**What do you like best about Jamf?**

JAMF offers an array of feature-rich products that are straightforward to configure and deploy. I also really appreciate that JAMF supports Apple’s new features even before they’re officially released. That gives us time to identify and test the impact of upcoming changes and prepare well in advance of an upgrade. On top of that, their customer support is the best I’ve experienced from any software company I’ve worked with.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Nothing! I haven't had a bad experience with Jamf.

**Recommendations to others considering Jamf:**

Compare the other vendors who have similar products and choose the one that will best suit your needs. However, you will not find a better Mac Management tool on the market or a company with better customer support.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our school district uses iPads for our 1:1 program. Each student has an iPad, every teacher has an iPad and a MacBook, our high school libraries have iMacs, we have six Mac labs, and every classroom has an Apple TV—all managed with Jamf Pro. Altogether, this adds up to more than 15,000 devices that we manage. With just one Jamf administrator, we’re able to manage all of these devices in Jamf Pro effectively and in a timely manner. Without Jamf, we wouldn’t be able to support our staff and students as effectively and efficiently as we do.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I like the ease of use that Jamf offers, and how they work closely with Apple to keep their product as up-to-date with the OS as possible, making it ready to deploy as soon as new OS updates arrive. I also appreciate their addition of other services like Jamf Protect and Jamf Connect that enhance our management capabilities. Furthermore, the setup was fairly easy, and the onboarding support we purchased was really nice and helpful, with a great trainer.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I wish that the Jamf accounts and products were all synced together into one console. It would also be nice to see the AI assistant within Jamf offer best practices and direction when building workflows, policies, profiles, and blueprints.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jamf to manage Apple devices effortlessly, deploying apps, updates, and security policies. It streamlines device configuration with profiles, policies and the App stores (Apple and Jamf), ensuring compliance and security. I appreciate Jamf's close collaboration with Apple, ensuring it's up-to-date with OS updates and ready to use.

  ### 3. Jamf Pro is great and getting better

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

Jamf Pro is easy to use, yet extensible and flexible. It makes it easy to manage 10-10,000 devices! Most importantly, Jamf Pro was/is developed with Apple products, and for Apple products. Jamf also doesn't outsource support, it is done in house. Response times when dealing with support have been excellent. This is one of my biggest issues with other vendors. The product is only as good as the service backing it. Jamf is all over it, and they are ready when new iOS features are released by Apple out of the gate

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

While Jamf has been a fantastic partner for managing our Mac fleet, there are a handful of areas where I'd love to see it grow:
* The learning curve is real. Jamf Pro is incredibly powerful, but new admins can feel a bit overwhelmed at first. More guided onboarding inside the console would go a long way.
* The interface shows its age in spots. Some screens feel modern and polished, while others feel like they're from an earlier era. A more consistent UI would make daily work even smoother.
* App Catalog coverage keeps improving, but has gaps. I still lean on Installomator for titles that aren't in the catalog yet. I'm excited to see the library keep expanding!
* Keeping up with identity changes takes effort. With Platform SSO evolving alongside Jamf Connect, clearer guidance on when to use which would really help admins plan their path forward.
* Two APIs can be confusing. Juggling the Classic API and the Jamf Pro API adds friction for scripting and automation. A fully unified API would be a welcome milestone.
* Pricing can be a stretch for smaller teams, though the value it delivers is hard to argue with.
None of these take away from how much Jamf simplifies our zero-touch onboarding and day-to-day management. They're more like a wish list from a happy customer who wants to see a great product get even better.

**Recommendations to others considering Jamf:**

Jamf Pro offers one of the best "out of box" experiences in my opinion around Apple device management. I would suggest going through the official training if possible however, and having someone on staff certified depending on your businesses size.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I image Mac's, manage and update software, and control security settings. I've come to value how well JAMF Pro works for enforcing security policies and restrictions across a wide variety of devices.

  ### 4. JAMF Pro has been the best management solution tool for my company. It made work so much easier.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

That it built for Apple products. Its hard to find software that works almost 100% of the time for Apple products. But JAMF is the answer to that problem.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I think more focus should be on the patch reporting and allowing us to customize our own reports uniquely based on our environment. This will allow us to deliver personal reports that might be needed for delay task.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralize Management is big at my organization and having a tool that Control all our Apple Products but also be able to patch them mostly hassle free is a blessing within itself.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I like how Jamf Pro provides complete visibility and control over all Apple devices in our environment. It streamlines deployment, configuration, and compliance management while keeping the user experience seamless.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Jamf Pro works great for device management, but I wish the dashboard and reporting tools were a bit more intuitive for non-technical staff. Some settings require admin-level access even for basic classroom tasks.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf Pro helps us centrally manage student and teacher devices, ensuring that everyone has the right apps and settings from day one. It reduces classroom downtime and gives IT the ability to support devices remotely, improving learning continuity and security.

