If the queries are running slow or the application is sluggish, OEM is the first place we login ot find more insights. The patching features is really boon for DBA's , it helps us to manage the databases and keep them updated centrally. i also use it to monitor the applications like PeopleSoft , we have created Beacons that are used to monitor and check the login for The peopleSoft applications , we are managing hundreds of Oracle Databases and multiple PeopleSoft application instances using OEM **What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?** Intuitive clicking or drill down , like database performance analyzer does , i do not like the way information is presented in different tabs and links and navigation , i need to remember where i need to go to get what , i central drill down for complete information. I like that they continue to improve it and make it easier to use. Not every thing operates the exact same way. It gives real time depth analysis report for continuous monitoring. we use OEM for to monitor our SOA stacks. we do use for DB monitoring for performance tuning. we high recommend OEM for large scale enterprise applications. **What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?** Despite the over experience is good, we do see some issues with the OEM schema DB's and performance been hit low some time. We have also had some hiccups when test driving the application where we needed to shutdown services and databases to get it started. Another demerit is that EM12c R2 is certified with BI Publisher 11.1.1.6.0 only. Ability to write metric and deploy them to multiple databases. Scheduling RMAN backup jobs are much easier with EM console. Ability to monitor the host availability. **What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?** Database->Control (Startup and Shutdown). It's great being able to see that all the information you need is in front of you on the screen. There are links that allow you to kill sessions or to check your performance. When I do leave it running, the CPU fan kicks on, and I can hear it running.
