"Mature product with strong performance capabilities."

What do you like best?

Simplistic GUI and scalability to deploy multiple modules across your environment and centralized management console with good integration capabilities. Multiple tiers of architecture methods give the flexibility to deploy multiple detection components in the heterogeneous environment and easy to configure fail over options. Best part is the policy configuration framework provided in DLP with the concepts such as policy groups which provide isolation capabilities for policy application. Reusable sender/recipient patterns makes life easy for administrators when there is frequent change in exceptions. In terms of incident management, there are plenty of smart and automatic response rules can be configured and integrated with your ticketing systems. Policy constructs such as data identifiers and profiles cater to both structured and unstructured data. Multiple detection servers cater to active as well as passive monitoring of the user activities. Overall a great product to have in your environment in current age of compliance regulations and legal liabilities.

What do you dislike?

Lack of compliance reporting which can be configured out of the box. Also dashboards can be quite rigid. One needs integration with data insight for more detailed incident analysis which comes with additional license and hardware requirements. Also, Database Exact data profiles limitations for dynamic databases.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Highly recommended for data loss prevention and protection requirements overall. Ranked highly in industry and quite capable to deliver your requirements. Do check out/consult current customers in your industry who are using this product to know their feedback.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Intellectual property and PII/PHI data protection

Compliance needs

Risk mitigation requirements.

"Excellent Data loss solution with simplicity"

What do you like best?

I have been using this from last 3 years, I would say no other product can beat this. What I really like about this is Easy to deploy, user-friendly console, good reporting etc, I am very familiar with Installation/Deploy, creating policies, agent deployment. provides more details regarding db health, agent status, and grouping for DLP policies. it is one of our primary security solutions. It has been widely adapted in the enterprise. Good this is that users don't even know it's there unless something is flagged

I would suggest evaluating this at least once.

What do you dislike?

I would say reporting part is the little bit tricky, you need to get IT Analytics installed to get the reports, It could be better if reports can be accessed from console directly.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would strongly recommended Symantec DLP for Data security.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have realized that after implementing DLP we are more secure with the Data traveling outside the organization. we have control over data and the most beautiful part is notification/incidents.

"Powerful data protection for enterprise"

What do you like best?

DLP is powerful, flexible and extensible. Whatever your issue, you can probably use DLP in a creative way to protect your data. Obviously there is the bread and butter such as discover scanning, but I particularly like Flex Responses. Flex Responses add a lot of extensibility to the DLP platform, suddenly you can write your own plugins that can be triggered by DLP to automate many processes. Personally I have worked on flex responses that integrate symantec products that have no native integration (such as ICT).

What do you dislike?

The platform is somewhat inconsistent in terms of how it has been built and what you can use where. Take for instance Flex Responses; Agent flex responses are written in python and Server flex responses are written in Java. I would like to see more standardisation for the DLP platform in terms of development standards.

Also the UI is fairly outdated and in some places unusable, anyone who's used the browser to go back feels my pain... if you know, you KNOW!

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Talk to a product SE for DLP such as Jake Wardell, these guys are incredibly knowledgeable about DLP and all of the potential use cases it has.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

At work we are constantly using DLP to solve a number of problems such as scanning massive stores of data, preventing emails containing confidential information from being released and more. I personally sit more towards the development side and have worked with DLP creating flex responses and product integrations. As I mentioned before, I have worked on product integration flex responses. The benefits of DLP are that the platform can be extended and development upon without waiting for symantec. Cyber security is a complex market and symantec can't always solve your business solutions out of the box (due to their highly bespoke nature). DLP is aware of this and gives you the keys to the castle, so you can protect your data how you need.

"Powerhouse of DLP solutions"

What do you like best?

The UI makes navigating incidents, developing policies, administration work, and updates all very easy. The ability to create simple to extremely complex rules is great to have. Utilizing the DLP solution as part of the mail solution was also extremely simple as well.

What do you dislike?