  ### 6. Jamf Pro is the choice if IT dept could choose. And surprisingly, also if the end user could choose.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

The preferred option I can recommend as a device management solution to deploy for a customer. Small or large amounts of devices, Jamf Pro scales very well.

Easy to maneuver interface. Easy to enroll devices, both using prestage zero touch enrollement, or user enrollment of devices already in use.

Zero touch enrollement leaves all the guesswork out for the end user, leaving more time for productivity within the first hour of turning on the new device or Mac(network speed and amount of software to roll out permitted). End users can get software directly distributed at setup or any time later, which is such a treat for IT used to image computers.

My favorite? SSO Kerberos extension distribution works really great, reducing time spent on logging into various web tools your organization use.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

For a novice user, you will want to either set aside quite some time to get to know the interface and advanced options well or bring in someone who does. Otherwise, you'll be left out of the more advanced (read: the best) capabilities of Jamf Pro.
Interface has a lot of space left over if used on a high-resolution screen/fullscreen browser window. On the other side, this also makes the interface less cluttered.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First time setup experience for end users is much better.
Rollout of the mentioned SSO extension solved a lot of login-issues. Time spent helping with end users not being able to do work has dramatically decreased.

  ### 7. Pro tools for Education and excellent support

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

Expert support never leaves you behind. The support at Jamf is amazing. If you ever have a question either submit a ticket or ask the Jamf Nation community which is amazing too! I don't ever feel like I'm out in the forest. I can always count on assistance when I need it. I also like how simple Jamf has made the layout. Everything is streamlined and makes sense. If you are a new user or an expert user it couldn't be easier to be productive and manage a small number of devices or a gigantic enterprise.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Client list could be more extensive. I still haven't figured out how to delete multiple clients at once when computers are retired. Patch management could be more user friendly and provide support for automating more software updates like Microsoft Office, Adobe Flash, Google Chrome and more. It's a pain to have to find the update files and register them on your server and setup a deployment plan. I wish you could just schedule an automatic deployment rule.

**Recommendations to others considering Jamf:**

Make sure to take the time to setup your base deployment before pushing out any deployment to your devices. Have a plan and take advantage of Jump Start.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf Pro has made our support of Mac computers easy to manage. Updating software and self service make it so easy for our users to use their computers without having to contact Helpdesk for support.

  ### 8. Managing Macs is suddenly easier than managing Windows

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I love the amount of customization that Jamf Pro provides, and how, once groups are established, most things just work. Ever since using Apple School Manager along with Jamf, the control we have is extremely granular, hands-off, and applies quickly. When we receive a new computer, we can have it fully set up and ready for the end user in under twenty minutes, with very little work from our techs. Being able to use custom triggers and call those triggers from another script leads to very controlled and predictable workflows. Jamf customer support is fantastic, too. They always respond quickly and teach me how to better use the product.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Most of my complaints about Mac management have to do with Apple, not Jamf Pro, such as how it's impossible to remotely allow screen recording for classroom computers.

For Jamf though, the only thing that bothers me is that I can't "push a script" in the same way that I can on Windows. It's a little frustrating to be on the phone with a customer and say, "I've scoped you to a policy that should fix this. Wait fifteen minutes and call me back." "It's been two hours and you still can't work? Oopsie, guess I'll head over in person." I wish there were a management command that triggered a "jamf policy" check.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Almost every aspect of Mac management is covered by Jamf Pro. Remote access and privilege elevation aren't quite there yet, but having so much control over configuration and policies is fantastic. Before Jamf, we couldn't imagine a world where managing Macs was easier than PCs, but now that's a reality. We're deploying Macs quickly and keeping a great user experience.

