Our organization has used Jetico BCWipe since 2015 as a core tool for securely wiping sensitive data. From both a security and system administration perspective, BCWipe has consistently proven reliable and well aligned with recognized data-sanitization standards used in enterprise environments.
BCWipe supports wiping methods that align with Canadian data sanitization guidance, including CSE IT Media Sanitization (ITSP.40.006 v2) and the earlier CSEC ITSG‑06, while also remaining compatible with legacy practices such as RCMP TSSIT OPS‑II when required. This helps ensure data is truly sanitized rather than simply deleted, reducing data remanence and the risk of forensic recovery, and it also supports audit and compliance requirements. While the interface is fairly intuitive and functional for my needs, especially since I’ve gotten used to it over the years, it could still be improved because the reporting and configuration areas can feel less intuitive for new administrators.
Although logs are available, the report formatting is very technical and not very user-friendly for non-technical stakeholders.
The command-line and automation features are quite good, but the initial setup can be painful and time-consuming for first-time users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
