Geomedia gives me the best options to customise my analysis and even my sql queries. Also saveable queries and detailed visualization options are giving me the power to create great looking maps. Going through many steps just for adding data to workspace is not good. What problems is Octave GeoMedia solving and how is that benefiting you? Mainly using for data analysis and visualization. Queries are the best tools in Geomedia. Comparing with other GIS tools, Geomedia has the best options for data analysis. It is clearly for the engineers but this may also br a negative point for data operators. Raster and vector data analysis. It facilitates site location analysis. It also provides GeoMedia Advantage also provides the ability to generate contours, shaded relief and color coded elevations. It is easy to make thematic maps. The tool of smart snap is very useful. While trying to digitize features, smart snapping makes it easier to visualize the objects and connect your vertices during edits. With the snapping tool it is possible to snap the objects by intersection, element, tangent, midpoint, vertex, origin, end point. In addition to that, the labeling is a very important feature for planners and people who use maps and also this process takes so much time. But it is very easy to do this in GeoMedia because they never tend to end up in the right position or size proportionally. In order to solve this problem, GeoMedia developed a tool to label elements on a map with ease and in an intuitive way. What do you dislike about Octave GeoMedia? render engine quick select tool (selection on multiple ovarlapping objects) there should be a query tool working with sql for database tables. Geomedia does offer any parameter (especially on cad conversion: coordinate system, layers, data filtering etc) you may need to use, however it is hard to use. Geomedia is a nice toolset for understanding data, populating data and analyzing data. Very important option of GeoMedia is that for me: GeoMedia open the CAD file and program categorize the data via using GeoMedia CAD Server Schema File easily. This process is very useful for my job. What do you dislike about Octave GeoMedia? a few Menus, icons and shortcuts, a few functions for databases and calculation of certain values (incl. certain measurements: When I was using the software then I was facing certain problems especially switching from one functionality to another one or jumping from the graphical interface where I was working with the map jumping too the geodatabase or the jumping from the Geo database to the graphical interface. Recommendations to others considering Octave GeoMedia: I really recommend to other users to do online tutorials or courses/ training: I recommend to other users that few online tutorials or courses for training by skills power users or other professionals who have a lot of experience with geographical information systems, those courses really help too get into the software and discovered the broad functionality. In the utilities company we were digitising the network for water supply and the energie supply network. The area of interest was around a distance of 40 kilometers multiplied by 100 kilometers North South orientation. Besides we had a few databases that were integrated with other software like SAP and other geodatabases that were connected with Geomedia. Analytical functions and Functional attributes of Geomedia and the way how Geomedia operate with data. There is no easy way for something which will be between scripting and plugin development (functional attributes do quite good job but it doesn't help sometimes). It is sometime unbelievably slow and it crash more then it is acceptable. Hexagon does not invest money in development of most advance softer in GIS world, it look like that development is stooped on middle of process. They sale some add-on/plugin with functionalities which exist today as basic function in all other GIS softer for ex. print to pdf. "geographic information systems" 5/5 What do you like best about Octave GeoMedia? User friendly interface, easily analyzed by map, effective thematics map. Quick and easy to use interface and fast customer support. s excellent for data collection and editing, processing and analyzing elevation and terrain data including LiDAR.
