing the compatibility of a new software into different OS. It is so easy to do this as the UI enables the client to change a large portion of the parameters included.

  ### 30. Easy to setup and high performence

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

- Virtualbox is a complete virtualization solution, works great on servers or home needs.
- The main advantage is the cost: zero. It offers all the virtualization technologies available in the market, compatibility with operating systems, through additional guests.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

- The only disappointment i have faced is the connection of a USB stick to the machine. I have did every possible way to get ti work, but i failed. There are no good tutorials on the internet about the software which i believe is the main draw back for this software.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- I use VM everytime at my work place to do all the office related work.
- It is very convenient to easily switch between the VM and my OS and can work parallel.

  ### 31. Test accessible software safely

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frederick D. | IT Implementer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

What I like most about Oracle VM VirtualBox is its flexibility. You can turn up various VMs on a single PC, something that allows you test software or apps in several situations and see how they will run on different OS or on a PC with specific characteristics. It's also very customizable, so we can attach it to different networks, change environment settings, import/export virtual machines, etc. Also, it can be installed in any operating system and be able to use all programs, either private or free, since you have no restrictions for use.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

What I least like about this software is that sometimes some simulations are very slow to install and use, I don't know if its because of my computer or because VirtualBox system. For example, I am having 25 FPS when I am on Linux Software, and internet can be very slow there and I can find way to exit VirtualBox simulation. This is because your RAM will split in half.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle VM will respond like a real computer, where you can manually make every modification to the settings easily.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Oracle VM VirtualBox I am installing windows 10 on my computer which I don't know if it's gonna turn well for me, and just simulate it and see how is my computer reacting on it. It represents an extraordinary tool for my association, as it enables us to test other accessible software, by running them straightforwardly on the virtual condition. With Oracle VM, we have the ability to do this without the developers needing to have full admin rights on their machines.

  ### 32. We use it to show our clients our software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George T. | Information Technology Infrastructure Specialist, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Dealing with Oracle VM VirtualBox is very easy, specially if you have a decent experience with programming. You can easily deal with the assets of a VM and set it exactly how you want it. Also, it allows you to run distinctive working frameworks, so you can access to several OS on a single host P and experiment with the reaction of any software under any new environment.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

You may find yourself having connectivity or operating issues with the virtual machines. The good thing is that these situations come whenever you're making important changes on the VM, so if you're going to do this, you can make a copy of the VM so you can save your progress.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle VM is recommended for coders and programmers working in IT departments. It's a great option for anyone wanting to access to a working framework for testing before getting it. Also, it allows you to use any program without having to set them up in the host's machine, for memory and security purposes.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle VM is a great platform. In the IT department, we used it to try out PowerShell contents against counterfeit Active Directory situations that we have spun up, and it has enabled us to test code for exhibits. Besides, we use Oracle VM to show our clients our most recent software, and we're always able to appropriately demonstrate code executing on any respective OS.

  ### 33. Environment portability

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shane O. | IT Supervisor, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM allows for environment portability, where you can choose the exact configuration you want for your VM. The interface shows every detail about all your VMs in one place, so you can check the state of the machines and their specifications. Also, you're able to import or export VM images to share them with the rest of your team. In case you make a mistake, it offers environment snapshots, so you can easily revert any changes you have made

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

There are some problems with the host hardware, as some of them are not supported. You must install the respective driver on every VM to have access to it.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle VM will respond like a real computer, where you can manually make every modification to the settings easily. It will allow you to deploy operating systems and install software, devices or drivers. Most of the configurations can be done using the GUI, but there are several tools and commands that can be used through the CLI. However, consider it's complicated to set up a VM for Linux, forcing you to perform configurations to the OS.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle VM is quite extensively used at our company to visualize software. Although it is mainly used by the software engineers, almost every member of the IT department knows how to use this tool. Every member has its own virtual machine, where they run tests on software, and then we have a single developer virtual machine that all of us use to evaluate it in team. The developer support and the replication of problems has become much easier with Oracle VM, because we’re all running software under identical environments.

