**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

It's easy to use. One centralized tool is able to monitor and manage all our oracle products, such as WCP, SOA, BPM, OPA, OHS, WLS, DB, IDM, AVDF, etc. Our enterprise project has been using OEM for more than 5 years now, which is hosted in the OCI (Oracle Infrastructure Cloud) data centers. OEM is easy to use, which requires small learning curve for new admins. When using OEM along with other OCI products such as OMC (Oracle Management Cloud) and OAC (Oracle Analytics Cloud), now you have a complete Cloud offering to monitor and manage your entire enterprise systems.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

It requires some skills for our administrators to master this tool. Individual products such as SOA/BPM only has its small EM, so it can be confusing with the big OEM cloud control. OEM doesn't monitor RUEI or OKV products natively, so some custom scripting is required. In our enterprise project, we are also moving OEM's data masking functions to OCI DataSafe, because of the ease of use from latter. We also need to supplement OEM to use OMC (Oracle Management Cloud) to supplement the log analytics functions along with decommissioning of the RUEI (Real User Experience Insight).

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need a centralized tool to monitor and manage all of our Oracle products in OCI, for all our 13 SDLC and Production & DR environments. OEM is easy to use, which requires small learning curve for new admins. When using OEM along with other OCI products such as OMC (Oracle Management Cloud) and OAC (Oracle Analytics Cloud), now you have a complete Cloud offering to monitor and manage your entire enterprise systems. At the end of the day, it improves our architecture maturity and business productivity and meets our 99.5% system uptime SLA, with proactive monitoring alerts and email notifications to our dashboard.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

It's pretty simple, and i like that you can find functions in more than one place

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Since you can find similar functions in more than one place, it can cause issues to occur, such as writing over areas that you shouldn't be touching. SAP usually has more places that can be blocked and not as easily accessible multiple ways.

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Supply chain issues, MRP, data management

  ### 38. Fantastic diagnostic tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Will E. | Unix Team Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

The level of detail and long-term history are its two main strengths. Being able to go back in time before a problem began, without having to consciously sample data for a baseline, is a HUGE help.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Getting database credentials from DBAs is a pain, albeit necessary for security.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Enterprise Manager:**

No question: use OEM (now called Oracle Grid Control, I believe).

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identifying what part of the software stack is causing a performance problem allows us to focus our trouble-shooting resources. This gets us back to full production faster and with less drama.

As most of our database storage is using Oracle, with using Oracle Enterprise Manager, it is easier for us to manage the visualize the performance and availability of them.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

The infrastructure and agent based require updates takes significant time and manage. The team helped to support Oracle Enterprise Manager reported the upgrade issue to Oracle to address the complexity and bugs appeared during and after upgrade.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Enterprise Manager:**

For basic Oracle Enterprise Manager, it is free. But in order to do more in depth usage, it is recommended to buy additional Oracle diagnostics pack, and tuning pack that's help DBA to manage and tune database in more effective way.

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We made use of OEM to manage Database performance monitoring. Application team can use own account to see what's problem happen in database and Database administrator can get involve and in sync with application to improve the gap of troubleshooting any database performance issu.e

Its verstality, details reporting output and security are the key features which we like the most in our organization

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Some times it becomes very spesific while dealing with its interface and commands options, which make this a bit difficuilt for new user to understand,

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Enterprise Manager:**

Its training is very important, if you are paying for it please include training in your budget

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are dealing with our Human resources department, Payroll, Procurement, Invetory and other core funcitons of our organization.

  ### 41. More integration with other databases including DB2

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rodrigo M. | IT Manager , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

We are very happy with OEM 13c and the main features we liked is the automation patch feature and monitoring databases itself that make us easy to reach a rca and resolve some performance quickly. Also advisors and ASR and great features. The app navegability is good too.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Would be good to have more options on proxy configuration as some proxy products are different like bluecoat or may be more documentation on how configure it using this product. And on many environments we are having to create additional listeners on NOC network beacause network team restrict access from monitoring databases from NOC network and not uses data network interfaces.
Would be great DB2 mainly integration (more than exists today) so we can used it as a pattern for our environment as IBM is not doing so much improvement on DSM Product.

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Resolving performance problems

  ### 42. Great Product For Database Monitoring

**What do you like best about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

It easy to install and easy to add new database for monitoring. Beside, able to create alert is a great feature.

This tool provides powerful support as means of monitoring databases in easy way. You are able to create alert and has problem notification which is great functionality!