  ### 9. Robust Platform that Simplifies End User and Mac Admin Experience

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I love that Jamf Pro allows us to easily set up, configure, and deploy our Apple devices, making what used to be complicated processes easier for our users. I appreciate the robust app and hardware inventory reports, which make it easy to identify apps that need patching and track aging devices. The fact that it is cloud-based is a big plus, unlike our Windows team, which is still domain-bound. Also, the ease of creating Self Service entities offers endless possibilities for customization. The onboarding process was super easy, largely thanks to a great individual who tailored it to our needs.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The support has changed and it isn't efficient to have to talk to an AI bot before being able to submit a ticket. Most Jamf Admins are well-versed in research and using resources like Jamf Nation and Slack, so by the time we need to contact support, we want to just put in our issue or ticket without having an AI bot troubleshoot again. Also, it is not integrated with any of our other services.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf simplifies setting up, configuring, and deploying Apple devices, and streamlines complex processes with ease. I value the robust app and hardware inventory reports, making device management straightforward. The cloud-based nature of Jamf and its flexible Self Service options offer endless possibilities.

  ### 10. JAMF Pro in Higher Ed

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

Jamf Pro has made it easy to manage and deploy apple workstations in a higher Ed university setting. I am able to track inventory, push packages, and run important policies to keep my CISO happy. I especially like the Extended Attributes so I can run custom scripts to gather even more information about the devices across the university. This has been extremely helpful narrowing down which computers/laptop can upgrade to the latest OS, and which devices should be surplus as they no longer will be supported by Apple. Makes staying in a supported state much easier.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Main issue is JAMF is mainly for Apple, but definitely not a bad thing. Would have been nice to have cross platform options for windows devices over the same MDM.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mass deployment of software to all our manage devices. Currently working towards SSO and close to zero-touch and JAMF Pro gives plenty of resources to make that a possibility for our environment.

  ### 11. The de facto standard for enterprise management of the Apple ecosystem

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

General Overview
In today’s MDM landscape, Jamf Pro still stands out as the gold standard for managing macOS and iOS fleets at scale. Its close alignment with Apple guidelines, along with Day-0 support for each new major OS release, helps maintain operational continuity in a way few other platforms can truly match.

UI / UX
The administrative console comes with a steep learning curve for newcomers, but the payoff is substantial if you need deep, granular control. The separation between Configuration Profiles, Policies, and Extension Attributes is clear, clean, and modular. Scoping logic (inclusions, exclusions, and limitations) also enables extremely precise targeting, whether you’re applying changes across entire departments or narrowing it down to individual devices.

Workflow improvements
The ability to clone and parameterize policies can significantly reduce provisioning time. For end users, the Jamf Self Service portal turns onboarding and routine troubleshooting into a genuinely zero-touch experience, cutting L1 support tickets tied to software installs or resource access by up to 40%.

Integrations
Interconnectivity is one of Jamf’s strongest areas. With Apple Business Manager (ABM) paired with Automated Device Enrollment (ADE), you get a seamless out-of-the-box, zero-touch flow: unbox the Mac, connect to Wi‑Fi, and it configures itself automatically based on company policy. Integration with IdP and directory services is also smooth—Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta, and Jamf Connect work well for single sign-on (SSO) aligned with local macOS accounts, which helps streamline security compliance. On the automation side, the modern REST API (alongside the Classic API) supports advanced workflows via webhooks and Python/Zsh scripts, including integrations with external ITSM tools like ServiceNow and Jira Service Management, as well as custom internal CMDBs.

Performance
The macOS local daemon (jamf binary/agent) is robust, lightweight, and dependable when executing complex scripts and custom binaries through policies. Dynamic Smart Computer Groups driven by Extension Attributes remain highly responsive, even across fleets with thousands of active endpoints. Apple Push Notification service (APNs) integration also enables near-instant execution for remote locks, wipes, and critical payload deployments.

Support, Onboarding & Community
The ecosystem around the product is, in my view, one of its most underrated advantages. Jamf Nation is among the most active and collaborative technical communities in IT, with daily sharing of scripts, edge-case fixes, and code snippets. The official certification path (Jamf 100 through 400) provides a structured and effective roadmap for building in-house admin expertise. Direct support is also strong, with dedicated engineers who have deep platform knowledge—especially when working through complex issues tied to recent Apple API changes.

AI / Intelligence & Automation
Jamf’s approach to intelligent automation is most compelling across its security and telemetry stack. Advanced behavioral analysis and native macOS threat detection (via Jamf Protect) can accurately identify Apple-specific attack vectors without creating noisy false positives. On top of that, real-time telemetry and predictive compliance reporting help surface weak configurations and missing patches before they become critical security exposures.

