I find K1x incredibly useful for handling investment partnerships. It makes inputting K-1s super easy, which saves me a lot of time. The ability to import directly into our tax software after we're done is a big plus. I particularly like the import functionality, as being able to import and export from the software makes it incredibly easy to work on clients that receive a lot of K-1s. The support team is very responsive whenever I encounter an issue. I find the accuracy in data extraction particularly reliable. The automatic saving feature is a great convenience since there's no need to manually press save. It simplifies tying out complex returns and significantly saves time. The state reports aren't as accurate as the federal reports, and K1x doesn't pull the adjustments in correctly for state or doesn't pick up every adjustment. The product was promoted as being designed to be task specific. We used it for Form 990 and Form 990-T preparation and this was our first year using it. It could not have gone smoother. The work around was to separately prepare the schedules and footnotes and attach to the returns as pdfs. What problems is K1x solving and how is that benefiting you? Our third party accounting firm was the conduit through which we accessed K-1x. Our greatest benefit was the time saving in the review process. Since the platform instantaneously updates the tax returns, there is less back and forth, and NO delay, in the preparation through final approved tax return process. The tax input wording in K1X is the same wording used on tax forms, making it very easy to use and understand. The software is very user friendly, and the customer service support representatives are friendly, helpful, and receptive to making improvements to software based on your feedback. K1X provides an online training certification, which is new this year, and other occasional training is provided periodically for no charge. In addition, tax instructions and other helpful data are provided within the software itself. I've used several tax compliance software programs throughout my career, but K1X is truly superior and more user friendly than others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about K1x? K1X has the Alternative Investment Module which has many foreign forms available, but not all. They are relatively a young company but are committed to adding more forms into their software and providing other enhancements each year. One of the best things about the alternative investment module is that you have all the historical data in one place, with NOL carryovers and much data that carryover each year with the rollovers. They keep adding various modules that provide additional information and support, some of which I have not been able to take advantage of yet but hope to try this tax year. They provide Excel templates that can be added and linked to existing Excel workpapers, then uploaded into K1X with a click of a button, eliminating the need of duplicating data input! Their diagnostics and e-file validation checks help eliminate e-file errors ahead of time which help make e-filing process go smootly. I like K1x for its simplicity and how everything is in one place, making it very straightforward to use. The support system is excellent; I'm able to contact them and receive an immediate response, which is very helpful as they usually guide me on how to fix any issues, often pointing out that the problem was on my end. I appreciate that they understand the tax laws well, particularly for a business supporting nonprofits and trusts, and they easily guide me through any problems by pointing to relevant rules or instructions. Additionally, they often show me things I wasn't aware of, demonstrating a profound understanding of their field. This responsiveness and expertise make me confident in saying they are very on top of their game. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about K1x? I find that the diagnostic feature in K1x could use improvement. The diagnostics sometimes incorrectly indicate mismatches between schedules, which can be frustrating. Even though I have the option to override these alerts, I rely heavily on accurate diagnostics to identify issues in tax returns because I work independently before senior management review. K1x allows us, as an internal tax team, to switch from compiling data from hundreds of K1s to reviewing the accuracy of the data from hundreds of K1s.
