The database structure makes it easy for everyday users to gather and parse data to make good business decisions. Second, the on-premise software can be customized without compromising the integrity of the core product. This makes it extremely useful for unique business environments. **What do you dislike about M1 ERP?** The cloud-based version limits the ability to customize the software for your business' unique situation. **Recommendations to others considering M1 ERP:** As with any software purchase and implementation, your experience will be best if you understand your current business processes well. **What problems is M1 ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have built on M1's CRM by customizing it to accommodate our project-based sales team. (Most CRM's including M1's assume that a "lead" is the same as a person. In our business, we are identifying construction projects that might use our product. The person shows up much later in the process.) We have had great success in using M1 this way. Because M1 covers all aspects of our business, we use it to track every activity from the moment we identify a project in our sale effort to the moment we ship the last piece for that project. It makes everything very transparent and movement between departments is so much easier with this program than the multiple programs we used before. I love that everything can also be paperless. It makes life so much more simple! **What do you dislike about M1 ERP?** For our company we don't currently have anyone who knows how to write code so we have to pay for the customizations we get. Our company does entire sales orders as jobs so that can also be a bit cumbersome for clocking in and out of jobs for shop floor entry. **Recommendations to others considering M1 ERP:** I would say to talk to other users especially in your industry if you can. See how they use it. What customizations they have had to do, etc. **What problems is M1 ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's a seamless process from purchasing to receiving to paying bills. The same goes for quote to cash. It's a very simple and easy process. We've found tracking our inventory is easier with M1 also. ### 8. S. | President & CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2020 **What do you like best about M1 ERP?** Having changed ERP systems several times, I understood all too clearly the amount of software modifications we would need to make to accommodate our needs. ECI M1's beautifully designed relational data base, easily accessible and complete data dictionary, Design Studio for both forms and code, ease of making additions and changes to tables, and--when you get in trouble--access to software support made the change as painless as possible. Data Manager, which allowed us to download date from files in our old system to excel files, then upload that data into M1s table configurations, virtually eliminated the task of data transfer. We made the transfer over a weekend and were up and running on Monday! **What do you dislike about M1 ERP?** Upgrading from version 8 to version 9 proved to be much more complicated and time consuming than expected. While the pure M1 changes upgraded without issue, much of the customized tables and code required a lot of time to repair and return to the same level of functionality. Many customized forms and reports failed; some of these needed to be rewritten entirely. The change to a .net framework scrambled forms that had been set up to optimize workflows. While version 8 was supported by thorough and complete user guides; version 9 was not. Forms flow changed totally without support of tutorials showing how to restore the customized forms to your preferred settings without giving up access to many of the desired features of the new framework. **What problems is M1 ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Working within M1's software we were able to remove virtually all paper, leaving only a single job traveler sheet that accompanies the job as required by ISO 9000. We are able to mine our data easily using the Query Tool and very simple SQL scripts. Software encompasses all of our business from quote to payment. The software is easily customized which makes it taylored to our unique business. **What do you dislike about M1 ERP?** I don't like that they took away the red button in V9 or that the pop up messages stopped in V9. **Recommendations to others considering M1 ERP:** If you are in manufacturing, definitely an asset. **What problems is M1 ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are capturing all of our billings for what was shipped. M1 helps to track the flow product in the entire supply chain, from the purchasing to the shipping passing by inventory, production and scheduling. **What do you dislike about M1 ERP?** Too much customization can be harmful at the same time, especially when doing a migration. it has to be well managed and need closed support by M1 specialists. **Recommendations to others considering M1 ERP:** If you want user friendly ERP, easy to customize and supported by professional support techniciens, M1 is the right choice. **What problems is M1 ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Faster transactions. better and clear access to important data up to date. It’s coordinated functions make using it very blissful. We use M1 mostly to ship our products and I love the fact that we can track our deliveries. I also love the fact that M1 ensures on time delivery of products. It has a wide range features among them including accounting management and forecasting. M1 is absolutely secure and you don’t have to worry about the safety of your shipment. **What do you dislike about M1 ERP?** I honestly have nothing I dislike about M1. **Recommendations to others considering M1 ERP:** I would highly recommend M1 to anyone. **What problems is M1 ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We’ve been able to save on time used to deliver products. Difficult to change revisions after job has been created. **Recommendations to others considering M1 ERP:** Restrict the data entry to a small trained team. Otherwise, you get all kinds of inconsistencies and errors. **What problems is M1 ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Consolidate P.O. Entry and tracking, job set up, shop floor entries, and shipping/receiving data entry.