Pricing & ROI
Licensing—particularly when bundled with Jamf Connect and Jamf Protect—sits firmly in the premium enterprise tier. Even so, the ROI feels immediate, largely due to the reduction in IT labor hours spent on manual provisioning and recurring maintenance. It also accelerates time-to-productivity for new hires, since devices can be fully functional from first boot without needing to pass through an IT bench.

Overall, Jamf Pro is a definitive choice for organizations that want to maximize security, automation, and user experience across Apple hardware while scaling an efficient infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The platform’s biggest drawback is its pricing, which some companies find too high. This can make it harder to position Jamf effectively.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf supports zero-touch remote management, letting me deploy configurations and maintain security baselines without needing any interaction from end users.

K-12 has limited resources to ensure that student and school staff member has a device that is maintained with current Apps, patches and secure. We could not accomplish that without JAMF Pro.

Can’t easily generate a list showing which devices are in a pre-stage enrollment.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Updates for testing.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

Jamf Pro is the metaphorical Cadillac of macOS device management - from a feature and supportability standpoint, it is untouchable by other products. For iOS/tvOS management, its functionality is similar to other MDM solutions - the real value is macOS device management. Some of the most powerful features for our organization include App Installers (Jamf packages 3rd party apps from vendors and code-signs them to be suitable for deployment via Jamf on all processor types), Restricted Software (prevent users or groups of users from accessing certain macOS applications by path, name of binary, etc.), and same-day compatibility with the latest macOS versions.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The real value of Jamf Pro is macOS device management, but it comes at a cost. In the public higher education industry, the pricing is right at our breaking point (but still worth it). As with anything, a steeper discount for higher education would be beneficial. In our experience, customer support is average (definitely not outstanding), although we only have the standard support agreement.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using App Installers, we can distribute available third-party macOS software titles from the Jamf App Catalog to target computers in a smart computer group and automatically keep the apps up to date. It eliminates the IT time required to manually monitor, package, and update apps, streamlining the application lifecycle management process. Restricted software allows us to prevent users or groups of users from accessing certain macOS applications (by path, name of binary, etc.). For each application we restrict, we can specify the users to which the restriction applies and control what happens when the application is opened by those users. For instance, we can kill the restricted process, delete the application, and even display a message to the user. Finally, we rest easy knowing that Jamf is ahead of the curve with same-day compatibility with the latest macOS versions. We are never surprised or caught offguard by new macOS features and are confident we will be able to manage them with Jamf in inline with our organization's needs.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I love the speed and power of the Jamf binary, which really stands out to me. The ability to integrate Jamf with our other systems via API is another highlight, as it allows us to automate and customize our tooling to suit our specific business needs. The documentation is thorough, making it easy to either build in-house solutions or find community-built tools we need, ensuring we can move quickly and safely. Also, migrating from on-prem to cloud was rather easy, which was a relief for us.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I think the UI around smart group criteria and scoping could really use some improvements. It's quite challenging to see and edit groups and scopes confidently because of the current setup. Specifically, when I'm trying to adjust smart group criteria, I can only add items to the end of the list, not insert them where I actually need them. This means I have to delete and recreate the criteria just to make a simple addition further up, which is a hassle. It would be great if I could insert or drag-and-drop criteria items to reorder them easily.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf helps us deploy software and settings quickly without disrupting users, manage devices efficiently, and integrate with our systems through APIs to automate processes, ultimately enhancing security and productivity.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I really like the Jamf dashboard because it provides so much information that helps me with basic troubleshooting, like checking uptime and disk space on a user's computer. Another thing I appreciate is how it's always gathering new information from end users, as long as they're connected, which makes a significant difference. I find it incredibly useful to search by username, computer name, or even just an IP address to find devices I'm looking for. Plus, Jamf is simple, so even junior techs can use it effectively.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I was just talking about this with the Jamf representatives that were here at JNUC. The number one issue that I have, and it is a very it's personal, but it's it means a bit it it's a lot. So in the Jamf dashboard, in the inventory display settings, you are not able to customize the order of the of the columns in which you would like them to be. It is a very simple option that lower level tools have. Jamf prides itself on being able to taylor the product to your needs. I feel that this is one part of the customization that Jamf has not listened to its customers. I have seen this feature request in the Jamf community for years & it hasn’t happened. I don’t know why they seem to resist this simple feature.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf helps me with basic troubleshooting by providing valuable information on things like uptime and disk space. It's great for searching devices with minimal information and is simple enough for junior techs. This ease helps solve issues like sluggishness and app installation problems.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I love Jamf's aggressive stance on adopting Apple's features, as they often support new features in management on day one. Their dedication to integrating Macs into enterprise environments by leveraging connections with Apple and Microsoft is impressive. The adoption of Declarative Device Management was a huge impact for us, making software updates go from patchy to relatively complete, and Jamf has supported this since Apple released it.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The user interface is dated, which is the downside of being such an established product. While Jamf emphasizes adding new features and capabilities quickly, the interface design has not kept up either aesthetically or in terms of ease of use. Although I appreciate that developer time isn't wasted on shiny interface stuff, it is time for a bit of polish and updating on the way Jamf is used by human admins accessing it through the web interface.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jamf to integrate MacOS into a Windows environment, ensure device security and compliance, and manage software updates reliably. Its early adoption of Apple's features enhances our enterprise use, making Macs functional business tools.

