## About OmniGraffle
OmniGraffle is for creating precise, beautiful graphics. Like website wireframes, an electrical system design, a family tree, or mapping out software classes. For artists, designers, casual data-mappers, and everyone in-between.

## OmniGraffle Reviews
  ### 1. Short Lived

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Was able to go in there and create very simple charts.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

It seemed there was a lot of tools to use. But I just went in and did what I needed to finish up the few diagrams I needed. The amount of tools seemed a bit intimidating in learning so did not explore it's full capacity. This was several years back so it is possible the interface looks easier to navigate.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Different diagrams such as as workflows and staff charts.

  ### 2. One of my key tools!!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lissa A. | User Experience Architect, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I did the way it handles layers and how I can used one design as a shared layer is so helpful; also how importing stencils has been the best for me and my workflow designs.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

the lack of preset canvas sizes in the canvas preferences

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

if you can map the short cut keys to what you're used to to help with cutting down the learning curve if your switching from say indesign to omnigraffle

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

mainly working on solving for disruptive workflows or interfaces that were originally poorly designed in mobile as well as desktop

  ### 3. Great tool for mental maps and wireframing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle is built for wireframing, diagramming, and mapping in a no-frills way that ousts competitors like Visio or Balsamiq. It's clean and has all the features you need, but not too much. Auto-locking and flexibility to drag objects and have their connectors move with you makes it really easy to change and update existing maps.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

It's pretty lo-fi and not very robust for something like wireframing, so it's best to use this in conjunction with another tool like Sketch.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

We didn't continue using it because there was a fee, and would've loved to continue using it if there wasn't as much of a fee, or perhaps a freemium version.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Diagramming the business in an interactive, simple way. Flexibility to visualize our customer journey and map out different processes.

  ### 4. Clunky Mindmapping Software

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

The prebuilt segments were great and there were a lot of graphics to choose from.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Wifreframing items together was difficult and not intuitive at all. Was very difficult to get lines to connect to icons the way I wanted and they did not connect so anytime I moved an icon I had to redraw the connection.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

The software has a lot of great assets if you're willing to learn how it works. Not ideal for me, but I know people that love it.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, I currently am not using the software. In the past it was used to help wireframe website hierarchy.

  ### 5. Full featured but dated

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel L. | Lead UI Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Its been around for a long time, its flexible, and is good for wireframing

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

It feels like legacy software to me but maybe its because design is my first priority, not wireframing.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

If you're a designer, there are better options more catered to you. If you primarily work with wireframes and diagramming, this is the granddaddy of them all.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This has been good for non designers on my team in the past to communicate basic ideas about flow.

  ### 6. Great annotation tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deacon A. | UX Designer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle makes it really easy to build/import simple wireframes and annotate them for presentation.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

It's a bit clunky, and now most of what I need to do with it can be done in other programs.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're solving the simple annotation/wireframing tool problem within our company.

  ### 7. Easy tool to making programming chart and flow chart

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Haibo Y. | Senior Software Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

iOS template
iOS/Mac APP icon
Template system

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Layout and toolbox is not clear to use, not like Photoshop and Viso

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

It's a good tool can be used to design mobile mockups and icons. But to the flow chart and business logic charts, it's not as easy-to-use and powerful as other tools like LucidChart

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1.Design iOS mockups and APP icon
1.Draw simple business flow charts

  ### 8. Solid tool for charts and wireframing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank M. | Berater, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

The OmniGraffle is one of the best and most powerful tools by the Omni Group. It wonderfully helped me to draw graphics for my software development projects as well as for presentations. It contains everything I want and especially the simple snapping and alignment directly during the moving or resizing of the objects makes it easy to create aesthetic drawings.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Sometimes the UX is not very intuitive. But that's a result of the great amount of features. Additionally the retrieval and adding of additional stencils should better be integrated into the application.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Take your time to evaluate this application if you're looking for a tool to create diagrams and wireframes.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly in two use case. First to create architecture and design graphics for my work as a software developer, second for the diagrams inside my slides when I'm giving talks. But from time to time I'm also using it to plan changes at my home or garden. ;)

  ### 9. There is no better diagramming program for the Mac

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremiah C. | Assistant Producer, Gambling & Casinos, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle is a powerful, flexible diagramming program. I use it mostly to create flow charts, and with a little work you can use it to make beautiful charts. I especially like how easily you can create custom templates and collections of symbols. This makes it easy to create and share specific styles and elements for specific uses. The smart snapping and alignment tools set the standard years before Photoshop and the like added them. Finally, the iOS app is expensive but very powerful, nearly matching the feature set of the desktop app. You can sync diagrams between devices to easily work on them while on the go.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Some actions take a few too many clicks to accomplish. It can be fiddly making sure you're using the correct tool with the correct settings. The multi-panel inspector can also be tiresome to navigate.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Omnigraffle can be intimidating at first. I would recommend finding a quick tutorial, and then making something simple. An org chart or a simple process flow. move things around, change colors and shapes, try out the automatic layout tools, and so on. Once you've used it you should see how powerful it is, if you don't it's not the correct tool for your needs.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

High-quality diagrams are important in a number of cases. On the Mac, there is nothing that compares to Omnigraffle. Windows has Visio, but in my opinion, there's simply no comparison.

  ### 10. Great diagraming and wireframing tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

The ability to create stencils and the ease of creating precise wireframes.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Lack of prototyping or being able to export to another prototyping software. It would be nice to be able to set up HTML prototype files writhing Omnigraffle.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this program for wireframes and annotations.