I wish there was a Linux client available. This has been the only issue I have ran into but there are work around depending on the reason for the need of DLP on Linux. I wanted to scan Apache logs, so instead I export the logs to a smb share for scanning.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Having a good understanding what your company considers sensitive is important. Not all company's need to follow PCI, HIPAA, PII, etc... Some companies sensitive data might be a recipe or design doc. Meeting with key individuals/groups to have this discussion prior to implemented a DLP tool will help get your DLP program up and running faster.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Reducing the amount of sensitive data leaving the environment and also identifying who has this data locally stored on there corporate assets. This tool helped us to realize that our end users don't truly understand the value of the data they have.

"Made a great deal of protecting our encrypted files over our local and offshore databases"

What do you like best?

Symantec offers one of the best network DLP solutions so far available. The Network Monitor component is the most advanced on the market. You integrate with the other Network DLP components like Prevent for Web, Prevent for Email, Discover and Prevent. I also find the Data Insight component a very valuable feature that allows the client to have full visibility into the company data. Data Insight is a very good component that raises the standard DLP functions and helps the client to gain visibility over the data usage, ownership, and permissions.

What do you dislike?

Oracle is only the DB used by Symantec, which is a deal-breaker. It is exclusive to one DB provider. The Symantec DLP solution is very complex, and installation requires many components to setup. Sometimes the Oracle instance needs to be restarted when using full Windows deployment. It's a bit cumbersome.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

With the right tools and right implementation of the suggested inputs from their customers, I think they are heading the right way.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were able to monitor how data is being used, whether an employee is on or off the network. It is problem we were able to fix because we were able to retrace our steps when data are altered in the system by whom. And lastly, we were able to prevent leaks and theft of our encrypted data. We used to store them as is in a cloud, but the incidence of being stolen is still high. So we were able to manage leaks and prevent theft and loss of our stored data.

"Safe and easy data protection."

What do you like best?

I love this application is a tool that provides easy protection for all types of files and configurations, thanks to its protection services for access to specific web sites, protection for all types of personal or corporate emails, in short, this is a complete solution for the protection of all types of access and access to personal information.

What do you dislike?

This tool works well, but it must be complemented with other protection applications, I do not like it very much, its little compatibility with applications that are not of the same brand of them, it seems that they want to force you to buy more products from them, so that the application provides its greatest potential, that is not good at all, in our company, we use different protection systems, and this tool is difficult to complement with many of them, we have had to look at different ways to complement this tool, with those we use to other protection services, we do not move to all the products sold by Symantec, simply because we do not like them, so every application they sell, should be versatile and adapt to all kinds of applications.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This system is recommended, for protection of all types of access, to different websites, servers, access to external files, passwords and other access configurations in the cloud.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Thanks to this application, we have protected a part of our database, and access to different services of our company, as well as the protection of access to external files through servers, has also conferred an endpoint protection, through this application, previously we could have some leakage of important information, in some sectors of our company, due to the easy access to them, no all those leaks have been closed, we are also devising new forms of protection for the future, that we see, with this tool we can apply.

"Good product, but lacks some good enterprise features"

What do you like best?

The product family (although expensive) and the ability to manage the family from one console with the same DLP policies and rules.

What do you dislike?

Very complex to implement DLP policies and rules for endpoints without the other product-family components like the mail-gateway. Some simple things that would make things far more simple and less complex aren't even implemented yet.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you're an enterprise client: really do a proof of concept and see how the products works with a large environment: is if possible at all and how's the complexity?

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It offers us good protection when using multiple external files. Although a good product, I'd be honest about some of the things that make working with the product complex or expensive. A fairly great number of theoretically small adjustments would make it much better.

"Ease of Predefined policy template"

What do you like best?

DLP policy template are flexible to use with wide range of option to add key words, content. With GDPR compliance in row it easier to implement the policy.

Symantec DLP is well matured product compared to other vendors.

With integration of solution with counter part Symantec solution has made it ease of management.

What do you dislike?

Fine tuning of policy is quite time consuming, however once policy are ready it works well. Fetching attribute from LDAP also does not work. User level its difficult to understand the policy. Special session need to be taken to understand the complete DLP solution. Support is way to slow. For instance, if I create case, I get call from support after two or three days. If Symantec can come up with single console for all solution will be very helpful & easy to manage wide range of solution in single console. Database support needs to be extended for SQL. Customer prefer SQL over oracle database. Even management of database is easier compared to oracle.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Reporting part of DLP solution is well versed, gives better visibility of data moving & residing in the organisation

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data visibility with in organization. Control over the data flow. Awareness among employee while sharing the data is limited due to strict policy. Able to meet Compliance level as per the requirement. Reporting & alert to specific department wise is very useful functionality. Endpoint, email & network DLP help the organization with min level data loss.