The added efficiency of managing and providing a common user experience across hundreds of macs with minimal effort on the part of help desk.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Managing app patches can be obnoxious. The need to upload new versions of each Office app is time consuming, the functionality looks great for custom apps, but can't be used for custom apps instead I find myself cacheing and uploading versions of publicly available apps.

Before jamf every mac took 2-3 hours to stage and we had no way to on-demand deliver software to co-workers

I appreciate the ability to push out configuration profiles at both user and computer levels, which streamlines management significantly. I value the partnership with Apple, which ensures updates are rolled out on day one, maintaining system security and efficiency. The integration with Cisco policies and inventory management enhances my operational workflow.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I initially found the setup of Jamf Pro difficult because I didn't know what I was doing. Although I received help to get started, the initial learning curve was quite steep.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jamf Pro to image devices and manage Apple TVs and iPads, ensuring they are secure. It simplifies managing configuration profiles and inventory, enhancing our operations.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I really like Jamf's user interface for how easy it is to use and how much I can accomplish with it. The security features are something I love, especially being able to lock down and block certain apps from being used. It's also super convenient to find apps for deployment from the App Store. Additionally, I find the different packages, computer groups, and policies invaluable for my work. Switching from Rippling to Jamf was a relief because the setup was easier than I expected.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I think when there are suggestions on changes to be made, if that was made a little bit faster, that would, for sure, help.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf solves device management issues and speeds up package deployment. Its UI makes it easy to use, and the security features allow precise app control. I find managing different packages and policies effective for department needs.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

The speed at which updates are sent from Jamf to the endpoint device - it is almost instantaneous, which makes publishing and testing changes a lot easier.<br><br>Before using Jamf I had no prior experience in it, the UI is intuitive, easy to use and things just work logically. I have been able to train other members of the team in using Jamf, alongside providing them with a Jamf sandbox to test, fail and learn in is another great point.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The support could be improved, we recently had an issue where blueprints were not being applied to our endpoints in our sandbox environment. We had to perform a lot of back and forth testing with Jamf, chasing them up and going through various escalations before a fix was found.<br><br>As a customer, having to chase up the vendor is frustrating - but also easily fixed.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We didn't have an MDM prior to Jamf, so being able to deploy Jamf to a previously unmanaged fleet has had a host of benefits, patching up to date, build uniformity, application allow and block lists, CIS level 1 controls, and a whole host more

  ### 21. Jamf Makes Apple Fleet Management Seamless with Self Service and Jamf Connect

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

After using Jamf across our Mac and iOS fleet for the past couple of years, it has completely changed how our company manages technology. Jamf Connect, in particular, integrates well with our enterprise authentication and creates an easy-to-understand login experience for all of our users.

Day to day, the standalone Jamf Self Service app is easily my favorite feature. It works like a private App Store where I can grab approved software, printer drivers, or even run quick self-fix scripts to clear app caches whenever Zoom or Slack acts up—all without needing admin rights or submitting a help desk ticket. And once everything is set up, Jamf mostly stays out of the way. System updates run smoothly in the background without freezing my machine, and same-day support for new macOS releases means I don’t have to delay upgrading my laptop just to get the latest features. After dealing with clunky, intrusive device management tools in the past, Jamf feels less like corporate monitoring and more like a seamless extension of the native Apple ecosystem.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

As someone who has spent years in the Jamf Nation community and manages Apple fleets day in and day out, I can say there are some very real platform headaches that come up again and again in our team discussions.