  ### 11. Great for documentation and drawing flows.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pierre F. | Product Manager - Marketplace, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I like that it creates vector based drawings. I mainly use Omnigraffle to create flows. These being complex and large canvas you need to zoom in and out to see the whole thing so it cannot be done in a bitmap based tool like Axure.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle aged on many levels. Shortcuts are not consistent with the one commonly used by other Mac apps. Double clicked is used a lot. The overall UX could use some refactoring. It is very paper driven while I only use it now for digital documentations (we don't print anything where I work and these document are too large to be printable anyway).

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

I have been doing UX design for almost 10 years. At the beginning it was the only available tool alongside Visio. Being primary a Mac OS user Omnigraffle was my weapon of choice at the time. I was using it for Wireframing, Prototyping, Drawing flows and making documentation.
Over time better tools have been developped for wireframing and prototyping. But nothing ever did a better job at drawing flows and creating nice documents than Omnigraffle.

  ### 12. Perfect tool to make sketches

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matteo M. | Studente, Education Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I discovered OmniGraffle looking for a tool to create ER diagrams for table based database design. Once you try it, you could not do anything without. OmniGraffle is a powerful tool, full of options: you can make schemas but is a great software to create vector drawings. Grids, alignments, the countless ways to customize any object and any form (starting from the simplest, such as curved lines breaks) are incredible: you can work on grappling points, grouped into several layers and design patterns to use in future works as needed. Every object and drawings can be exported in several formats (also multiple sheets togheter) and is definitely a worthy rival of Sketch (another most voted tool for creativity). The nice thing OmniGraffle is its native integration with many standards (not only in IT, and software design such ER or UML, but also in fields such as architecture, or electronics). The presence of levels will certainly be appreciated by fans of Adobe Photoshop. If I have to carry a schema or a simple icon, this always goes through the use of OmniGraffle, one of the programs that I always keep in my DockBar, maybe combined with more advanced graphics editing software.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Sometimes the options are too many, with the result to be time-consuming nell'esporazione, and also the settings on the automatic resizing of the sheets are a little 'invasive and difficult to manage. The software, as his main hand, is a bit 'heavy, but I would not call it a real bad point, given the huge amount of options available. The formats are proprietary, but the software is well established and receives continuous updates so it does not scare me.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Great software for making diagrams and icons images.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OmniGraffle was a turning point for the creation of very well defined images to be inserted inside paper or other works. It is also very useful for creating simple workflow for projects of which the specifications have not yet been defined (similar to Balsamic, a more minimalistic software but still great for sketching up GUI).

  ### 13. Good until last year when it became obsolete because of Sketch.

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan M. | Lead UX Designer (Contract), Media Production, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Easy of use.
Smart inspector.
Smart guides and alignment.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Pro version is overpriced and Standard version is not good enough.

As a wire-framing tool is just too slow and after using it for years I moved to Sketch because is faster, provides more flexibility, they develop new features and improve the software more frequently and is more open to the community with lots of plugins that help you get things done they way you need it.

Also Sketch allows you to move from wireframes to design or prototypes seamlessly, playing nicely with lots of other apps (Marvel, Flinto, Framer, etc...). Omnigraffle as a prototyping tool is just not good enough.

It's a shame that for a tool that has been on the market for so long, Omnigraffle hasn't evolved as fast as the needs of the designers who use it (or used to use it :)

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Try Sketch before you buy Omnigraffle.

  ### 14. I've used Omnigraffle for about a year to support my UX design work

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zach G. | UX Designer, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle is one of the best tools around for creating process flows, screen flows, and any other logic or path based maps. One of my favorite features is the ability to import stencils that represent different mobile and desktop screens.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The interface can be a bit clunky at times; I feel like I have to do more clicking than necessary to access the features I want. I think there could be some improvements in this area that would make my workflow much faster.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Omnigraffle has the most features and capabilities of any diagramming application I've tried, and it does very well at this job. I've not used it for Wireframing, but I am skeptical about its capabilities in this area as it seems much more suited to diagramming.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use omnigraffle to create screen flows of mobile and desktop apps to aid in the UX design of a digital product. It has helped my team visually communicate the flow of an app to both clients and developers.

  ### 15. Organizing ideas and scenario for a novel

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fred A. | Chanteur, guitariste, producteur, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle allows me to organize ideas, concepts, and link them together, giving me a clear vision of my writing work to come.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The latest versions are a bit sophisticated for my personal use, I don't need so many features.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

If you need a very complete tool, this one is for you. But if you just need a mind mapping app, you may prefer simpler one, like Scapple for example.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Writing a novel, and organizing a lot of ideas in order to find a structure

  ### 16. A Robust, Carefully-Designed Diagramming Tool -- Not my first choice for wireframes/prototyping

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin T. | Product Designer & Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

My favorite app to create sturdy diagrams. I use this primarily to create user flow diagrams and information architecture diagrams. A lot of carefully-designed features to help you make diagrams that won't fall apart if you want to move something, or add/remove nodes, etc. For instance, line hops!!! Such an esoteric diagram-building problem that is solved so elegantly by this tool.

Downloadable stencils are a very valuable asset that can render this tool infinitely more useful -- if you know where to look to get good stencils.

The inspector/library panel is very powerful and has a full feature set, but somehow manages to NOT be ugly!

I find this tool (and the deliverables it creates) very easy on the eyes, which is not something I value above all other things, but it does help!

