The intuitive ease of use in preparing tax returns. The product was promoted as being designed to be task specific. We used it for Form 990 and Form 990-T preparation and this was our first year using it. It could not have gone smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are schedules and footnotes across several state tax returns that are not currently available in K-1x. The work around was to separately prepare the schedules and footnotes and attach to the returns as pdfs. The tax input wording in K1X is the same wording used on tax forms, making it very easy to use and understand. The software is very user friendly, and the customer service support representatives are friendly, helpful, and receptive to making improvements to software based on your feedback. K1X provides an online training certification, which is new this year, and other occasional training is provided periodically for no charge. In addition, tax instructions and other helpful data are provided within the software itself. K1X has the Alternative Investment Module which has many foreign forms available, but not all. They are relatively a young company but are committed to adding more forms into their software and providing other enhancements each year. One of the best things about the alternative investment module is that you have all the historical data in one place, with NOL carryovers and much data that carryover each year with the rollovers. I like K1x for its simplicity and how everything is in one place, making it very straightforward to use. The support system is excellent; I'm able to contact them and receive an immediate response, which is very helpful as they usually guide me on how to fix any issues, often pointing out that the problem was on my end. I appreciate that they understand the tax laws well, particularly for a business supporting nonprofits and trusts, and they easily guide me through any problems by pointing to relevant rules or instructions. Additionally, they often show me things I wasn't aware of, demonstrating a profound understanding of their field. I find that the diagnostic feature in K1x could use improvement. The diagnostics sometimes incorrectly indicate mismatches between schedules, which can be frustrating. Even though I have the option to override these alerts, I rely heavily on accurate diagnostics to identify issues in tax returns because I work independently before senior management review. It is important to me that the diagnostics reliably identify real discrepancies rather than presenting non-existent ones. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There is room for improvement in how K1x reads State K-1s, but the software has already improved over the last few months. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The software is much more user friendly than it's competitors with easy naviagation, the option save all changes made automatically and the ease of importing and exporting data. As it's been around for not as long as it's competitor's, K1x is constantly growing, adding more features. We have ran into a few situations where K1x didn't have the compatiability for a specific form. However, the team is great to work with and everytime we point something like this out, they work tirelessly to help integrate these forms into the software! I use C-Trac to file 4 990s every year along with 990-Ts. I do not ever have problems with the program. In 2023 I did not contact support even one time. Previously when we had a problem, it was addressed in less than 1 hour and we were back up and running. I highly recommend K1x and C-Trac.