"The complete End to End DLP solution for enterprise"

What do you like best?

The flexibility of writing the DLP polices, Vector machine learning, Use same polices for any channels like Web, Email, Endpoint, Network and extend to cloud services. The new integration option gives to use same dlp policy on CASB solution and WSS.

It provide complete incidents information and administrator can take actions

What do you dislike?

Endpoint DLP doesn't support linux OS, Symantec should come with the solution.

Symantec should provide the manager approval option as other vendor provide the option this option.

Database management tools should be provided by symantec.

The deployment of Endpoint DLP agent should be given on console it self.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

greate policy management , easy of incidents response, extended to all channel

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data loss at various channels, keep healthy compliance, increase customer confidence, create Information Security awareness between users so that less incidents are created.

It reduce the data breaches, now new features like ICT and ICE has increased the value of DLP

"New version of DLP is quite better with additional support of Mac and few more features"

What do you like best?

I like the tagging feature of MS Office files.

Additional support for Mac users.

USB blocking and read only mode.

Network share block mode for on premise and off premise options.

Using Exact Data Match and Index Data Match data profiles.

Vector machine learning is quite better for implementing policies.

What do you dislike?

Takes large data set for implementing Vector Machine Learning detection technique.

Difficult to find correlation of policies direct with users.

No Investigation feature like websense Data Loss Prevention.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

As I have used Data Loss Prevention, It is a good product to go for.

You can control endpoints for securing data to be confidential and not to be exported out of the organisation.

Product has multiple data identification methods like Described Content Match (DCM), Indexed Data Match (IDM), Exact Data Match (EDM) and Vector Machine Learning (VML) for identification of different types of data.

Regular Expressions are very good identifiers for finding source codes.

Also used inbuilt templates for recognizing Credit Card and Debit Card information.

We can configure our SMTP for getting email notifications for incidents.

Getting ready for compliance with Data Loss Prevention is quite reliable. It built trust in your customer's relationship for better business in future data security.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As being a software product company, this helps me securing my source code in lot of ways. Blocking USB and network drive feature is also a good initiative.

Identifying source code with regular expression.

"Amazing features"

What do you like best?

The different characteristics that it can offer, it is a very robust tool, it offers an endless number of possible configurations that can be adapted to any environment and need.

What do you dislike?

In this way, with its numerous options, it can become a bit confusing and complicated to implement. Additionally, the database engine that stores all the information should be reconsidered since not everyone can or has the capacity to use it.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Study the possibility of having a more affordable database engine in order to reach other markets where this type of solutions is also required but by budget it can not be implemented.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Currently we are faced with innumerable conditions that can compromise the information of the companies, from targeted attacks to the same users, who for some reason are not happy in their positions, for this matter it is important to have tools that allow to see and protect the information and its entire cycle either internally or externally.

"Best in the market...."

What do you like best?

I like the integration with CASB and other Cloud solutions like ICE and so on, it fits very well and also they have an integration with the southamerican laws about data protection.... more exactly here in Colombia you got a theme for Ley de Protección de Datos 1581 wich empowers the company to start sooner the implementation of this DLP.

What do you dislike?

the requirement for oracle DB, i think it increases the prices for a solution like this and maybe you guys should open it up for other third vendors like postgress or SQL anyway

Recommendations to others considering the product:

In a project of DLP 1st you must have a well inventory of what do you need to protect, where are your informations stakeholders and so on, first do that, and later (speaking as consultant) you will see what products or solutions you need.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

helping universities and companies with gain control of their data anywhere and no matter where the users are, we can protect from the service itself up to the endpoints and their integration with the data

"Based on DLP 14 it is awesome, but heard it only gets better"

What do you like best?

What do I like best? It works and is the bets product out there for DLP. That's it, its pretty simple. Long answer is that Symantec continues to be the leader in DLP.