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

VERY limited ability to create prototypes from the wireframes you create in these tools. A clunky PDF prototype with hotspots = you can do better.

Honestly, for wireframes you're better off building in Axure because of the ability to quickly convert to HTML, add in quick interactions, and share via the AxShare platform. But this is definitely my #1 tool for any sort of diagrams.

Creating lines between diagram nodes can become clunky. While I love the ABILITY to change from a curved/bezier line to a sharp/angular line at the press of a button, sometimes the results are less than stellar and I don't always know the most direct way to fix it.

This problem is hardly unique to Omnigraffle, but navigating your page's contents via the little "Contents" panel is nightmarish... oftentimes it's just a hundred-items-long list of "Rectangle" "Rectangle" "Rectangle" "Circle" "Circle" "Group" "Text" which is virtually useless. I typically opt to just click on the objects on the page itself in order to select them.

Not a cheap program. Make sure it will do what you want it to before you purchase it!

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

> Use it for diagrams, certainly. It's GREAT for that.
> Before you pay for it, make sure it does what you want by downloading the trial.
> It's not the greatest wireframing tool, and its prototyping functionalities are sorely lacking.

  ### 17. Still the best diagraming software for OSX

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arran C. | Consultant, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle was one of the first 3rd party tools that really wowed me when I switched to OSX in 2008.

It has a clean interface, it's stable, easy to use, and has consistently improved on minor usability issues in each release.

It lets you create professional looking diagrams quickly and easily.

PDF export works really well.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Unfortunately there are areas where Omnigraffle has lost its way a bit, or never lived up to its potential.

SVG export is still pretty poor. If you expect the SVG output to be a carbon copy of your diagram you'll be disappointed. You'll definitely need to tweak your graffle document to fix minor glitches, line misalignment etc.

This usually means working with precise line lengths and placement, copying/pasting dimensions between objects. It'd be great if there was an option to disallow fractions of pixels and other units of measurement, as i'm fairly sure it'd reduce the amount of cleanup required to get clean SVG exports, and to prevent artifacts when resizing objects.

The other major issue with Omnigraffle is they followed (what I assume) the Apple UI guidelines, and merged the inspector into the right side of the viewing window. Apple products got the same treatment, and I have to say, it really messes with my workflow (even after a year of using apps with the new layout) it's definitely not an improvement. I guess we can mostly blame Apple for that though.

The final issue I have with Omnigraffle, is the lack of a good standard set of icons for network diagrams. The ones available from graffletopia (3rd party icon site) are mostly conversions from Viso, and are beginning to look really tired.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Visit graffletopia (or another 3rd party provider) to add additional icon sets, it really improves the usefulness of Omnigraffle.

  ### 18. A must have app for quality wireframing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shobhit S. | Creative Head, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Simplicity, Stencils, Export Functionality, Nice to user pre-defined templates

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

- I would like have something that UX Pin offers. A fully functional prototype.
- Cloud Sync and Share
- Easy integration of cloud tools such as box, dropbox etc.
-

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Putting stakeholders thoughts is a must and the ready made templates really help me doing so with ease.
However when it comes to sharing, it lacks what other offers.

  ### 19. Extremely flexible tool for fast wireframes and mockups. Good export options.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miklos P. | Principal User Experience Designer, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

There's a lot of flexibility provided in OmniGraffle. One can set up multiple canvases at various sizes. On those canvases you can have many, independent layers that you can turn on and off (for demonstrating "states" in UI design, printing, exporting to a PDF). One can order layers very easily as well as lock them on a canvas. OmniGraffle also has a "shared layer" feature (a canvas can have many) which allows one to set up common elements such as navigation headers, footer, sidebars, etc. which are shared between all the pages. An element edited on one of those shared layers will ripple through all canvases that use that shared layer.

One can also combine vector graphics—which is everything that you create in OmniGraffle itself—and import images that you can layer—send back of backwards—within a layer. Vector graphics can be dragged into OmniGraffle from Illustrator and just about any image type can also be placed on a canvas and manipulated (cropped, set transparency).

Then there are Stencils and Libraries of Stencils which are often used items that you can drag-and-drop onto a canvas. One can build their own frequently used Stencils (for a project for example) and share it between teams. Furthermore, one can even download stencil libraries (some free, some paid) that are painstakingly created templates from other creators that are commonly used elements in wireframing and mockups.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The stencils "inspector" or panel is poorly implemented in the latest Omingraffle (version 6). The "guides" implementation could use improvements as well (such as placing a precise guide at a location on a canvas by entering a pixel measurement X and Y manually).

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

OmniGraffle is a great, flexible tool for diagramming, blueprints, wireframing, mockups, and static prototyping. Easy to begin using and then getting deeper into it as one becomes more and more familiar with its capabilities. Its importing / exporting features make it an indispensable tool for sharing work between team members.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Excellent and flexible tool for wireframing and mockups in a UX design workflow. Easily share exported work with teammates via PDF, PNG, EPS, GIF, SVG, TIFF and Visio XML documents.

  ### 20. Good tool for quickly working through ideas.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriela R. | Senior System Engineer w/ Expertise in UI/UX Design, Financial Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I've been using it for a long time and can produce layouts pretty quickly. I like all the stencils and grids available. They make my life way easier. There's a lot of support out there for the product. Blog posts with tips and ideas are readily available via a Google search.

