**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Materialise Magics?**

Capable of fixing and editing files for 3D printing.

**What do you dislike about Materialise Magics?**

Some features can be tricky to use and can give unwanted results.

**What problems is Materialise Magics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fix files with errors, shell parts, change scale.

  ### 2. Pure Magic for your additive needs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rishikkesh B. | Mechanical Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Materialise Magics?**

The stl editor to repair the stl files is much better than other softwares in the market. It also has added texture design tool to design textures for industrial needs

**What do you dislike about Materialise Magics?**

The user interface is slightly complex for some one who is not familiar with the tool. But once your learn it gets better. I had challenges initially but later things became easier

**What problems is Materialise Magics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used it to clean and repair stl files for additive manufacturing. I also designed textures. It helped me in 3d printing best designs without any problems. This was my go to software

  ### 3. Magics is like magic

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Materialise Magics?**

The main benefit of Magics is that it is extremely powerful software - for fixing and manipulating files, creating supports, creating build files to send to printers, serializing, honeycomb, the list goes on and on. The interface is pretty intuitive, help is actually helpful, and support is great.

**What do you dislike about Materialise Magics?**

It's a bit pricey, and adding modules to add functionality costs even more. Sometimes it bogs down on really large files, leading occasionally to crashes.

**What problems is Materialise Magics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Magics takes what would be a slow, tedious process and speeds it up. It allows me to seamlessly create build files that would be hard or impossible with other software.

  ### 4. Smart Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sanyukta B. | Architectural Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Materialise Magics?**

It has lot of great features like using supports for 3d printing parts. File repair features. Texturing tool is nice.

**What do you dislike about Materialise Magics?**

Hard to learn. For a new user, it takes a lot of time to learn. I watched videos to learn new features.

**What problems is Materialise Magics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Doing 3D prints, adding supports. I have to make models for my architecture projects. Trying out new concepts using Magics is what I did.

  ### 5. Powerful software. Lot of customizable features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rishikesh B. | Sr. Technical Program Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Materialise Magics?**

The customized feature to repair the part file and also the ability to design supports is great

**What do you dislike about Materialise Magics?**

The files sometimes become huge and takes up a lot of space

**What problems is Materialise Magics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to edit surfaces and also design optimized supports for the 3D prinitng. Texture feature for 3D printing also benefits me

  ### 6. Nice Platform for CAD, 3D Reconstruction and 3D Printing application

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Materialise Magics?**

I like its User-friendly GUI, existing advanced tools for 3D Printing file preparation. there are many tools CAD tools are available such as Hollowing, Cutting punching, the surface to solid, labeling(emboss/deboss text), shrinkwrap, rescaling etc. which you will not get in open-source software. or most important we can also build a support structure according to our requirements, we can define a lattice structure to reduce the material requirement.
Shrinkwrap tool and resampling tools are very interesting which helps in making the model robust and highest quality.

**What do you dislike about Materialise Magics?**

I don't like its supported export formats. we can not export our files to DAE, FBX, 3DS, 3DM, PRJ, and if we want to export files to .iges, CATIA, Solidworks, .step, pro/engineer, Revit then we have to purchase other modules. we can not register two different datasets in this module.
Their charges for the training session which I don't like. and MIMICS pricing is also high as compared to other proprietary software.
Mesh quality tools should be customizable.

**What problems is Materialise Magics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I carry out 3D Modelling, 3D Printing file preparation for 3D printing of Human anatomy and additive manufacturing parts. CAD file editing services, a consultancy. and we are using this software to satisfy our customer's needs and requirements. we work on patient-specific implants and this helps us to run our organisation to get sales/services.

**Official Response from Liesbeth Kemel:**

> Thank you for your feedback! We are happy to see that you are enjoying our software on a daily basis. Customer feedback is important to us and allows us to keep improving our software.

Regarding the points for improvement you're mentioning, I would like to lift a tip of the veil on the upcoming release of Magics, where we will announce something big to improve the parametric workflows within Magics. Stay tuned!

  ### 7. Best software for repairing files

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rashi G. | Biomedical Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Materialise Magics?**

The auto fix function is very quick and it provides fast repairing of any files and objects. The place viewing is a fantastic option and is helpful in visualization and repairing of the data

**What do you dislike about Materialise Magics?**

Export in 3D pdf function is not adequate and the color of interfaces is not that user friendly. The software requires much of the RAM and hence the laptop is heated up during operations. the overapplying triangles and other discrepancies are not corrected and have to be done manually which is time consuming.

**Recommendations to others considering Materialise Magics:**

It isi a great software, a bit expensive but the price is justifies when you use it. The ease of operation on boolean and other cut paste is much simpler and happens flawlessly.

**What problems is Materialise Magics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is not possible to print a file directly and there are many operations to be carried out. Magics is an amazing software and it saves time and money. If we give a file directly for printing, there are chances that the print fails and both time and resources are wasted. Magics helps in that and the viewing and marking is also very efficient. Also it is the best interface to check the thickness of parts to see if it is printable.