By far one of the most frustrating hard-coded “features” in daily use is how Jamf Pro handles web session timeouts. That strict 15-minute inactivity timer has been the bane of many admins’ existence, but the multi-tab behavior makes it even worse. If you’re working on a page—say, creating and scoping a print driver policy—and you step away or switch to another tab to focus on something else, the clock starts ticking. If that other tab sits untouched past the 15-minute mark, the moment you click back to it (even just to close it), it can invalidate the entire session and automatically log you out of the tab where you were actively working. Having active work wiped out simply because a background tab expired is a huge workflow disruption, and I’m sure most people using Jamf have run into it.

Beyond the session timer, there’s also the ongoing community talk about the “Jamf Ideas Void.” Jamf Nation is an incredible place for peer-to-peer troubleshooting, but the feature request pipeline can be deeply frustrating. Long-standing quality-of-life requests—like native tab isolation, more granular session management, or basic UI quality-of-life fixes—often sit heavily upvoted for years with little to no visible movement from product management.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In a higher education setting, Jamf helps us cut through the constant chaos of managing a wide mix of campus devices—from faculty laptops to research machines and student lab computers—by reducing manual staging, easing software patching fatigue, and supporting fleet-wide compliance. We’re currently in the process of transitioning to Jamf’s zero-touch deployment via Apple School Manager (ASM), which should completely transform our onboarding workflow. Rather than spending the entire year unboxing, imaging, and manually preparing incoming hardware, we could potentially ship brand-new, still-in-box Macs and iPads directly to professors, staff, or department labs. As soon as a user powers on the device and signs in with their campus credentials, Jamf can automatically push university Wi‑Fi profiles, security baselines, and required software packages—without IT ever having to physically handle the machine.

Beyond initial setup, Jamf also helps us streamline ongoing software management and security across campus without overloading our help desk technicians. Automated app packaging keeps commonly used tools up to date, while the custom-branded Jamf Self Service portal functions like an internal campus app store. This lets faculty and staff download department-approved software, map campus printers, or run self-help scripts to resolve minor glitches on their own. I also really appreciate the dynamic Smart Groups feature, which allows me to monitor device health across campus networks and automatically apply patches or enforce FileVault encryption when a device drifts out of compliance.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

The web console being a one-stop-shop to work on anything we need from anywhere with Jamf Cloud is fantastic. Touch-free deployment has been a game-changer that our users have absolutely loved.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I wish there were an option to create a custom privilege set which could be selected from the same dropdown as the default options of Admin/Auditor/Enrollment. The custom option is there but you have to manually select it each time. It would be great to not have to recreate those privileges each time we have a new AD group that needs access.

Prices have gone through the roof. A long-time, successful business relationship with our CSM was severed despite him still working at Jamf due to arbitrary changes. The personal touch has disappeared.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Macs were previously unsecured and not tracked. Jamf is helping us ensure all of our devices meet our security requirements, reducing risk and making our GSO happy. Jamf has also helped to reduce the number of Macs that go "missing" by ensuring we have visibility to which devices we have and when they go out of service. Autoremediation of issues saves time for our support and end-users.

I use Jamf Pro to automate updates and control our iPad kiosk fleet, which is incredibly helpful. I really like the auto-update feature and the single app mode for its ease of use and the heavy control it provides for our specific company needs. The scoping features are a standout because they allow us to define very specific profiles for each iPad, ensuring they are aligned just as we need them. The DDM feature keeps our iPads in specific alignment, which is really efficient. Additionally, I'm very pleased with their great customer service, which has been a big plus in our experience with the product.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Perhaps more inventory updates so we can get alerted more frequently about our smart groups. It took me about a month to get everything going the way we wanted it.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jamf to automate iPad kiosk updates, enabling single app mode and tailored control for our needs, keeping devices aligned and streamlining management.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I use Jamf to manage company MacBooks, and what I really like is how simple it makes managing policies. I can push out anything within minutes, whether it's a script, a single command, an app, or any change. It's also great because I can track the logs, see any errors, and even put things up on self-service. Jamf simplifies our onboarding process and allows us to comply with CIS benchmarks, keeping our devices secure.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The training courses are way too expensive. I wish they would make the training courses available for free online, then lock the certifications behind a paywall, and reduce the certification cost by at least 50%. The price far exceeds most learning budgets, Reducing it would allow way more people to learn the software and get certified; it seems the cost-to-demand ratio hasn't been found yet

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf simplifies our onboarding process, ensures compliance with CIS benchmarks, and enhances device security. It streamlines policy deployment, allowing us to distribute scripts, apps, and changes swiftly while tracking logs and errors effectively.