Now remember DLP is more about a Data Loss Prevention program than a specific product. If you don't have a process/program in place, the product no matter how awesome it is, and Symantec is awesome will not be very successful in your environment.

That's the hard news...

The good news is that Symantec DLP is really powerful

What do you dislike?

DLP can be difficult to get the data organziated and undrestand what makes "sensitive" data in your enivonment. I mean it is easy to figure out that SSNs and PHI shouldn't be leaving, but getting that data organziaed is the challenge.

Symantec DLP leverages Oracle for its DB which can be a pain and a turn off for users. I wish the Symantec leveraged MSSQL as that would be easier to do than Oracle, but I doubt that is changing.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Get executive buy off and implemenation. This is going to take time to work through and a process is needed, it isn't just a set and forget either.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Protecting Merger and Aquistion Data. Protecting PHI.

It is more about leveraging the tool of DLP to proteect data. You need a process

"Symantec DLP is our choice"

What do you like best?

I worked as a security architect and implemented Symantec DLP to protect client's sensitive data from leakage. I have compared Symantec DLP with other leading software on the market and we have already completed a few proof of concepts in a medium size companies. Generally, from my experience, Symantec DLP does not allow any type of threat to penetrate if setup and implemented properly by an engineer and the customer IT staff is involved in the DLP implementation. The major features of Symantec DLP we tested were: rule sets customization to filter false positives, integration with IT environments and especially with Active Directory, supporting large number of network protocols for intercepting and analyzing data, endpoint agent with the ability to block data on all channels with content analysis. The DLP implementation is quite straightforward, but if you have some difficulties with extra components deployments you should invite engineer from vendor to speed up the installation process. The product is stable, we did not face performance issues.

What do you dislike?

Data collection and analysis of the sensitive data pattern from different parties might be time consuming, so you should involve the customer IT staff and even vendor support to customize the settings efficiently and minimise the volume of false positives. I believe it's common for almost all DLP software that some DLP functions require extra investments in time and money. Symantec DLP reporting feature has some limitations.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I recommend to start with planned proof of concepts and to clearly define what you consider form DLP software and how much time you ready to invest to this project. Generally, Symantec DLP is one of the leading DLP software on the market and we can provide it with our few years experience working with Symantec. I recommend it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Symantec DLP advantage is the flexibility and customization of rules that can be implemented. There are a lot of things you are able to modify with Symantec DLP in order to customize to your organization's specific needs.

With configured correctly DLP policies, our customers achieved a good level of security protection in order to prevent sensitive data leakage, monitor and audit corporate data flows.

I am definitely recommending this product to our partners or clients. Any company that requires DLP solution might consider a DLP solution from Symantec.

"The best in the world"

What do you like best?

The completeness of the product. Other solutions can do some aspects better but lack in other however Symantec DLP provides a complete package and addresses every aspect of data loss possibilities along with in-depth visibility of the environment. And combined with robust integration capabilities with 3rd party systems the possibility is endless for this product.

What do you dislike?

The aspect that I dislike most about Symantec DLP is the back end db reliance on Oracle. I mean back in the day Oracle was more secure in comparison to SQL Server because of encryption and all however times have moved and Symantec should consider introducing MSSQL Server as a possible back-end. This is something that I would definitely like. Plus introduction of Machine Learning for Endpoint Prevent.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Machine Learning for Endpoint, More robust OCR capabilities, seamless integration with ticketing tools and other SOC tools

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As a partner, I have implemented Symantec Data Loss Prevention for many of my customers and they have not only implemented the product to satisfy there compliance goals but there security goals as well. Once the DLP program achieves a sense of maturity, it brings a lot of benefits like user activity visibility, user awareness with respect to data security etc.

"Complete DLP solution"

What do you like best?

Symantec DLP software provide monitoring to all channel for data in rest, data in motion. The GUI of Enforce server has very good reporting data which give complete visibility of incidents. Symantec DLP integration with other solution like proxy, encryption and cloud email is very easy.

What do you dislike?

more application to be added in Application monitoring list, Agent support on linux system required. On Mac systems very limited prevent features. deployment of agent from enforce server or any tool help IT members to deploy agent quickly else customer need to be depend on other tools & it increase deployment period for DLP solution. providing exception to internal IP for DLP endpoint to be added.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

this solution provide effective ROI and keep data protect

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With the help if DLP solution we can ensure that data is protected. Data protection from external and internal threat.