Presentation mode makes it a breeze to present your work to internally or externally and it's easy to create a professional looking document. You can also create clickable prototypes to show flows. They aren't flashy, but demonstrate workflows relatively well.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

If you don't set up a document properly, it is very tedious to use. You also have to be very organized with your assets within your document or it becomes difficult to keep track of everything. It requires a lot of pre-planning.

The interface is a little daunting at first and there is a pretty steep learning curve. I've seen a lot of designers get frustrated with the it .

It's not the most collaborative tool.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Get as many stencils and other assets as possible. They really enhance the product. Read up on short cuts and tips. You can easily find blog posts via a Google search. The designers at Viget usually have some good ones.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I design responsive web, native mobile and desktop applications, create sitemaps and user flows with this product. It's also very easy to create annotated wireframes. It's a good tool to use to nail down a basic layout and user flows before committing to any visual design decisions.

  ### 21. OmniGraffle is one of the best diagramming and visual-communication tools out there

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zachary J. | VP Engineering, Data & Platform, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Many people talk-up LucidCharts, but I have found that OmniGraffle producers cleaner and more presentation-worthy final products. There are a few other features about OG that cannot be beat:

— The ability to import outline files/lists, and have them be 'projected' as a tree of objects.
— Programmatic diagram creation. This is huge if you later want to re-edit what you've made programmatically.
— A community of stencil-designers, at https://www.graffletopia.com/
— Deep, deep, control of objects, at an Adobe-Illustrator-level

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

It does not have an online site/feature, besides the free OmniSyncServer: https://manage.sync.omnigroup.com/

I'd really like a docs integration; so that I don't have to deal with Lucid for certain teamwork.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Know whether active-collaboration on a doc is a deal-breaker, and be sure to pick the right tool. OmniGraffle is a swiss-army-knife, but still edge cases do exist.

I think if competitive products opened up their file formats for programmatic modification, then it would challenge OG more. Even then, the quality of product that comes from OG is really hard to beat, visually. It wows people.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rapid development of visual communication necessary to the proper coordination of efforts. Visual communication is a huge thing among people of so many different cultural backgrounds and with so many different learning styles. Also, visual memory is easier to stimulate in people.

  ### 22. UX/UI Designer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I like that the learning curve is relatively easy coming from Adobe Illustrator. Features like dragging and dropping files that link and update, robust inspector, ease of use are among the reasons I enjoy using it.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

I wish that the hot keys were not the exact opposite from Illustrator - they're so similar that I'm often hitting the wrong thing when switching back and forth. The page setup for dimensions is a little hard to get a hang of.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Studying some of the smaller hot keys and tricks, makes working in omnigraffle really great and plowing through projects. There are lots of great content and tips online. Creating stencils are also a great tool for productivity and scaling across projects with multiple people.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Usability is the main spoke of my job, so having the ability to make smart objects and arrange these repetitive elements to create a full user flow is great in Omnigraffle.

  ### 23. Fundamental too for flow chart creation from beginner to expert

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omni graph is super easy to use and almost there is no learning curb. I was introduced to Omnigraffle when I worked with interactive agency, SF. They are already using it and I had a need to learn how to generate wireframe. It was no brainer. I was able to learn by playing around. Easy Intuitive navigation over all.

Stensil is available for free online. prefabricated UI elements are useful and you can create your own sets and save.

I don't use it often but you can add action to the object like linking to file or open URL. I love this options.

Upgraded to Professional version. which has more advance features.

Snap and alignment feature is useful for professional looking layout.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

When I have text in the group, I can't globally scale grouped objects because text remains the font size.
When I need to design complicated graphic, I need to use illustrator.

Connecting line between shapes are one of the most powerful feature. it comes in so handy but magnet function becomes difficult to operate sometime.

It will be great to add interaction feature. It can be simple field button with jump to XX page so when I export to PDF, each page can have hot spot to link to another.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Omingraffle is an excellent tool for anybody who needs to create simple to complex chart.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it from concept sketch, flowchart to wire-framing for interactive projects.
Easy to export to PDF for review.

  ### 24. OmniGraffle is a Workhorse, Dependable and Durable

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas S. | Director of Experience Design insight, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

OmniGraffle has a very shallow learning curve. If you've used Visio, if you've used Adobe Illustrator ... even if you've only used PowerPoint, you can find your way around OmniGraffle in very little time. Click, drag, draw. Once you've established a few basic components, those can be recycled for other projects. The OmniGraffle community has been around for years, meaning the answers to common questions can be found with a quick Google search. Additionally, there are stencils and templates only a few clicks away.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The file structure is precarious. The format is a kind of compressed file, so sending a Graffle to another person can be tedious. Also, these files can grow and grow into an unmanageable size. You don't _need_ a powerful Mac to run OmniGraffle, but it certainly helps. Also, OmniGraffle is a wireframe resource, but not a prototyping tool. This is for 2-D, flat representation of ideas only.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been using OmniGraffle for about five or six years now. I can create a wireframe as quickly with this application as I can with a paper and Sharpie.

  ### 25. Omnigraffle Professional v6.5.2

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David L. | Managing Partner, Director of Strategy, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle is still hands down the best tool for wireframing. While many IAs and UX professionals have been using Sketch, that's not the right tool for the job. Sketch is for prototypes—not wireframes. Here's what makes it superior:

1. LIBRARIES: You can save templates and UX elements you create to reuse (in your style) that are a simple drag and drop away. I don't know about you, but I hate recreating things like Contact forms, maps, social icons, etc. Having a vast library of your own work (and the work of others via the Graffletopia community) is a huge timesaver.

