Is not very complicated to be used, there are tons of free learning resources on the Oracle platform and they have also a nice free tier for beginners, and especially you can have for life, 1 Linux VM machine for free within certain limits. You can use a wide variety of interconnected services and perform some additional steps. I like the simplification of the monitoring of the infrastructure, as part of observability. It is a nice feature for new users to have some money to trial and test the features, and even if you pass the credit limits, they will not bill you straight away. **What do you dislike about OCI?** I wished they have a better and modern UI for the new cloud beginners and have a more simplified cloud portfolio and better integrations with third parties tools. In cooperation with other cloud providers, the product catalog is not so big enough to cover all aspects, and for a new cloud beginner it might take some time until **Recommendations to others considering OCI:** OCI is a very good cloud solution alternative, for whoever wants to try out another cloud approach. Even if you are a beginner in cloud technologies, OCI will not bill you without offering explicit consent that you want to continue to use additional resources, otherwise, you can have 1 free Linux machine VM for free for life, within some limits, of course, but for the personal use case, it is more than perfect honestly. **What problems is OCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** Usually, the problems which I am resolving with OCI are related to app migration from an on-prem to cloud infrastructure and implementing observability across the infrastructure. The benefits I am realizing by using the OCI, are related to cost-efficient and infrastructure scalability. The OCI I used for the personal and private project inside the organization to assess this cloud provider's value and how could fit into my current skills and projects. ### 5. A perfect fit for all your organization needs. **What do you dislike about OCI?** OCI should look to focus more on the companies that require very simple and low end solution.These companies might not be in need to use the high end OCI services.Instead they are looking for low end and quick to use services that just fit their small needs **What problems is OCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** Moving the on-premises workloads to the cloud was the main problem I was looking for. Now after considering OCI, we are getting many benefits in terms of cost ,scalability and performance ### 6. A variety of services which can provide a complete solution. SLA's provided are best suited for enterprise customers. best performance and lowest cost. many new festures get added to the cloud platform every month. You get error free running on OCI from your company applications. Do a PoC and check yourself. It will definitely surprise you. There is no ingress cost like other vendors and simple to use. Egress cost os also very low. Oracle takes care of your backups and performance is best managed by your machine learning capabilities fo the database. Self repairing, self managing and self tuning database which does not have a competition as of today. All this running on a engineered system. **What do you dislike about OCI?** A. few services at the lauch have a few bugs which need to be thoroughly tested before general availability. like Golden Gate. Autonomous DB has maintaniance windows every weekend and mostly lead to connection break and process stop during patching. **Recommendations to others considering OCI:** best performance and lowest cost. many new festures get added to the cloud platform every month. You get error free running on OCI from your company applications. Do a PoC and check yourself. It will definitely surprise you. There is no ingress cost like other vendors and simple to use. Egress cost os also very low. **What problems is OCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** Lift and shift from on premise is very easy and extremely quick to realise the value. Performance is much better than on-premise. Building new apps is easy using Oracle kubernetes engine. Autonomous database takes away headache of managing the database yourself. This is a very big advantage if you do not have a IT person in-house. Oracle takes care of your backups and performance is best managed by your machine learning capabilities fo the database. They may pronounce it as 'Docker' or some other way, but you and I will know that it's OCI. **What do you dislike about OCI?** It really is best-in-class, and that comes from attracting so much mindshare that it now has the best surrounding tooling. My dislikes about it are only in comparison to not using containers at all. Maybe it adds complications when you want to connect between in-container programs and programs that run on the host. Maybe you want to edit some file that lives inside the container. All these things are made slightly more fiddly. **What problems is OCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** OCI's specs for the image and runtime helped break containerization out of the Docker/Moby garden and into many more devops places where it's making good impact. ### 8. After that I got an opportunity to look into OCI services and they are at par with other providers. Oracle services like the SQL ones are long lasting, I do believe this service will make a mark as well. **What do you dislike about OCI?** As it's a competitively newer service provider, the costs seem on a higher range. However, if they rectify the costs of the services, I see there are many who want to opt for OCI services. **What problems is OCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have deployed websites and worked on different compute services on OCI. It's a smart choice as it provides similar security to the content hosted as other providers who have been in the industry for atleast 2 decades. ### 9. Like OCI Security Zone, which creates another additional envalop within customer tenancy. Also, few security services come without any additional charges. **What do you dislike about OCI?** Navigation within the UI/Console is sometimes tricky as it is not straightforward. When it comes to multi-tier architecture, that sometimes challenging to build in OCI compare to AWS or Azure. **Recommendations to others considering OCI:** Compare the price with all other vendors before deciding any. It varies with business case and requirement **What problems is OCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are migrating on-premise infrastructure to the cloud. The benefit of migrating the infrastructure to OCI has many advantages. Like, in on-premise, we have to provide an upfront charge for the servers and hardware even we don't use them, and those are not scalable much as well, but in OCI, we have flexibility in payment, and there is no limit on scaling. ### 10. OCI provides various types of interfaces which help in achieving the seamless shopping experience - e.g. Product validation, Cart total calculation. These are some of the most commonly used interfaces. Also OCI provides options like SOAP, REST interfaces which help in building Modern Micro-Frontend-based UI/UX applications. The JSON data exchange supported over HTTP interface can be used for creating SPA applications that can support Web as well Mobile or any other latest gadgets like tabs/iPad etc. Most of the B2B applications are SAP implementation. And OCI helps to bridge the gap between B2B and B2C experience. **What do you dislike about OCI?** One of the drawbacks I found regarding OCI is in case you want to go with SOAP over HTTP interface, it may require a lot of effort to build the integration layer. Also, this interface is heavyweight than other interfaces (JSON over HTTP), which may impact the application performance. **What problems is OCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was working on providing a B2C experience of shopping to B2B users. The training on OCI is really very good which helps you up to pick up working on any of the services offered in OCI. Offers a wide range of services and cost aspect is rather simpler compared to other cloud services. **What do you dislike about OCI?** Less number of services compared to other cloud services. Also inbuilt connectors are lesser in number. **Recommendations to others considering OCI:** OCI offers many wide range of services but lesser compared to AWS or Azure. But has a very simpler pricing model in terms of outbound traffic etc. Constantly offering more cloud regions. And also offers few distinct features like in Compute it provides Bare metal compute resources. Overall highly recommend it. **What problems is OCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were using OCI to host an ERP application that was natively built on oracle. No issues faced connecting to this application from other cloud platforms. Initially faced latency issues which were resolved eventually. ### 13. Should add more managed services. LB lags lot of functionalities **Recommendations to others considering OCI:** Highly recommended to use oracle databases and ERP systems on oracle. Also if the volume of data is huge the affordable cloud is OCI **What problems is OCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** Migrating some of the legacy applications to OCI helped in terms of both capex and opex. It helped a lot in autoscaling the infra, templates are really useful. Some of the apps are running on containers and we are optimizing them further. ### 15.