I like using Jamf because it's simple, fast, and effective. It really helps me manage our Mac estate of about 2600 MacOS devices. With Jamf, I can quickly deploy software and keep apps up-to-date, which is essential. It's also great for standardizing settings, security, and configuration across all devices. Additionally, the ability to pivot quickly to requests, resolve issues, or respond to security concerns is invaluable. Overall, it makes managing a large number of devices much more manageable.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Not all parts of the product can utilize or respect Sites. We have sites configured to manage different sets of devices with drastically different requirements and security implications.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jamf for deploying software and updating apps on 2600 macOS devices, ensuring standardized settings and security. It's simple, fast, and effective, allowing quick pivots for requests and security issues.

I appreciate the granularity that Jamf Pro offers, allowing me to deploy on a large scale or to specific individuals, which is crucial at an enterprise level. Setting it up was straightforward, aided by helpful guides and a supportive Mac admin community. The app installers and features like blueprints and declarative device management keep my fleet compliant efficiently. The support level and active community are impressive, making it significantly easier to find help and share experiences.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I would streamline feature requests more, along with certain support tasks, to make it easier to get in touch with people or obtain specific support. It can sometimes take a day or two to get support.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jamf Pro for device management, ensuring compliance with enterprise standards, and benefiting from granular deployment capabilities and robust community support.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I like that Jamf allows me to manage devices worldwide with instant speed. I find the UI easy to view, and it's straightforward to navigate through different categories on the left side, which makes it easy to access various parts of the software. Having history to verify that things are installed correctly is also valuable, and the blueprints for configuration are handy.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I think Jamf could improve in providing more details about DDM and blueprints. Currently, the visibility of the history of what blueprint has been deployed and if it was successfully deployed isn't easily tracked. It's something that seems to be in development, but having that kind of visibility would be helpful.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf solves device management challenges globally with instant speed and has an easy-to-view UI, making it simple to navigate and verify installations.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I like Jamf's interface and how easy it is to use. The modularity in managing various devices such as iPads, iPhones, desktops, and laptops is impressive. Jamf makes managing software upgrades, software distribution, and zero-touch deployments a breeze, and the setup was very easy. I appreciate that it's all set up with Jamf Cloud and ready to go from day one.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I find the search features in Jamf lacking, as they could be improved for better usability. Reporting on failed installations or configuration profiles isn't as good as it could be. When things go wrong with failed blueprints, I'd like deeper reporting. Just having more insight into these failures would be really helpful.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jamf to manage our entire Mac fleet, handle software upgrades, and ensure devices are patched and secure, reducing attack vectors.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Certain new features can be tricky to implement. We had a few issues with Self Service+ when we launched it, and it kinda messed up Jamf connect.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can track and manage our devices much easier than our Windows devices in the fleet. We love it for labs and how easy it is to control what apps are provided and how students log in

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Right now, the AI Assistant is falling short of what I’d expect. It crashes a lot and the performance has been inconsistent.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

It's head and shoulders the best MDM for Macs. There are tons of customization available between packages, profiles and scripts to install exactly what you want and how you want to. We use the API to integrate with our software ordering portal and hardware replacement automation workflow, saving technicians and end users hours of manual work. The new Blueprints let your drag and drop just the features you need to enforce. Our customer service team is very responsive and is always one call away.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Changes to the backend of Configuration Profiles to support new features and provide a better experience take a while to implement.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ensuring Macs are secure with our security software stack and that our MSB is enforced. This ensures our fleet is secure and we have an audit trail when issues do arise.

It's easy and logical, but you can also tweak it to do very advanced tasks. It's easy to see that Jamf Pro is developed by Apple lovers/users. The replication of commands is second to none.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The interface needs an update. Especially the Jamf admin and composer tool. Looking forward to device compliance in a better way than the old. Sometimes new features could have more in-depth documentation.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Happy customers and happy users. Easy to integrate with other management platforms and giving Apple users in enterprises the tools they need in a hectic environment.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I like how Jamf helps manage client Macs in a professional environment by removing a lot of manual work. The community around Jamf is a big plus for me, offering a sense of support and shared knowledge. I particularly love the blueprints feature, which feels like a lifesaver, especially for managing different site environments. Also, the initial setup of Jamf was very easy, which made the transition smooth for us.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I find the regular use of sites and the documentation problematic. It seems like there's room for improvement in how these features operate or are explained, which can make things a bit confusing at times.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jamf to manage client Macs, removing a lot of manual work and providing perfect blueprints for different site environments.