2. VARIABLES: The bottom of my wireframes, flows and sitemaps all include a copy block of the project title, canvas name, modification date, page number, etc. I type none of this. It;s auto-inserted and auto-updated by the software.

3. SHAPE MODIFICATIONS like Adobe Illustrator's Pathfinder tool. Sometime you really need the right shape of comment bubble or notched-arrow navigation state. Make as many as you want. Save them as custom shapes and they become part of the system for use whenever you need them.

4. SHARED LAYERS. Love these. Put your navigation on a shared layer and it will appear on all your new canvases within that document. I usually add an additional layer ABOVE the shared layer as an active state.

5. PRESENTATION MODE. Don't have an InVision account? Shame on you! But if you can't afford one, relax. You can make your wireframes clickable like a real website and in presentation mode, you can run through the site, full screen and each element you hover over will automatically highlight itself. In a pinch, I've done this many times and clients respond well to it. I use a thick bright outline that reminds them of the hover states they see in a certain usability testing tool we all know and love.

6. SELLING I.A.: Let's face it. Wireframes from tools like Balsamic look like a child did them. I know that's kind of the point, to keep the IA from looking too designed, but try explaining that to a client who is new to wireframes. You will have a migraine from explaining to them for the 18th time that no, the site won't look like this, and yes, the lines will be straight in dev. Omnigraffle wireframes just look better and they sell themselves to clients.

7. EXPORTING. Yes, if you are forced to export to Visio, or (shudder) open a Visio file, you can. I;ve done it many times and the scars have finally healed. You can export to PDF, BMP, EPS, PNG, HTML, JPG, PSD, SVG, TIFF, Visio XML, all three Omnigraffle doc types and OmniOutline.

8. GANTT CHARTS: Why would anyone use Omnigraffle to make a timeline when Office does this perfectly well? Simple. Ever look at a MS Project doc? Hideous and impossible to read when projected on a screen. I've recreated Gantt charts in OGP with beautiful colors, easier to read typeface choices and better spacing and guess what? Won more business, Not to get off on a soapbox, but don't make your audience strain to read something on the screen. If you start your slide with, "I know this is an eyesore but…" you've failed. Really. Omnigraffle solved that for me.

9. DRAG AND DROP INTO OTHER APPS: I regularly drag selections of charts, images and sitemaps, etc. directly from Omnigraffle and drop them into Keynote and Powerpoint slides. No problems. They scale beautifully and don't experience color shifts that sometimes occur with other apps.

10. INFOGRAPHICS. Sure, Canva.com is cool, but it can't REALLY create true infographics (yet). OGP can and they can look every bit as good as if they were done in Adobe Illustrator or Sketch.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

There's little to dislike about Omnigraffle to be honest. Everything just works. My only complaints are these:

1. ACTIVE AND HOVER STATES: If we can have shared layers, we should be able to set active and hover states to objects and navigation.

2. DOCUMENT STYLES: While I can save and have access to thousands of pre-built page and app elements, it would be nice to set up document styles (colors, typefaces, logos) that are used throughout a document without assigning them manually to each element (or resorting to the paintbrush tool). Admittedly, this is a rare use case for me and probably others, but it has come up where I was given wireframe requirements (links must be this color, lines must be #ccc, all text in Helvetica Neue, etc.)

I have heard some folks in the industry complain that OGP doesn't export to HTML (not true, it does) and that the tools they use go straight to production files. They must work in tiny shops that only work in straight HTML. The agencies I have worked for and in my current company, the code is a combination of several coding languages and scripts that would render the basic HTML a prototyping tool creates useless. I feel this is a silly argument unless you only build in straight HTML, with no jQuery, no database involvement, no javascript, etc.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Think about your needs as an IA or UX professional before investing in any tool. If you primarily do prototyping, try Sketch. If you do more icon or illustrative work, Adobe Illustrator is your best friend. If, like me, you do both to those, but MOSTLY do wireframes, sitemaps, user flows and are required to sell them to the client in person, you should strongly consider Omnigraffle Professional (not the regular version which is missing a few critical features you'll want).

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Information Architecture, User Experience, Infographics, Business Presentations. These are all areas I have successfully used Omnigraffle Pro for and will continue to use it for.

  ### 26. An App Full of Promises - Mostly Kept

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon W. | Creative Director, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle has been around a very long time as far as software goes. It's stable, usable, powerful, and backed by a stable company who won't disappear any time soon. It's like the swiss-army-knife of UX tools. It has a HUGE user-base, and lots of templates and stencils (both paid and free) available.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Because it's like a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none, Omnigraffle doesn't really excel at any of its given feature sets. "Oh cool - an auto-reflow feature!" you think "Oh - that didn't reflow at all how I expected it to."

I used to use Omnigraffle for all my wireframes, but large projects became cumbersome, unwieldy and difficult to maintain. The lack of cloneable smart objects/screens (and difficulty of work-arounds) eventually put me off.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

While Omnigraffle is a great tool to have in your toolbox, I'm finding using Keynote, Sketch, Balsamiq, InVision, and even Foundation/HTML etc. to be a much more efficient, and effective workflow. I'm also very interested in UXPin, and Adobe just released Experience Designer (project Comet). I think Omnigraffle is old-world, and the future will be in tools that allow you to be responsive, and get into code/UI more quickly.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a UX designer, I was using Omnigraffle to generate flow charts, and wireframes. Omnigraffle, coupled with vital templates and stencils, (I like Konigi - without them, wireframing would suck) can be a powerful flow, and static wireframe design tool. I put together static, annotated wireframes that showed flow from 1 screen to the next, how users interacted with the views, included call-outs for hidden functionality etc. Clients loved it when I presented them with PDF exports of my Omnigraffle file.

