"Linux Mint is the perfect alternative OS to Windows"
What do you like best about Linux Mint?

Mint was designed as a desktop environment as an analog to MS Windows. Much of the user interface was put together with that in mind. Previous windows users will find a transition from Windows to Mint to be pretty intuitive and user friendly. The installation processes walks you right through and being linux, it runs fantastically on machines with older hardware. It's a great way to give some additional life to your machine.

Being Linux, Mint still has all the supreme functionality, security and performance that you would expect from Linux. You just get it in a prettier package.

The software is opensource and free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

The real downside is that to get the most of it you'll want to learn to use the Linux command line. Most everything the average user would want is in the User Interface somewhere, but Linux often requires the install or configuration of things that are better done through a terminal window.

I personally don't see that as a downside, but trying to get my wife or grandma to do it is another story.

Aside from that, there is basically no product support. In general you are on your own to search the web and solve problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Mint and simplifying Linux"
What do you like best about Linux Mint?

My favorite part about Linux mint is that it takes the effort to make the system more approachable, taking into consideration that the average user is most familiar with windows. I also have to appreciate that it is open source, and also provides one of the best software managers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

The most notable disadvantages are its lack of a device manager, its tendency to not keep up with new technologies and implementations and that even if it is based on Ubuntu, it doesn't keep up with its latest updates and being so different makes it so that not everything that works in one may work in the other Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Mint is the best distro for linux"
What do you like best about Linux Mint?

Linux mint is a light distro on Linux and provides everything you need from an operating system. Linux mint has a software app store from which you can download the tools or software required and also provides some essential apps inbuilt like music and video player, text editor, system diagnostics tools, etc etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

While Linux mint is great for day-to-day use, the primary thing that I dislike about mint is that the UI for Bluetooth devices is not that great, and you have to use the terminal every time you want to connect to Bluetooth devices which can be troublesome to non linux users. * It runs on lower spec hardware than Windows 10.

* Most of the applications I use are included in the Linux Mint distro, and are updated automatically.

* Chrome/Chromium and Firefox browsers, Thunderbird email client and Rednotebook are included in the installation.

* Based on Ubuntu Linux, so there is plenty of documentation for compatible packages.

* Simple installation process for Linux Mint that can overwrite Windows, or coexist with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

* SAS software is available for Linux Mint, but is more expensive to licence than on Windows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Compatible with old PC and Debian"
What do you like best about Linux Mint?

Linux Mint is designed for low and high-PC users; it has three flavors available on the official website to download and install immediately without manually modifying the system.

Mint is capable of compiling software from other services, and the Cinnamon version is the most stable for a PC today. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

Linux Mint has lost qualities regarding the use of low-resource PCs, it needs more and more, and the use of the HDD is inefficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