"A critical piece of the security layer"

What do you like best?

DLP is a great surveillance and automation layer for a security stack. It doesn't replace other tools like firewalls, etc...but it absolutely does help you find and prevent bad situations before they become public bad situations. It's also great for educating users on how to elevate themselves in to a more secure environment.

What do you dislike?

DLP is powerful, but it really doesn't have a great intuitive feel. It's easy to create policies you think are robust only to find that you've blocked businesses processes (legit or not), and aggravated your users. DLP needs a slow rollout to prevent the tool from becoming shelf-ware.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Get someone who understands the tool and how to slow-roll it in to your environment. Don't rush the tool on to your users without education campaigns.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

DLP is great in Identifying info that is insecure so that you at least have the chance of correcting the situation before it's targeted for ex-filtration (via any number of vectors). It's also very good at helping organizations realize that events are taking place that weaken the overall security posture of an organization.

"Market Leading DLP product"

What do you like best?

It's versatile and provides great functionality for our clients. It covers all aspects of DLP vectors, such as Endpoint, Local Network and Cloud. Combine this with the other products that DLP can tie into, such as SEE, WSS, CASB etc and you have a suite that can provide it all. EMD specifically is an incredibly useful DLP functionality that gives DLP the edge and really helps customers protect the key data.

What do you dislike?

The network discover functionality has some really common and buggy issues with the File Reader in which it fails to properly relinquish control of the Mount Point. Incredibly frustrating.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving advanced Endpoint Control using SEP, DLP and SEE. We are providing Ethical Walls with NPE and Very Large Discover Programmes with Network Discover.

"Marketing Leading Data Loss Prevention by Symantec"

What do you like best?

Symantec DLP provides an exceptional level of data loss prevention capability in all areas within an expected large enterprise estate.

The platform allows business to discover, monitor and protect sensitive data at rest and in motion.

It also provides native integration into other supporting applications, such as Symantec CloudSoc, Symantec Endpoint Encryption and Veritas Data Insight.

What do you dislike?

The management platform (Enforce) could do with an improved interface, making it more intuitive to use for a new user.

The reporting functionality needs to be improved on.

Move the platform from using an Oracle database to using a SQL database.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Symantec DLP is solving the requirements of preventing sensitive data leakage within an enterprise, as well as providing the ability for business to actually understand what data they produce.

"Runs in the background, no need to do much"

What do you like best?

Symantec runs in the background of your computer, and you do not need to do much to make sure it is doing its job. It provides antivirus, antispyware, browser protection, email protection, a smart firewall, and more. You are able to check the status of your device at any time, as it has a user-friendly tray icon making it easy to find if you forget the spelling (or even the name) of this product. Most users have no need to "use" the product, and simply need to allow it to run in the background. When a user does need to access the program, it is very simple and laid out so even a novice user is able to navigate.

What do you dislike?

Viruses occasionally get through, as the software does not update frequently to keep up with the newest viruses and spyware. When it does update it catches most (if not all), but it is very slow to catch the viruses when they are new.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Very easy to use, and alerts if there is an intruder in anything on your device. Highly recommended for the ease of use, alert features, and ease of recovery if something were to go wrong.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Preventing viruses, protecting (encrypting) email and other documents on our work computers. It is very user friendly, and most users have no reason to use it at all other than to allow it to run in the background.

"Symantec DLP"

What do you like best?

Its very user friendly console with advanced features like OCR technology, Bluetooth monitoring.

Easy to upgrade from old versions to new versions.

Best support from Symantec engineers

What do you dislike?

Unable to check or delete multiple machines under the Agent list, this feature is very much required for day to day operations.

Off premises incidents are not getting the public IP when incidents captures

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Am using Symantec since 9 years+ and feel its very good product and the support is good, issues are resolved in timely manner.

Support engineers are patient in troubleshooting the issues and they recommend alternate solutions if product doesn't have the ability, then they take as enhancement request then they work with backline engineers to provide hot fix for their client specific.