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM is a free solution, so we don't have to purchase licenses, that tend be expensive in similar software. It has a very complete set of commands to control functionality, as well as a simple UI, if you are not a terminal guy. Besides, It allows you to support multiple OS, so you can use several of them in a single computer. Also, it allows for environment replication, which means you can duplicate a VM and use it on another computer, and you can use hypervisor to run any version of Windows and Linux without issues. Personally, I use it with vagrant to set up a provisioning process on-the-go and it works pretty well.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

Sometimes you have to change BIOS settings to enable virtualization.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle VM is well suited for running servers and databases in the background that require little user interaction. It's well-suited for small companies because it's free and supports Vagrant, a great consideration for software developers who need separate machines for developing their work. Howeverm it's not well suited for software that require 3D hardware acceleration.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle VM is a solution used in the IT department by our developers for running machines in development environments. Each developer can have its own machines running in their own environment, and they don't interfere with other members of the team doing the same task. Thanks to Oracle VM VirtualBox, development machines can quickly be installed for new developers or re-installed for existing developers, if required.

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM VirtualBox is great in so many ways. It’s simple, easy to use and setup is very quick, taking only a couple of minutes. You can create countless VMs and run them simultaneously, although it depends on the resources of your workstation. Not only that, but I can have multiple OS running simultaneously and with the specific characteristics of my choose. Also, It facilitates the use of docker and containerizing workloads via development desktops. I think it provides the rightful native environment for testing different OS.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

Although Oracle VM VirtualBox can simulate several environments, simulating a Mac environment is a bit difficult. You have to set it up too specifically so it can run with no bugs. Also, it doesn’t have documentation, especially when trying to run VMs with unusual drivers.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

I would recommend Oracle VM VirtualBox if your team needs to constantly run VMs with a GUI. Also, if you’re new to virtual machines, this can be a really good introduction.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle VM VirtualBox is the tool we deployed in the IT department so every member can build and share their respective developer environments. When one of the IT members find an issue with a specific environment, the rest of the team gets into work to rebuild it together. If this environment needs to be modified or updated, everyone is able to run the same build scripts to do so. It has a feature where we can take a snapshot of the VM, so we’re able to return to previous states in the development environment, which is perfect for fixing mistakes.

  ### 36. Oracle VM for testing software and apps

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beatriz M. | IT Staff, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM is free and it’s still reliable, something hard to tell with other free products out there. Also, setting-up, running machines and manage resources of any VM can be done with basic computer knowledge. Software virtualization is possible with a couple of clicks when using Oracle VM. Also, it works well with Vagrant, so it enables an easy setting up for machines in any desired state.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

It’s uncommon, but I have found some errors that tend to crash the VM, especially some errors with OVF/OVA images, where these have been ignored in the startup and install sections. Also, if the main computer goes to sleep mode, machines seem to lose network connectivity, tend to crash and, sometimes, even their clocks goes out of sync.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

For small or mid-size companies, Oracle VM is a great choice, as you can save a lot of money you would spend on other platforms and you’d still get a good performance. In case you have any doubt, you can check Oracle VM documentation and you can solve any doubt you may have. On the other hand, it tends to show bugs sometimes, so beware and save your VM state regularly.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company develops and tests software and since we started using Oracle VM, around 3 years ago, our job has become more effective almost instantly. The interface is very easy to set-up and run. When we make any advance on the project, we can export/import VMs and it can be tested by other member of the team in his own workstation. I can save VMs for future use or share them with my colleagues. I specially use it for running Windows OS inside my MacBook, so I don’t have to purchase a separate Windows installed laptop. Running Linux VMs is very easy with Oracle VM.

  ### 37. Virtualization and customization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Feit T. | IT Supervisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM is free of any fees or subscriptions, and this makes it a great option considering everything it’s very cost effective to manage and handle. The customization of the resources can be done easily. Even if there’s something you can’t find, there is a lot of documentation out there so you can customize your solutions. You can even get detailed environment configuration with suggestions based on your host system's resources, so the possibilities are infinite with this software.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

Although there is a lot of documentation of the software, it’s very hard to find answers. If you have a specific issue, you will have to review a lot of the documentation in order to get the rightful solution. Also, this software takes a lot of resources from your PC. For example, if you want to run Ubuntu in your VM you will need at least 8GB of Ram, and the performance may not be as smooth as you’d like. Also, the 3D graphics acceleration performance is pathetic, so avoid using it.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

I consider Oracle VM is great for companies in charge of develop software or apps. You will have a safe place to test the performance of your products. One huge recommendation is that you have to enable the virtualization on the computer or server in order to run Oracle VM. This is done through the bios.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle VM VirtualBox is one of the most important tools in the IT department, as we use it for virtualization and testing of the software and app developed by my company. We can see how our products are performing under different circumstances, as with Oracle VM we can install different operating systems and even customize the resources from the machine.