  ### 43. We use it for Oracle fusion middleware family and Databases

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim R. | Team Manager, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Oracle Enterprise Manager provides a single point of control for your applications and databases. It provides out of box automation in form of monitoring templates and reporting templates. I also love the new Administrative Group introduced in 13.1 version onward.
It's a single point for patch control for all your deployments being monitored through OEM.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

While OEM makes monitoring super convenient and eliminates scope of human/scripting errors, administration using OEM requires special skills.
Also, OEM is resouce intensive and uses flash for loading pages with heavy charts and diagrams on it. This is quite slow. I have heard that in the new versions, Oracle is planning to use Jet instead of Flash to handle the slow page loading problems.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Enterprise Manager:**

There are multiple versions of the product available at the same time. We usually prefer to go one minor version less, since the most latest one is still being tested and not stable version.

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We currently use it for monitoring our large number of Oracle and MS SQL databases as well as fusion middleware products.such as WebLogic, Tuxedo and Oracle BPM.

  ### 44. Oracle Enterprise Manager Leads on capabilities, scalabilities and easy of use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorge C. | Chief Operating Officer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Enterprise Manager just helps us, from a different point of views, starting from: Helping us to setup notification alarms, configure thressholds and people interested in receiving the alerts

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

The price for other product integration, such SQL Server, it is expensive for a lot of customers, and actually the most part of clients are just using Enterprise Manager with Oracle products, and they have another complementary tools like solarwinds, Quest Moniroting tools, etc.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Enterprise Manager:**

Lower the prices for third party targets

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In a couple of words helps to centralice monitoring needs and to provide proactive monitoring and helping us to react on time for some critical alerts

  ### 45. Seamless Integration

**What do you like best about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Oracle Enterprise Manager is the solution for those companies with a wide variety of skills. Whether your group have a highly refined trade skill or a Masters degree, they will be able to integrate Oracle seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

My one and only complaint with this device is that you have to be connected on-site when opening the app for the first time. The past two times I have purchased a new device, I needed to access our secure intranet the same evening. Unfortunately, I was unable to do this until having it reinstalled/validated the next day.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Enterprise Manager:**

Just bite the bullet - Oracle Enterprise Manager is the best of the best!!

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle has increased my productivity in ways that I never dreamed! The seamless integration across all devices has provided me the opportunity to access our network from anywhere. Gone are the days of “well I wonder if I can remote in here” or “who will be up this early and at the office for me to call and BEG for help?” Oracle solves everything. Everything.

I used oracle at my job at a call center for database management. I like that you can leave very detailed notes and create tickets with many different drop down options

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Taking payments in Oracle was confusing and often the whole program would freeze causing me to restart my entire computer

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Enterprise Manager:**

Oracle is very faceted and can be used for a lot of backend data storage.

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle helped me be able to track orders in a streamlined way (check the status, what shipping method was used, etc)

  ### 47. Monitoring and Administration for Oracle Enterprise Products

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Oracle Enterprise Manager is a sophisticated monitoring and administration tool. It's easy to install and easy to add targets (monitoring targets). I like the security administration and patch recommendations. You don't have to look for required patches, OEM does it for you based on the targets you have added into it.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

It's a resource intensive product. It uses a lot of CPU and memory. Also, licensing is complicated, apart from Base version, most components are individually licensed.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Enterprise Manager:**

It's an expensive product but if you have already purchased an enterprise license for product like Oracle Database, then you get to use OEM Base version for free.

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Oracle Enterprise Manager to perform real-time monitoring and administration of our enterprise databases.

Reactive monitoring. The graphical representation of all the modules is very informative and useful at times of performance issues.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Enterprise Manager?**

Better documentation with examples to setup monitoring, what needs to monitor? etc

**What problems is Oracle Enterprise Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it as a go-to tool for Reactive monitoring when we get complains about performance.

  ### 49. OEM: Great System Admin tool, needs in-roads for developers

**Reviewed by:** Mika B. | Lead Application Admin, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2019

OEM continues to improve. Now at 13c, takes into account that companies are now running on-prem and cloud applications. All round great tool on features and Oracle technologies.

Oracle centric tool.
IT teams are hardly Oracle only shops. Would be great if I could monitor my SQLServer from the same tool as well.

You .may have to buy additional license for OEM based on what components of OEM you are using. It is resouce intensive and requires specialized professionals to install and manage OEM.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Enterprise Manager:**

Great tool for