I feel we all learn from the day to day tasks so still there is lot scope of improvements.

overall its good product to use and implement to any scale of organizations like small scale and large scale industry.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We solved OCR Optical Character Recognition ) technology by upgrading to 15.1, its simple steps to implement OCR, also Bluetooth file transfer and Form Matching.

What do you like best?

1. Very good support for all DLP Guidelines and basic requirements.

2.Storage components are unarguably of high quality .

3 Increased protection of our organisation and members.

What do you dislike?

1. UI needs a bit of modification.

2. Pricing plans are bit too high for small organisations.

3. Need more better documentation about how stuff is being protected so easier for invdivisual to know how things are working and how data is being protected from Loss and theft.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Guidelines should be followed throughout the process. Keep an eye on how our data is protected.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Easy Data protection and Privacy is maintained . Good to use for long term business data protection.

Easier understanding about data policies and security enforcements too and fro our data. Liked the approach.

"Good Product for Data Security Management"

What do you like best?

We only got to Trialing the product, no in depth and long term experience was gathered sadly. So what I can say is mainly about first impressions and some short term impressions.

Deployment within an organization seemed relatively easy, support is great, especially since the community chimes in and supports as well. Any questions arrising will at least be answered by a community member and oftentimes Symantec itself will chime in as well.

The requirements for DSGVO are rather strict in regards to what data is allowed to go outside of our organisation and this product makes this relatively simple.

The interface is rather straight forward and the options offered seem well thought out. We sadly never went beyond trialing the product - see Dislikes - but I would liked to have worked with the product more.

What do you dislike?

The pricing is something that I have had troubles with. Working for a NGO there is always the need to reduce cost. Especially for companies that rely on resellers, getting rebates is rather difficult.

There is some confusion here and there in usability, but nothing that cannot be solved.

Lastly we did not continue beyond the trial phase since pricing and complexity of the software went beyond what is possible for us as NGO.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Symantec is a company with long time experience in all things security. If budget is nothing that you worry about this is a fine solution for a problem that all bigger companies face.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Accordance with GSPR

Network Monitoring

File Security

"Best way to store critical and secured data "

What do you like best?

I think the concept and working for SDLP is really great and has a huge potential. As someone who used this for testing some good data, i can only be impressed by the ability to integrate so well with CLOUD and have a hand on data safety. I really enjoyed exploring it.

What do you dislike?

I think the learning time for this was greater and a user has to be super alert when tagging data. I also think the UI needs to be updated to provide a better experience and more information on all features.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Its essential to have a great understanding of the tool. I can suggest exploring it on your own before using it to solve problems. It works great and has a great way to go.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I used it to hook up a massive network of secured data on cloud and backing information to safe and secured storages.

"excellent product with quite broad portfolio integration"

What do you like best?

of the things that I like most about this product DLP is the integration it has with CASB and the search engines so advanced and prescient when they integrate with mail the cloud email solution of symanytec works perfectly

What do you dislike?

to tell the truth when I have parameterized the DLP the creation of rules seems a little complex

Recommendations to others considering the product:

this product is excellent, we must not forget that symantec is a company with a path in security in many years, several of its technologies are in the magician quadrant of gardner as leaders

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The cost of the solution is a very important factor, by offering this solution to customers, the first thing that is fixed is its price, at this point it is very important to emphasize the advantages it offers the company, to have the governance of its data both inside and outside their facilities

"Strong Data Leakage Software"

What do you like best?

The symantec DLP is one of the most secure data leakage prevention (or data lost prevention) software. It's used by a lots of big customer to prevent data stealing. The robust architecture is composed by three level: Oracle database, enforce server and reporting server. The database mantain all logs and configuration and iit's based on one of the best dbms on the market. The other two layers are symantec propietary and they are involved into the web ui and the policy creation. They are required also to distribute the policy to specific agent that enforce the DLP policy in the client.

What do you dislike?

I donpt like the complexyti in the management of oracle databases that require most of the time a dedicated database manager. There isn't a tool to backup data but you should use the oracle standard backup solution.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

When you need a well tested solution with a fully integrated DLP you shuld adopt symantech DLP safely.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

the solution is able to contrast data leakage on multiple channel: web, email, USB sticks etc.