  ### 38. Virtualization and customization on the table

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** bill c. | Marketing Staff, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Although it was implemented several years go in my company, tt was the first virtualization tool I ever used and it was incredibly simple to install and learn. Then I used VMWare, but I decided to stay with Oracle VM it had a better performance with a cheaper price. I love that I can choose all settings from the VM, so I can create exactly the type of environment I want in order to test a product.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM is installed across several computers in the IT department and some of them showed an error the first time I was trying to open a VM. After searching online I discovered I had to permit virtualization through BIOS. I still don't know why it only happens in a few computers, but this process when slow and unpleasant. Also, there are some issues with the drivers, like a 3D video driver I'm unable to add, regardless of the customization I make to the VM.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle VM is a platform well-suited for companies or personals wanting to learn about virtualization arrangements. Companies in charge of developing apps, websites and solutions could run all their tests in a safe and controlled environment with Oracle VM.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle VM is a great tool to virtualization! I use it in the IT department to effectively deal with several virtual machines and make all customization I need. This solution is perfect when it comes to deal with several working frameworks and applications using few resources from hardware, considerably less than if I would run it on the main PC.

  ### 39. For testing apps, software and other products

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** summer k. | IT Team, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

When I started at my company, I didn’t know how to use VirtualBox, but I discovered how easy and intuitive this software was, and I could master it completely in a couple of weeks. As VirtualBox is widely used across the IT department, I never had to install the OS I wanted to work with. It was as simple as open the VM that some of my colleague sent me with the OS installed, and I could start working on it right away. Another thing I like is that VirtualBox is a very popular software among the IT community, so it’s not difficult to find help on online forums regardless of any doubt you may have.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

When trying to access to VirtualBox for the first time, some computers show an error and you have to allow virtualization through the bios, making it a tedious and long process. Also, when getting into full screen it is almost impossible to come back to regular size, as this change has to be done with a shortcut that’s hard to remember. Also, there are issues with the drivers, which doesn’t necessarily come installed with the OS, so you have to install them manually.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Recommended for network builders, programmers, coders and software engineers wanting to test their products on different virtual environments. Make sure the computer you use has enough RAM and enough memory to allocate the VM, as they may be heavy in some cases. Also, if you want to have practice on system assurance, VirtualBox is perfect for the job.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From the first day I started working on my company I noticed that VirtualBox was one of the software most used in there. It is the tool selected for deploying our testing Virtual Machines. Every developer, software engineer and programmer gets into VirtualBox to test all of their products within different operating systems and versions of themselves. The main point of getting into a VM is detecting how the product will respond in different machines, under different circumstances.

  ### 40. Test your software with different OS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** samara j. | IT Team, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Although it’s used for complex purposes, the setup and usage of Oracle VM is simple and fast. Also, it doesn’t limit itself to Windows, as it allows the installation of almost every OS on the market. It even runs uncommon OS, like Kali Linux, giving us the chance to test it first before implementing it into a physical workstation. Another thing is that Oracle VM is able to emulated several Virtual Machines and run them at the same time, adding to them as many specifics characteristics as you wish, saving a lot of time on turning a machine off and changing its settings.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

Even when it does a great job on creating and setting up a VM, it still lacks of some important features when it comes to the connection with the physical and virtual machine. For example: when inserting a flash memory via USB on the physical machine it does not appear on the VM. In case I would like to view those Files and folders inside a VM, I would have to copy from the flash and paste it within the VM, making this process tedious. I think if it would automatic it would simplify a lot of things.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

If you work as a software developer, Oracle VM could be a great tool for you when you're on the evaluation phase, testing how it’s going to perform in different environments. Also, if you’re considering to buy an OS, you may want to test it first, and to avoid putting in risk your own machine, you can always use a VM for these purposes. Another recommendation is to use Oracle VM if you want to use a software without having it installed in your own computer. You can install it within a VM and it will always be set for you.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company develops software and Oracle VM is an excellent tool for testing them on different OS, with different connectivity settings and within a machine with different parameters. What’s great about Oracle VM is that we can do all that on a single PC with this solution installed.

