The Mistral Small model is about twice the size of an average small model, so it feels quite knowledgeable. I also like that the agentic interface in AI Studio allows pre-caching of all instructions, so I don’t need to send them every time through the API. They have free API so you can use it to test it alongside with other models and compare results and see if you can use Mistral for this task. **What do you dislike about Mistral AI?** Sadly, even their large model sometimes doesn’t provide the results I need for certain specific tasks (it’s just not clever enough), so I end up using other AI models instead at times. **What problems is Mistral AI solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Mistral as a classification agent for customer inquiries (to route them to different departments), for analyzing sentiment in public reviews, and as a general agent to summarize reports and other documents. It allows to do that without high costs like top models, but does gives the same result in certain tasks. ### 2. Their models are, as far as possible, open source. Mistral does not store personal data: what you discuss in Mistral stays there. The price is in line with other AI models. The UI/UX is fine; you can work with projects and upload documents into them. Additionally, Mistral is certainly intelligent enough for reasonably complex tasks. I did have to do the onboarding a bit DIY; that could perhaps be (partially) automated. **What do you dislike about Mistral AI?** It may not be as refined as Claude. In that sense, the performance is somewhat less, but for me, that doesn't outweigh the benefits it offers. It's a pity that it doesn't have integrations with other tools. **What problems is Mistral AI solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Mistral for all my daily tasks. Additionally, I don't use any other AI models, except occasionally for generating images.
