## Liberica JDK Reviews
  ### 1. Optimized and Powerful for Java Microservices

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Albert G. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Liberica JDK?**

I like that Liberica JDK is a very powerful, lightweight image optimized for Spring Boot. It’s the best distroless base image we’ve used, and it’s also lightweight because it takes up little space in our Artifactory and is easy to migrate. I appreciate that it’s updated to LTS versions of Java, and I find it easy to use. Plus, the initial setup was very easy—I just had to change the base image.

**What do you dislike about Liberica JDK?**

Maybe they should offer more support, but overall I haven't had any trouble reaching out to the support team

**What problems is Liberica JDK solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liberica JDK is lightweight and optimized for Spring Boot, making it easy to use across multiple services. It provides a distroless base image optimized for Java, and it’s easy to migrate, helping to streamline our Artifactory.

  ### 2. Seamless Docker Integration, Unmatched Performance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Renaldas s. | Archyvaras, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Liberica JDK?**

I mostly use Liberica JDK for all my backend Java development. It's honestly a no-brainer—lightweight, stable, and makes containerizing my apps a breeze. The performance is top-notch, and I've literally had zero issues since making the switch, making my job life way easier. The biggest problem it solves is bloated container sizes and slow deployments; switching to Liberica's JDK builds shrinks them down drastically. It saves space and makes scaling up way faster. I definitely like the painless Docker integration and how lightweight it is. It plays incredibly well with Spring Boot, making the container images tiny, and it runs perfectly on both my local ARM Mac and our cloud servers without weird cross-platform hiccups. The Docker integration is flawless, especially for a Spring Boot dev, and Liberica being the default runtime recommended by the Spring team means it plays perfectly with standard cloud-native buildpacks. I also use it with Testcontainers for integration testing, and it handles everything like a champ. The initial setup was super easy by just switching the local project SDK to Liberica in IntelliJ IDEA and updating the base image tag in our Dockerfiles. For anyone doing Spring Boot or Docker work, I'd recommend it to any colleague without hesitation!

**What do you dislike about Liberica JDK?**

There's really not much to complain about since it just works. If I had to pick something to improve, maybe the explanation for beginners on which version to actually download could be a bit clearer. Just adding a simple wizard or a quick 'if you are building, X download Y' guide for specific developer use cases would make jumping in completely frictionless.

**What problems is Liberica JDK solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Liberica JDK for backend Java development. It solves bloated container sizes and slow deployments by drastically reducing Docker image sizes, saving space and speeding up scaling. Its lightweight nature and flawless Docker integration make my workflow simpler and more efficient.

  ### 3. Effortless to Use in Docker and CI/CD

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Liberica JDK?**

I use Liberica JDK mainly for my Spring Boot services, and I find that building and deployments work smoothly for my apps. I really like how straightforward it is to use in Docker environments and CI/CD pipelines. By using Liberica JDK, I can run my Java app in testing, staging, and production, and it behaves the same way everywhere, which is super convenient. Plus, the initial setup was very simple and straightforward. I use it with GitLab CI and GitHub Actions.

**What do you dislike about Liberica JDK?**

The thing that didn't work as well for me is not the SDK itself, it is the hesitation and extra validation that is required so my team would switch from other SDKs they are used to.

**What problems is Liberica JDK solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Liberica JDK ensures smooth building and deployments for my apps, and it's straightforward to use in Docker environments, CI/CD pipelines. It allows my Java app to behave consistently across testing, staging, and production.

  ### 4. Java SE support, done right!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tres F. | Owner and Lead Developer of QZ Industries, LLC, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Liberica JDK?**

Knowledge, friendliness, perseverance. The team at BellSoft has a knack for finding and fixing bugs, especially those that other providers classify as "won't fix" or "not our bug". We've been fighting bugs in the 2D graphics and printing APIs and other JDK support providers fell flat. Furthermore, BellSoft has been in the industry for long enough that they're also quick to offer adjacent industry advice, such as help with bundling a JDK for distribution.

**What do you dislike about Liberica JDK?**

The only downside to using a 3rd-party for JDK support is getting buy-in from upstream. This is NEVER the fault of BellSoft and BellSoft goes above and beyond to be responsive and complaint to upstream needs.

**What problems is Liberica JDK solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to onboarding with BellSoft, our company struggled with mediocre product support. BellSoft provides a reliable, stable signed JDK runtime image that can be bundled with our product and deployed to hundreds of thousands of workstations.

  ### 5. Reliable, lightweight, and ready for Java 24 in production

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denis C. | Software Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Liberica JDK?**

We use bellsoft/liberica-runtime-container:jre-24-slim-glibc as the base image for our Spring Boot microservices. The small image size helps us keep containers efficient, and it works reliably across all our services in production.
We've had a smooth experience running Java 24, everything just works out of the box. It's reassuring to have a JDK that stays up to date with the latest versions without adding complexity to our build or deployment process.
Security updates are delivered in sync with OpenJDK releases, which allows us to apply patches promptly and stay compliant with internal security requirements.
If you're running Java in containers and care about performance, reliability, and staying current, Liberica JDK is a solid choice.

**What do you dislike about Liberica JDK?**

So far, we haven't encountered any issues - it has worked reliably in our setup.

**What problems is Liberica JDK solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liberica JDK gives us a stable and secure Java runtime for running containerized Spring Boot microservices. It reduces image size, simplifies updates, and keeps us current with the latest Java versions.

  ### 6. Seamless migration, reliable in production, perfect for Spring Boot

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam B. | Backend Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Liberica JDK?**

We use Liberica JDK as the base for our Spring Boot buildpack-based Docker images across more than 70 services. It’s been stable and reliable in production. The migration from Zulu JDK was smooth, and we haven’t encountered a single compatibility issue. It’s easy to use, well-supported by the Spring ecosystem, and integrates flawlessly with the Spring Boot Maven plugin.

**What do you dislike about Liberica JDK?**

Honestly, there’s nothing we dislike about Liberica JDK. It’s stable, reliable, and just works. What’s surprising is how few developers seem to know that Spring Boot recommends it by default. It deserves more attention, considering how well it performs in production.

**What problems is Liberica JDK solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To be fair, we didn’t have a major problem that Liberica JDK had to solve. We simply needed a stable, supported JDK that works well with Spring Boot and containerized builds. Liberica became the default when we switched to buildpacks, and since then it’s done exactly what we needed: stayed out of the way. No surprises, no compatibility issues — and that’s exactly what we want from our JDK.

  ### 7. Perfect JDK for JavaFX Applications with Seamless GraalVM Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Liberica JDK?**

I like Liberica JDK bacause of the JavaFX and support of GraalVM. I used it to develop and distribute an educational desktop application for our client. No need to add extra dependencies to client projects. Moreover, thanks to Liberica NIK with JavaFX support, I was able to integrate GraalVM Native Image

**What do you dislike about Liberica JDK?**

So far, I haven't encountered any issues when using Liberica JDK and Liberica NIK across multiple client projects.

**What problems is Liberica JDK solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liberica solves the complexity of getting JavaFX and GraalVM to work together reliably. Instead of piecing together different components and dealing with version conflicts, I get everything I need from one vendor. This integrated solution saves hours of setup time per project and ensures our client applications deploy consistently across different environments.

**What do you dislike about Liberica JDK?**

The product worked well for my needs and as such we have no complaints. I would imagine a larger deployment would carry concerns, but our office is happy

**What problems is Liberica JDK solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liberica JDK solved the problem of not using a proprietary Java Virtual Machine. This is a hot topic these days and we were able to successful report to our compliance team we are within company guidelines.
