We have users that work in the field doing Audits and Safety training that require memory devices, but the vast majority of our users do not need to use them. We can now allow policyholders to provide information on a memory stick in a read-only format but also enforce encryption of any data that is carried on the memory stick by our users. **What do you dislike about Netwrix Endpoint Protector?** We have encountered some false positives on CD/DVD writers that we want to allow without interaction with Endpoint Protector, but EP has picked them up. Its amazing that such a complex was created with simplest interface. Controls are clear and mostly can be used without any issues. Documentation of the product is also good and have thorough details, One of the key thing is Deep packet inspection. This allows the organization like us to monitor , what's going out of the company. Though we have also started using a feature , where we can lock the laptop/Desktop, USB and external storage device. Reporting is another thing that I and my CEO liked the most. It give us detailed reporting experience, where we can also see the shadow files, which were part of the files which were transferred. **What do you dislike about Netwrix Endpoint Protector?** Nothing as of now, It gave me better control. Though I feel there should be a dashboard like kibana and graphana to see the detailed logs using visualization plugins. It will be really great if reporting can also be explicitly available but content aware policy vise. The logs are good , But content aware reporting, especially department wise reports will give us better control over the log monitoring process,. I am using it for day to day monitoring and control. I am getting most of what I spent for it. Most important thing is that customer support for CoSoSys is really smart, quick and customer friendly. They listen you well and provide you solution. It automatically finds devices so you can add rights and policies to those devices or about those devices. There is also One Time Passwords - that I think last as long as you keep them in the console, so can be re-used, despite the name. I haven't ran into any issue, but some things are not as obvious as one might expect. **What problems is Netwrix Endpoint Protector solving and how is that benefiting you?** Data loss prevention - users can't randomly send sensitive data out to their Google Drive or send bank information in a facebook chat. We can let them use a USB - but read only, so they can't sneak info out. This one product lets us cover several NIST security requirements with just a few clicks and a client install. We can create policies for users, computers, devices, etc. This allows us to build very specific policies to give least privilege to end users. They were also very competitive with pricing compared to other service providers in the same space. **What do you dislike about Netwrix Endpoint Protector?** With our previous DLP provider we could allow emails to specific domains but disallow emails to external domains. Because of the way EPP integrates with web browser emails it doesn't allow for this. So we just have to block all emailing of sensitive information. There are some new features they've added that we had some issues with. The features have been out for a while now and only recently have begun giving us issues. Some of our policies were designed around these features and the only solution they have so far is to disable these features until they have some updates. **Recommendations to others considering Netwrix Endpoint Protector:** Even if you choose to host the server in your own cloud environment you have to do it with their AMI which disables SSH access for you. So you're reliant on them for continued support. Endpoint protector also has the ability to lock down a wide variety of USB devices. The reporting capabilities of Endpoint Protector make it a strong competitor among other DLP solutions. The EasyLock application when combined with enforced encryption rounds out the DLP solution when writing to USBs is necessary. The role based access features of Endpoint Protector by CoSoSys are important to the teams that will be administering it. With Custom detections Endpoint Protector by CoSoSys allows us to search for keywords that are important to our business and make sure that data does not leave our organization. The versatility of Endpoint Protector by CoSoSys with regards to the exit points it supports is very useful in making sure that important data does not leave. **What do you dislike about Netwrix Endpoint Protector?** The absence of Okta integration and a Splunk app is what I most dislike about Endpoint Protector. The UI could use some rewording and workflow changes. If they had some wizards to be able to copy a Windows policy to a Mac policy to a Linux policy that would be a huge plus but those features are still lacking. There's a bit of automation that Endpoint Protector by CoSoSys could do better on. If some of the policy creation tasks were automated that would make an Administrator's job much easier. Endpoint Protector by CoSoSys is lacking in API capabilities that would allow us to feed the solution with data that is important for use to guard. The adding of custom dictionaries is a very manual process. There is no SOAR solution integration this type of integration would be very beneficial for some customers. **Recommendations to others considering Netwrix Endpoint Protector:** Make sure you do performance tests. There are a few features of Endpoint Protector that if turned on will hurt performance of high I/O tasks like software development builds. We had many machines that were Linux based that we needed a solution for that we also used for our Mac and Windows endpoints. Endpoint Protector was key to helping us fill this gap. We were looking to get a better handle on insider threats and the implementation of Endpoint Protector by CoSoSys has helped us realize the benefit of a tool that is compatible with all the operating system types that we have in our environment. ### 22. The process took a lot of work in pre-planning but the actual implementation of Endpoint Protector has been pretty easy! It takes only a few minutes to set up a fully working appliance, develop an appropriate set of controls, and start deploying to workstations. The device classification and selection screens are of a particular easy to use yet powerful nature, and since recent updates, adding new exceptions via all sorts of identifiers is a breeze. **What do you dislike about Netwrix Endpoint Protector?** As the solution is modular, and we are licenced for Device Control only, it can be a little confusing in the console as to which elements apply to our setup and which don't. The interface could be made simpler by removing those elements for administrators for which we are not subscribed. A little more Active Directory integration for role based access, such as using AD security group to provide system permissions, would also help bring the product forward. **Recommendations to others considering Netwrix Endpoint Protector:** Based on my experience, as a Device Control product, you aren't going to find a better one than Endpoint Protector.