However, over time, I've become a believer in living documents, and interactive wireframes/prototypes, and so have largely left Omnigraffle unused for a few years.

  ### 27. Simply the best diagramming software for the Mac.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ‭Jeff ‮ E. | Partner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Look, I'll just lay it out there: I've been using OmniGraffle for almost a decade, and it's an essential part of my work. Whether I'm laying out a house, whipping up a quick iOS wireframe, or diagramming complex workflows for a client, it's always nailed it.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The only downside is Omnigraffle's lack of support for iCloud sync between the MacOS and iOS versions of the software. It supports syncing, but only using a proprietary-but-free "OmniSync" service. It hasn't been a huge hassle, but it's the real frustration.

Long term, it'd be great if it supported some of Visio's more complex features, like controlling shape properties based on metadata tags (mark a shape as 'optional' and it greys out, for example, rather than manually tweaking every shape's color schemes explicitly). Here's hoping.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a software consultant and content strategist who builds complex content and data models, diagrams business workflows for clients' workforces, builds simple mockups of web and app designs when working with developers and UX teams, and so on. OmniGraffle has never let me down.

  ### 28. I use Omnigraffle daily as a UX Designer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben B. | Senior Principal User Experience Designer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I create mockups of changes to web applications as a part of the development process in my company. Sometimes these are entirely new features, but usually they are changes to existing user interfaces.

My typical work flow to grab a screenshot from our application. I place the screenshot on a background layer, then block out sections using the rectangle tool. I lock the background layers, then draw new UI elements on top of the background to illustrate the change I'd like to see in the application. The ability to share layers between canvases makes the work more efficient, I can combine multiple screenshots and grouped OmniGraffle elements to create a complete user flow through a feature.

The Stencil extensions are helpful. I downloaded a stencil of the Font-Awesome icons which make it easy for me to use them in the mockups. I have also made my own OmniGraffle 'Stencils' where I keep commonly used elements for reuse.

I like that you can include a linked photoshop file as an element in Omnigraffle, so I can do additional work on the screenshot background in Photoshop and see the changes applied to my mockup in Omnigraffle.

The exports are great. I often select a few of elements and export if I just need a detail from design. I might also you can export one canvas as a PNG to include in a spec, or the entire document as a multi page PDF that I send out for review.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The typography is a bit weak, and that has come up as a limit.

It is great that you can edit vector shapes, but it is often difficult to select the points, which can be frustrating if you are used to Illustrator or Sketch.

  ### 29. Go-to software for IA and site-map style deliverables

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim M. | User Experience Designer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle is great for creating simple wireframes quickly and easily. The library and third-party support is excellent and varied as you would expect from a well established application such as this. It's a well polished piece of software with great ux design in itself. Many of the editing tools and controls have been well thought through.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

I tend not to use Omnigraffle so much anymore but I think this is more a reflection of how ux design is going these days. Typically I move straight from pen and paper sketching to prototype creation and as such there's no need for Omnigraffle I'm afraid. On larger projects when we need to specify wireframes however, it's still the go-to tool of choice. I find the site mapping aspect of the product painful to use. The auto layout tools never seem to be any use to me and the sorts of documents I'm creating. I assume someone is finding them useful but they always seem to mess up any layouts I've tried to create.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

If you're creating a lot of static wireframes then Omnigraffle is likely to be your top choice.

  ### 30. Powerful tool, steep learning curve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick K. | UI & UX Designer, Financial Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Tons of downloadable stencil packs, robust community of users, high degree of customization, easy & quick alignment tools, ability to create user journey & sitemap documents. Extremely scalable; user can create high-level information architecture documents and low-fidelity wireframes, but enough font, color & style options to bring wireframes up to medium/high fidelity so that they're presentation-ready without needing to export to Sketch/Adobe.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Steep learning curve for first-time users; complex UI that's easy to get lost in, lack of ability to create symbols - user must copy and paste which makes it impossible to automatically update global elements on every canvas at once. Lack of out-of-the-box standardized screen sizes for specific devices.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Completely depends on the needs of the user. If the person considering Omni needs a catch-all tool for all UI needs, I'd recommend it wholeheartedly, but if their focus is on rapid lo-fi prototyping that's just one step above paper, I'd recommend Balsamiq Mockups for its ability to create symbols and the simplicity of its UI.

  ### 31. An indispensable graphic design tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin R. | Managing Director, Management Consulting, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2015

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Lots of functions for drawing and designing all kinds of images, diagrams, charts, and so on. I do a lot of drawings to illustrate concepts in my work as a consultant -- Omnigraffle makes me look good with less effort than I have a right to expect.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle is becoming increasingly complex -- which is making it harder to use. I fear it is beginning to become a bit bloated.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Prepare for a bit of a learning curve -- the product has become increasingly complex so it isn't always as intuitive as it might be.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We do all kinds of illustrations, charts, graphs, diagrams and so on in our consulting work. We need to look good and we need to get it done fast. Omnigraffle has tools to modify the look and layout of an image so that we can really convey the message we want. We particularly like the flexible "magnets" that let you attach lines and arrows (think: flow charts) to shapes. Then, if we need to move things around, the arrows "stick" and don't get lost.

