With AD Audit, I can easily find information about users who deleted or moved files or folders on our main 39TB file server through the web interface. Before this, I had to keep searching for this log in the Event Viewer. Here, I have a graphical interface to perform searches without having to hunt log by log in the Windows Event Viewer. I really like ManageEngine ADAudit Plus for its super easy and idiot-proof UI/UX. The simple aesthetics, easy-to-pull-out menus, clear workflows, and easy investigation make it comfortable for junior administrators. It's also cost-effective and stands out as a premium Make In India product. The initial setup was very easy, seamless, and had no downtime, definitely a 10/10 experience for me. I also find the identity management features like AD Management, ID Federation, cleanup tools for aging IDs, and password management very convenient. ManageEngine ADAudit Plus has plenty of room for improvement. It's not yet a full-blown Identity Management Solution. I wish it had AI-based prediction of ID abuse. It could be better at connecting to other enterprise systems using Microsoft Credentials and logging those activities both internally and externally, including on the cloud. The lack of SSO and MFA is also something that could be improved. Right now, it's pretty tied to just Microsoft products, but as LDAP evolves to the cloud, the product should be future-proof for cloud logins, social logins, SSO, and MFA. What I like best about ManageEngine ADAudit Plus is the ability to quickly pull many different types of reports and easily find the information we need when conducting investigations. One area I would like to see improved in ManageEngine ADAudit Plus is the reporting around Microsoft 365/O365. While the tool is very useful for Active Directory auditing and investigations, the available O365 reports feel more limited compared to what is available for on-premise AD. The ease of initial setup and the reports that can be generated from it are what drove me to want to use it initially. It has so many features that can be used and the setup can be very complex if you really want to dive in, but the nice thing is that it can be done over time. The initial setup to get it reporting and allowing you to make changes from it are very easy and quick. I have had very few issues with it and when I did have to reach out to support, they were very helpful. Quick to respond and answered all my questions. Honestly, I really like ManageEngine ADAudit Plus because it takes all those massive, impossible-to-read server logs and actually makes sense of them. It constantly keeps an eye on Active Directory, so if someone starts failing a bunch of logins, deleting a ton of files, or messing with admin privileges, I get an email or text alert right away. It also saves a massive amount of headaches when audit time rolls around, since it has hundreds of built-in reports ready to go for compliance stuff like HIPAA or GDPR. Basically, it gives me one simple dashboard to see exactly who is doing what, meaning I don't have to waste time writing manual scripts just to figure out what's going on in our network. it’s not completely perfect and there are a few quirks you just have to work around. For starters, because it catches everything, you really have to spend some time fine-tuning the alerts, otherwise your inbox will get absolutely flooded with routine notifications and false alarms. It’s also a bit of a storage hog; holding onto all those detailed logs means the database can grow huge pretty quickly, so you definitely need to keep an eye on your server space. The dashboard gets the job done, but the interface can feel a little clunky and dated compared to some of the newer, sleeker tools out there. Lastly, as your network grows and you need to monitor more servers, the licensing costs can start to add up, but once you have it all dialed in, those trade-offs are usually pretty manageable. One other thing I'd love to see improved is the scheduled report setup. Creating or updating scheduled reports isn't as intuitive as the rest of the product, and it's one of those things that takes more clicks and trial-and-error than it should for a tool you rely on regularly.
