# What co-browsing tools work across all browsers without requiring a software download or plugin on the customer side?

Hey G2 users, we kept losing customers at the very first step of support sessions because of plugin prompts and install screens. The question we couldn't get a clean answer on was which co-browsing tools genuinely work across all browsers without requiring software downloads on the customer side. The vendor pages all say "no download required" but that claim falls apart in practice more than you'd expect, especially on mobile Safari.

What we're trying to confirm before making a decision:

No install or plugin prompt on any mainstream browser, including mobile

Session quality that doesn't degrade noticeably on browsers outside Chrome

Fast enough to initiate mid-call without breaking the flow of a conversation

Consistent experience whether the customer is on desktop or phone

Platforms where the no-download experience actually holds up:

Surfly: Sessions start directly in the customer's browser from a single link click, with no download and no quality loss even on sessions that include audio and video.

Channel.me Cobrowsing: Requires a single JavaScript snippet on the site and customers join without downloading anything, with implementation taking less than a day.

Zoho Assist: Cross-platform support with a lightweight customer-side client and step-by-step guidance that reduces hesitation from less technical users before the session begins.

Upscope: Customers join via a simple link and the session starts immediately, with the experience working well even for elderly or non-technical users who wouldn't navigate a download process.

Specifically keen to hear from teams supporting customers on mobile: does any of these hold up properly on Safari iOS, or is that still where most of them quietly fall apart?

“No download” usually breaks on Safari or older mobile browsers. That’s where most tools quietly degrade or fall back to screen share. Have you tested any of these specifically on mobile checkout flows, or is desktop still where they perform best?