  ### 32. Multiplatform!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kosta B. | UX / Graphic Designer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

iOS support! My life got easier when you guys introduced the iOS version back in 2015. I was literally creating wireframes while being late for work!

Also, if I may add, speed! OmniGraffle allowed me to present my fixes and ideas in matter of minutes! For example, talking with clients on Skype, discussing potential improvements to the app, wondering if one button on different place will change anything - turned on the app, quickly incorporated my ideas and solutions... Problem solved! The page was sent to designers in 10 minutes.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

I recently had to switch back to Windows platform, and I'm really sad that I have to chose alternatives that are not as good.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Just try it, you will fall in love with it. It's that simple.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bad UX! I can show my clients my ideas with ease, something sketching wouldn't do.

  ### 33. I use it almost daily

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aimee K. | User experience designer - new devices group, Semiconductors, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

When it works, it's really efficient for creating UX documentation.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

I'd like if there were standard document sizes and Omnigraffle made their own stencils to go with their standard document sizes. All UX people I know want a way to produce standard-sized PDFs of UX documentation like user profiles, wireframes, whatever and it just WORKS.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

You'll need to take the initiative as far as creating stencils tailored for your own use. Even really good stencils are often sized strangely so you have to resize all assets for use on standard-sized pages.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create a variety of types of documentation for businesses. They need to be shared across disciplines so that people 'get' what the vision of a design project is and why it's a good direction. Omnigraffle (with some tinkering) helps me to create multi-page documents quickly.

  ### 34. A useful tool for documenting your wireframes

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Federico P. | UX Director, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle is a fantastic tool for wireframing and documentation.
I use it extensively to create detailed specifications for softwares, mobile app, web apps and to deliver UI spec to developers.

It is a really flexible tool that permit you to organize content with easy and to save stancils (collection of symbols you regularly use).

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

It is sometimes a little bit complex, but I'm not using the latest version.
Not so easy to create interactive prototypes.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Evaluate if your needs are satisfied by the features and set the expectations accordingly

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to document and inform stakeholders about decisions and need to provide UI specs to developers. I need to organize Information Architectures and document it.
Omnigraffle it is perfect for creating these kind of document in the way that better match your needs and style.

  ### 35. Really low level of control

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle is somewhat like Visio for Macs, its super simple to use but very difficult to use well. The things that are cool is that its easy to learn and has cool force alignment tools which make it easy to do things like change the orientation of a site map from vertical to horizontal super fast.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The snapping effects are awful, its really hard to control where things are going and basic things, like an arrow pointing to a box, are unncessarily hard because of this snap effect.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

If you're more comfortable with Illustrator, Indesign or Sketch as a wireframing tool there isn't a ton of benefit in using Omnigraffle unless your company requires it as a standard.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Site maps and flow diagrams, wireframes for website and app.

  ### 36. UX/UI Omnigraffle user

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew V. | UX/UI Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

The canvas size allows me to adjust to any size I need so I can place as many screen inside I want

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The fact that is hard to import different formats into it, also when it allows me to import a different format it takes awhile to ungroup the image to work on it. It should give the user a little more freedom and also stop charging for every stencil out there. I love omnigraffle is my standard tool to do my wires but it's gotta be more friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

FREEDOM start testing other tools out there and become THE TOOL and not another option

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lots of predesign things I can just grab and add to my wires,

  ### 37. Great all around tool for quick mock-ups and diagrams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Meg D. | Self Employed, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle provides a number of templates and tools to make it easy to quickly put together a nice looking diagram or mock-up. I use it frequently in creating diagrams and graphics for presentations as well as wire framing applications.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle does not come pre-packaged with templates designed for mocking up websites or apps. Instead you have to purchase community created templates. Many of these templates are inexpensive or free, so the extra cost isn't too prohibitive. However, since they are community created there is no guarantee that they will continue to work through omnigraffle upgrades and changes.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use omnigraffle to create site flow diagrams, information architecture diagrams, user flow diagrams, and mock-ups.

  ### 38. Omnigraffle has been an extremely versatile and dependable tool for my UX design work.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I think the speed and performance of the program is the best thing about it. I can quickly and intuitively throw designs together and not worrying about the app slowing down over time, which PS or Sketch tend to do. Templates and stencil customization is also great, especially when it comes to building flowcharts.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The learning curve and placement of functions in the app takes some getting used to and may not be as intuitive or pretty as it could be.

Setting up files for print, resolution-wise is also a pain. I wish you could scale the DPI or dimensions easier.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Omnigraffle for wireframing complex web interfaces, putting together sitemaps, and creating user flows to show proposed interactions before going into design. I actually found out that the program's files are much easier for a junior level designer or account person to make small edits to, thanks to the program not relying on nested layers or hidden menus.

  ### 39. One of the main reasons I use a Mac is Omnigraffle

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicklas d. | Product Designer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I've used Omnigraffle for over a decade (I think), and second to using paper and a sharpie it's the quickest way to draw up some quick concepts, show some prototypes of interfaces or draw some flowcharts or diagrams. In addition, it's great for planning room or office layouts

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The only gripe I have is that I keep forgetting that some of the keyboard shortcuts aren't the ones I'd be expecting. Zooming in and out, for instance doesn't work with my muscle memory shortcuts. (I should probably change this, there's great applescript support so I could probably whip something up)

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Stencils are great, and creating your own sets of styles and components for re-use is worthwhile.

