Its setup is intuitive and fast; call quality is optimal with no noticeable interference or delays. ### 12. The best SIP client for Ubuntu tried so far, with very high-quality audio and FHD video calls.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Linphone?**

A SIP client like Linphone I had never seen before, the configuration and previous installation occur in just a few seconds directly from the Ubuntu APT package manager, the wizard is able to guide the user in creating a Linphone account or configuring an existing SIP account to register with a PBX (in my case corporate), it allows simultaneous multi-account access and audio and video calls use quality codecs capable of supporting HQ voice and full HD video if allowed by the camera and network, stable in call and allows the use of SIP transfer and call conference.

**What do you dislike about Linphone?**

It is slow in registering with outdated Call Managers like the Cisco legacy CUCM. I don't know who is causing the problem, but it seems to attempt SIP registration multiple times and negotiate codecs that work for both.

**Recommendations to others considering Linphone:**

Remember to install it from the official APT repository available for both Debian and Ubuntu, as the versions on the official website are outdated and not fully compatible with the webcam kernel drivers to support full HD video.

**What problems is Linphone solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personally, I had compatibility issues with the official client called Ekiga, which is distributed for corporate desk-to-desk calls. I found Linphone to be a very valid and better alternative, fully compatible with Ekiga and with our PBX to achieve the same results.

  ### 13. Does the job of SIP phone

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

Saves so much time, registering multiple sip extensions on Linphone and quickly register to them. The mobile app is also nice to use.

**What do you dislike about Linphone?**

UI can be more user friendly and a bit refreshing. Currently it is hard to set up for a new user.

**Recommendations to others considering Linphone:**

It is a great tool to which is free to use and open source for VoIP and SIP calls, you gotta give it some time.

**What problems is Linphone solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We mainly use it for testing purpose with a call center dialer software and it saves so much time for testing than registering extension manually.
