I call my pre-Riskalyze days the Dark Ages of managing money. I no longer feel like I'm managing money in the dark. Riskalyze has turned on the bright lights and brought clarity to risk management and portfolio construction. **What do you dislike about Nitrogen?** Not much to improve on here. Possibly improving Retirement Map and integrating more Financial Planning in addition to the Risk Analysis. However, overall I love Riskalyze and couldn't imagine managing money without it. **What problems is Nitrogen solving and how is that benefiting you?** I think I covered this in my answers to the previous questions. ### 2. I used it for a few years, and then recommended it to the principals of my firm, who are now avid users also. **What problems is Nitrogen solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's now easy to explain why I recommend certain investments or portfolios - because it's directly related to how much risk a client is comfortable with. It's also great that we can customize the questionnaire to match the client's portfolio, so they can see (in real dollars) how taking on more risk will affect their portfolio. **What do you dislike about Nitrogen?** I wish it synced better with our recordkeeping system (FIS Relius). We also use RedTail, which syncs great. **What problems is Nitrogen solving and how is that benefiting you?** It has helped us better understand the risk tolerance of our clients and help us customize their portfolios to meet their goals. ### 6. After you enter their portfolio amount, they can see what a certain percentage loss or gain would actually look like in real numbers. It also assigns every holding they have a risk score, and weights their entire portfolio to show whether or not it lines up with what their risk score was, which has been very helpful in illustrating the real need for recommended portfolio allocation changes on more than one occasion. **What do you dislike about Nitrogen?** It took awhile to get a handle on how to enter portfolios in to the software accurately, as numbers and percentages can automatically change as you add more holdings if you do not do it correctly from the start. This has caused frustration, but is more of a learning process than a flaw. **Recommendations to others considering Nitrogen:** Try out the Riskalyze training Webinars if you are having any trouble. **What problems is Nitrogen solving and how is that benefiting you?** This has caused several of our clients to realize they are not anywhere near as conservative or aggressive as they thought they were, as seeing the actual dollar amounts and envisioning their statement showing it hits in a different way than saying "a loss of X%" does. It really helps us illustrate when a client's portfolio is taking on a level of risk that is simply not suitable for them, and provides a necessary back up during discussions regarding necessary portfolio changes. It has also helped us provide clients with reasonable expectations of what their portfolios will look like in the event of market volatility, and given us something to fall back on if they call us worried about their portfolio returns. We have the ability now to remind them that during their risk assessment, they said they would be comfortable with the dollar amounts presented to them, and that we are within them, leaving them no need to worry, since their allocation is appropriate. ### 8. Riskalyze is efficient and great for a client visualization and engagements **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2019 **What do you like best about Nitrogen?** The questionnaire that Riskalyze provides for clients to use creates great client engagement and provides an excellent visual for them based on real numbers of growth or decline of their portfolio, providing real examples of how certain market events could alter their total assets. **What do you dislike about Nitrogen?** It is sometimes difficult to enter client portfolios and took awhile to learn how to do it without skewing the dollar amounts and/or percentages of holdings **Recommendations to others considering Nitrogen:** Try to go to one of their live training sessions. They are great for tips and tricks and provide insight to the options that they provide through their various subscriptions. It was not difficult for our team to find a training session that was close to us, and they even gave us a free pass for one of the members in the office after we had purchased two seats. I would also definitely recommend building your own frequently used models (if you have them) to easily do side by side risk comparisons for clients of their current model against what you could provide them. It is quicker to have them on hand than to try and do it individually as clients come in. **What problems is Nitrogen solving and how is that benefiting you?** It solves the problem of hypothetical market situations clients think they would be ok with being abstract to them by illustrating hard numbers (for example, what their total portfolio would drop to in the event of a double digits downturn in the market). This is great because it allows the client to visualize the scenario and how it would actually make them feel to log in and see that number. ### 9. Must be desperate for cash flow. Poor customer service. **Recommendations to others considering Nitrogen:** Think before you sign contract. Most companies will let you out if unhappy or unsatisfied. These guys will not. If you have a great product/service this contract would not be necessary. They are rude and arrogant. I think they have hired back all the ex-AOL online customer service reps. **What do you dislike about Nitrogen?** Piece of nonsense software run by a piece of s... company. Dont expect anything. You just need to pay the bills which they believe they are entitled lifetime. **Recommendations to others considering Nitrogen:** Seek anything else. Graphs are a joke. When i asked about the graphs being used in the report to show clients, they kept telling me to cut and paste from the program and basically make my own report. Then when I cancelled they jerked me around and kept trying to bill me after they said they would not. **What do you dislike about Nitrogen?** The product cannot produce reports with any of the useful graphs. They told me to cut and paste them and make my own report. Then when I tried to cancel, they started jerking me around. They said I had to talk to their customer service people. I had to do an exit interview. They told me I would not be billed again, and then they billed me again. I told them I had cancelled. Now they are saying my cancellation isn't effective until five months after I cancelled (in writing by the way). DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!! **Recommendations to others considering Nitrogen:** Stay far far away. **What problems is Nitrogen solving and how is that benefiting you?** None. This allows us to reference their questionnaire if we receive questions about why they are in the portfolio. ### 14. The accuracy rate (I believe 95%), is one of the best you'll find, and really gives piece of mind. **What do you dislike about Nitrogen?** Can be a challenge to use at first and train new users on, but it proves to be worth it in the long run.f **What problems is Nitrogen solving and how is that benefiting you?** This system was used in a previous role of mine for risk assessment of lending mclients. I really enjoy how concise the findings are.