  ### 40. My go-to tool for diagrams, flow charts, Garrett IA, wireframes

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas G. | Principal, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Object oriented flowcharts mean things have actual logic relationships; entity charts can be grown, moved about, and extended. I use Omnigraffle for all kinds of quick diagrams, including flow charts, narrative flows, IAs, and quick wireframes, although increasingly Sketch is a better tool for software wireframing.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The help system is not useful and it has a longer learning curve than you'd expect. Some actions—like splitting a line—still aren't available, and interactions between objects (extending a line pulls objects in unexpected ways) take getting used to.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Take the time to go through training with it; it's power unlocks with your experience. Consider Sketch for more visual diagrams, but Omnigraffle for object-focused ones.

  ### 41. Interactive Developer, Front end, UX/UI developer

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Pretty short learning curve and nice community built templates can help get a deck together very quickly. Finished products are very professional and ready for delivery.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

In my process, I have all but eliminated delivering static documents. In my experience it is not a great use of client money and decks usually get put "on the shelf" to never be looked at again. I primarily build prototypes now to convey experience and behavior, but I am also a developer (code focused).

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

I have not used it in a little while — if its moving in the direction of being more software oriented and can build, moving, workable prototypes I would consider the product far more valuable. I would also recommend it for data modeling and building flow diagrams but would steer people away from creating static wireframes and huge decks (not omnigraffles fault — just an industry observation).

  ### 42. Powerful & easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alyssa A. | End of Life Doula & Grief Guide, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I love that I can use this tool for many different stages of my process. It's easy to use and robust. I can do basic flows or much more detailed wires.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

So far I've had a great experience using the tool, not too much I'd change. I haven't tried anything that compares at this point.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can use this tool throughout many stages of my process. It's easy to train colleagues on and easy to share my work with others. It's robust without being over complicated and the learning curve is a short one. I'd definitely recommend this tool to other UX and graphic designers.

  ### 43. Great tool for low and high fidelity mocks

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I like Omnigraffle, it's a good tool made for digital designers. I think it's useful how they have set up an online library that you can work with and download great looking pre-defined components for your design.

It's also useful to edit lots of art boards all at once.

I think one good advantage it has over Sketch is the layer management is WAY better, and doesn't confuse me.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

I dislike the face that when i use the program it feels loose. Like I don't have that much control over it. Everything feels just a little light handed, unlike illustrator. I also don't like that everything is single page. It's hard to create great flows.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

I think it's a great tool if you're looking for a low-barrier and quick learning software to use for your low and high fidelity mockups.

  ### 44. Omnigraffle is pretty good

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle shines when putting together site maps or flow charts. There are a lot of great resources for templates and stencils that can help speed up your workflow.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Export, especially to PDF, feature could be improved. Also, I haven't found Omnigraffle to be as widely integrated, as other programs like Sketch or Photoshop. There are a lot of great integration for prototyping, spec-ing, etc. available for Sketch & Photoshop.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working in building digital experiences, Omnigraffle was great for presenting concepts, use cases, flows, & especially wireframing. Visuals are invaluable when in the planning phase of a project.

  ### 45. Not the easiest tool to use, but has great capabilities.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Business Supplies and Equipment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle has a lot of capabilities and features that are valuable when it comes to building wireframes and prototypes in the User Experience design/architecture/research fields.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The tool has a major learning curve in my opinion. It often feels like there are more user-friendly tools with the same capabilities (if not more) that require less learn-time.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Take a nod from more recently released tools like Sketch where the drag and drop feature rules and libraries of pre-made high-fi widgets make the experience so much better.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Typically I am using Omnigraffle for wireframming, but the tool also has great diagramming uses for workflows and userflows.

  ### 46. Versatile Wireframing Tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth G. | User Experience Designer, Financial Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

I like how the Inspectors give an easy way to manipulate shapes, line, text and canvas size. I also like the wide variety of Stencils available.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

I really dislike Omnigraffle 6. I think the changes made for that release decreased usability significantly. I still use Omnigraffle 5 for most things.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Get to know the Inspectors. Everything is there.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Omnigraffle for wireframes and user flows. Shortcuts, shared layers and variables make it efficient to create templates and repeating elements.

  ### 47. The easiest wire framing tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan K. | UX Design & Strategy Consultant, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Ease of use and simplified ways to layer and make changes. It's great for all levels of design skill.

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

The ability to not have true interactive prototypes hurts a bit, but can be sufficed by using PNG files into other programs.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

The documentation and tutorials are limiting, better off trying to seek answers on blogs and youtube videos.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To make easier to use websites and applications. Omnigraffle certainly does help.

  ### 48. Good for wireframing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sasha T. | Founder, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Omnigraffle is working really fast and it's really easy to use. Best for fast sketches, graphs and for showing connections between any object (screens of an app for example).

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

It is not easy to set document size. No pixels. Only pt and who knows how many pixels will be in output.

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Omnigraffle for wireframing of mobile apps and websites. Or any other screen interface.

  ### 49. Used to deliver production-ready documentation and wireframes

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniGraffle?**

Stencils, low learning curve, export to well known formats

**What do you dislike about OmniGraffle?**

Not much movement lately on resources created by the community, lack of complex prototyping features like dynamic panels or animations

**Recommendations to others considering OmniGraffle:**

Good to get started but falls short after some time

**What problems is OmniGraffle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

wireframes for mobile apps, web apps and websites

  ### 50. Fantastic! with room for improvement
