I like NX CAM for its coverage of CNC machines and tools. It integrates many types of CNC machines and tools, so I don't have to worry if I buy a new machine.

**What do you dislike about NX CAM?**

I find the steep learning curve for junior engineers a bit challenging. There were also some troubles setting up the licensing, with version differences causing errors.

**What problems is NX CAM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use NX CAM to fully automate CNC machining with optimized toolpath and minimal cost, covering various CNC machines and tools so I don’t worry about new equipment.

NX has the capability for CAD, CAE and CAM. A single solution for all aspects of the engineering product lifecycle greatly improves our operational efficiency. This is particularly the case when integrated with Teamcenter. It is more than CAM - it is part of a complete engineering ecosystem

**What do you dislike about NX CAM?**

Some infrastructure tools - like tool libraries and post processors could be easier to setup. It would be great if our CAM engineers could do this themselves without technical support.

NX CAM underpins our entire mechanical manufacturing capabilty.

I appreciate the user-friendly interface of NX CAM, which facilitates technical support for users. The ease and agility in complex machining are strong points worth highlighting. Additionally, I value operations like 3D Adaptive Roughing, Quick Roughing, and Fixed Axis Guiding Curves. The initial setup of the software is very simple, which impresses me positively.

Creation of profile tools for high feed, there are some manufacturers that the software still does not support.

With a tendency towards confusion and long loading times

Unfortunately, it is only conditionally usable for standard processing in series production, as it can hardly deliver the best processing times without many clicks. However, it is very good for special processing, for example, for channel processing.

It is integrated with CAD model. It allows Product machine simulations. You can determine collision with tooling and machine tools.

It lacks same functionality like Vericut. It needs to more it robust like MasterCAM for post processor

It helps with g geometry and simulate with post processor. It saves so much money when the part is failed due to wrong cutting.

**What do you like best about NX CAM?**

The best thing about NX CAM is its accuracy and flexibility in handling complex machining tasks. The toolpath quality is extremely reliable, especially for 5-axis and high-precision parts. I also like how smoothly the CAM integrates with the CAD environment, which reduces errors and saves a lot of time during programming. Features like feature-based machining, customizable templates, and realistic simulation make the workflow faster and more consistent. Once everything is set up, it significantly improves productivity.

**What do you dislike about NX CAM?**

The main downside of NX CAM is the steep learning curve. New users need time and proper training to understand the workflow and advanced machining strategies. It also requires a powerful computer to run smoothly, especially when working with complex assemblies. The licensing cost can be high for small shops or individual users. Additionally, customizing post-processors sometimes needs expert support, which isn’t always straightforward.

NX CAM helps me handle complex machining tasks with high precision and consistency. It solves the problem of manually creating toolpaths and reduces the chances of errors during programming. The Wave Link geometry is helpful. When a design changes, it’s pretty simple to update the toolpaths, which saves time and keeps everything consistent. The simulation package is also very useful.

**What do you dislike about NX CAM?**

It takes a bit of effort to learn the CAM side of NX because it’s very powerful and doesn’t work quite the same way as simpler CAM systems.

We’re getting into helical gear manufacturing, and we’ve been using NC CAM to create complex 4-axis toolpaths for producing these gears.

I like that NX CAM is easy to access and helps in designing tools according to 2D parameters. I enjoy its library and compatibility. Additionally, it's not too heavy on the system and doesn't have the problem of hanging during design.

Training, whenever its new version comes, needs training for using commands and understanding.

I like NX CAM because it's very easy to create paths, whether it's for three-axis, five-axis, or milling types, and this process is very easy and helpful. This ease of creation for machine programs is essential for my work.

one thing i dislike about nx cam is dependency on post processors. sometimes even after creating toolpath, we still have to spend time tweaking the post to get proper machine output

Design and manufacturing in one software.

**What do you dislike about NX CAM?**

I used to like NX CAM, but it has gotten much worse in the last 5 years. It has bugs that never get fixed, and the incorrect IPW is constantly showing. The operation navigator is glitchy, and there are many more issues, too much to list here. I've already shared feedback, and nothing gets fixed. It's a waste of time.

NX CAM supports a variety of API functions and has well-organized documentation, which is great. It is a big help in performing various forms of automation tasks, and compared to other software I used before, it feels much more professional. The initial setup takes time, but it can be done relatively easily by referring to resources such as the support center.

Although it's a somewhat peripheral issue, I think it would be nice to have some overall acceleration features through the GPU.

What I like best about Siemens NX CAM is how seamlessly it integrates CAD and CAM within a single environment. While Siemens NX CAM is a powerful and comprehensive platform, it does have a steep learning curve, especially for new users. I like that NX CAM is very intuitive, which makes my work machining large parts easier. Also, the 5-axis machining feature stands out a lot and is very valuable to me.

Deficient tool library and compatibility with third-party software.

I like the integration with other tools when using NX CAM.

**What do you dislike about NX CAM?**

Installation and licensing is very clunky and outdated. The setup process is clunky and there's a need to move to modern cloud-based user verification and away from clunky license files.

**What problems is NX CAM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use NX CAM for generating code and automation, and it integrates well with Siemens CAD.

I like NX CAM's automatic IPW updates. In other CAM systems, the IPW's need updating manually, but in NX CAM, the updates happen automatically. This feature makes it valuable to me.

the CAM simulation speed could be improved

NX CAM enables us to program the machining of parts. The automatic IPW updates save time by eliminating manual updates needed in other CAM systems.