  ### 41. A tool for setting and testing new solutions in a safe environment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** rubi r. | IT Team, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

Oracle VM gives user the control to change as many parameters as needed, even for setting up bridged network, with just a few steps to follow. It comes with guides that explain exactly how to get an optimum performance on your Virtual Machine. What I like the most is the feature for Saving state, when I can just leave the session right there an return exactly where I was. The UI is very simplified, without long menus and instructions. And, of course, it’s free!

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

This solution still lacks of some basic features, like printing or opening USB devices from the host’s computer. Also, the Full screen mode is confusing. It sometimes opens by accident the shortcut for returning it to its right size is confusing. Finally, I was forced to download the guest OS addon to put sound on the OS. This should be done automatically.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle VM is a perfect solution for members of the IT department working on developing new software. It provides a safe environment for making all the testing you need on different OS.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle VM is used all across the IT department individually or in teams to create, set and test new solutions we develop or purchased. It offers a safety environment for testing the compatibility of a new software into different OS. We also use Oracle VM for training exercises, creating an internal network for developing software, setting a safety environment for developers to practice.

  ### 42. Modify all the parameters of your own VM

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** bailey b. | IT Team, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

The greatest things about this solution are: it’s free, open source, easy to install and to learn, the UI is informative and gives user the ability to change all the Virtual Machine parameters and you’re able to save the current state of a local Virtual Machine, so you can return and continue exactly where you left off.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

Setting up the network settings may be the only complicated parameter to change on Oracle VM. It comes with NAT by default and you have to turn off the Virtual Machine in order to switch the networks settings each time. Another thing is that the VM does not always allowed some drivers. You have to get the specifically ad don to the current OS.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle is perfectly suited for IT companies and IT departments in general, when professionals want to create or test apps or software in safe environments. Also, it's a great way to hold information out of your regular workstation, saving space and making it easily transportable.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are long time clients of Oracle, as we own several licenses for Oracle software, and Oracle VM fits very well into our collection. We implement this software when we want to run solutions on a safe environment without compromising the security or resources of the main workstation. It’s so simple to use that all of our IT department knows how to create, set up and export a Virtual Machine.

  ### 43. Overview of Oracle VM

**Reviewed by:** Anita P. | Research Scientist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

I think the best feature is the ability to run different kinds of operating systems through this. I have tried loading up CentOS, MAC, and Fedora through the VM and they have worked pretty smoothly. Great portability and the multiscreen resolutions are great.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

A little slow when you are running a lot of virtual machines, and slow to load up.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle VM is a great way to manage virtual machines and work on multiple platforms at the same time. I have enjoyed relying on VM for that.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I mainly use the VM to administer our systems and monitor their activities. With strong processing power, it has definitely made my job a lot faster and easier. I also like that it is easy to set up.

  ### 44. #1 software on the IT Department

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** roland p. | IT Staff, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle VM?**

What I like the most is that it's a very simple process to setup the software and it's very simple to use, coming with a UI that gives user the power to change a wide scope of the machine's parameters before beginning the Virtual Machine. Another thing is that this solution has several guides for ideal virtual machine execution to take the most benefit for the utilization.

**What do you dislike about Oracle VM?**

Although there is an uncountable amount of information online about this software, it is difficult to find specific replies on the documentation. Also, the updates are not done automatically, they have to be done manually, which is annoying and takes too much time. I would like this to be fixed.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle VM:**

Oracle VM is an ideal answer for programmers, software engineers and developers who need to run some virtual machines for improvement and testing purposes. It can likewise work great in situations where there's a complex virtual that has to be tested. However, as an advice, try not to anticipate that it should turn into your answer for supplant a pack of servers with better performance for virtualization.

**What problems is Oracle VM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

On the IT department, we use Oracle VM VirtualBox to assemble separated virtual workstations and to test software on different OS. Detached virtual workstations enable the user to get to the desired conditions without reconfigure the host’s PC. This significantly helps with anticipating inadvertent harm to my own framework and access to my essential condition.
