## About Mote
Mote is a literacy platform for K-12 schools and districts, covering reading, writing, speaking, and listening. In procurement terms it is an assistive technology software platform for students with learning disabilities, reading and writing challenges, and ELLs (English Language Learners), built around Chromebooks and Google Workspace. It is used in more than 25,000 schools by over 2 million users across 100+ countries. Mote Sidebar (the core product). A Chrome extension that travels with the student across any webpage and inside Google Docs, Slides, Forms, Classroom, and Gmail. Its tools are organized into three modes: 1. Reading: Read Aloud (whole page or a selected area), Translation, Dictionary, My Annotations, Screen Mask and Focus Mode. 2. Writing: Text Prediction, Speech to Text, Mote Writing Review, and read-back of the student's own work 3. Creating: voice recording, audio generation, audio upload, and a personal content library Mote PDF. A web app that hosts PDFs and makes them fully workable with the Sidebar tools, and adds PDF mark-up: highlighting, annotation, and text boxes. Files open from the Sidebar or directly from Google Drive. Mote iOS. A native app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Web pages, documents, scanned pages, voice notes, and a student's own writing each become an item in a personal library that reads aloud, highlights word by word, and resumes where they left off. Mote Platform (administration). User provisioning by domain, CSV, or individual invite; Google and ClassLink SSO; ClassLink rostering and Google Classroom import; feature controls at account, class, and student level; Assessment Mode for restricting tools during testing; and usage reporting from student up to district. Mote meets FERPA, COPPA, and GDPR requirements, including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. Mote tools are commonly documented in IEP and 504 plans, and the same tools are available to every student as a Tier 1 universal support under MTSS and UDL.