The ease of configuration, setup, and management of Apple devices. Moving from Intune to Jamf has made management as an IT admin much more streamlined. I also love the application catalog.

The non-customizable URL for our Jamf instance when opting into Elevate and having to manage multiple accounts in each product.

I love every bit of Jamf

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

Jamf Pro has been a great tool to learn as a fresh IT Support Specialist for my organization. Compared to other tools for device management for other operating systems, Jamf's interface has been easy to learn which gives me the confidence to seek a resolution to new technical issues with our Mac users.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Lately the server has been having issues and impacting performance, but that was temporary. Otherwise I can't think of anything I dislike at the moment.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recently Jamf Pro helped me deploy a special typeface designed to improve readability to dyslexic readers. I managed to deploy it as a system font and a Chrome extension across university campus to macOS devices.

  ### 40. A True One-Stop Shop for Device Management and Updates

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

The one stop shop aspect that allows me to query inventory, full management of my devices. Specifically keeping dashboards to monitor and push out updates, patches etc.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The search system seems unreliable. Often times I have to search for a device in multiple ways. (serial, hostname etc), one way may show no results while another will. Also, I rarely get a successful remote access acquisition of a device. There are also times where updates get stuck in limbo for no apparent reason, but if I go to the device and run the updates there are no problems.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simply put, JAMF provides 90% of the functionality that I use for Windows devices in Active Directory, but more streamlined and wrapped in a more modern GUI.

  ### 41. Effortless Device Management & Integration with Intune

Also, maintaining Jamf is easy, and onboarding new devices is a breeze. We've been using Jamf for fifteen years, and it has served us really well.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Nothing

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

The knowledgebase and community forums are very helpful and I am often finding a solution to my problems in discussions between other Jamf users. Jamf Support engineers are very responsive and quick to respond. Using the API integration has been great to get the exact information I need from our Jamf instance. Navigating the Jamf server UI is clean and not confusing.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The lack of support for certain functions at a site level. ie site level packages, scripts, blueprints, and site-aware API roles. I dislike receiving an AI response when I submit a support ticket to Jamf.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralised device management across 146 schools without completely removing agency from the on-site school technicians. Significant cost reduction per year compared to our previous MDM provider.

We have over 7000 iPads in our school district supporting 23 schools. The ability to manage apps while not having to be physically in a particular building is so seamless and fast. We also love that we can manage the look of an iPad with different configuration profiles.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Sometimes trying to find exactly where to turn off a setting in the Configuration profiles can be daunting.

Making it easy to customize the settings for all grade levels remotely.

The Blueprints feature is great for having repeatable and auditable workflows. It's fantastic that Jamf’s management platform and information system are always up to date, and I appreciate that Jamf is an industry leader and first mover in Apple device management. The initial setup was extremely easy, and Jamf was a great partner from first contact through onboarding.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Nothing

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

In my experience, setting up an apple environment with Jamf Cloud has been great. Allowing for a small customer to setup the preferred workflows and modify them quickly is a must for our organization and with policies and config profiles this has been easy for me as the Jamf admin. Scoping devices how we see fit is also a key feature.

I have had to migrate our entire environment from an on premise to Jamf cloud. Integrating all this was a good experience and the jamf platform has made this possible.

The cost has not been an issue so far for our organization. We look for stability over new quality of life features. Downtime has never been an issue so this has made the cost of Jamf something to always leverage with management.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

My biggest growing pain with the Jamf suite is Operating system updates and upgrades. DDM and native Jamf tools have shown low completions when attempting to use. Often resulting to 3rd party tools and scriptint to enforce and ensure completion of OS updates.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy management and overall view of our apple environment.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

The updates to platform and cloud connections makes the experience and ui navigation smoother. AI assistant is useful. Elevate brings a guided experience to the setup. Tools like Terraform bring quick build integrations. very infrequent downtime. consolidated SKUs for purchasing bundled products makes pricing appropriate.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

The dashboard for Jamf Pro could use some updates to bring more visibility into customizable fleet health data. App switcher works well but requires the OIDC SSO setup for the platform sign-on experience, which is fine but could be refined to a more streamlined pull of server objects into one location.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It can bring enterprise success stories to SMB. one of the best paths to achieving compliance within regulated industries, cybersecurity insurance requirements, and regulatory considerations.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

The interface in Jamf is really great and seems to be getting better over time, making it easier to use compared to other products I've tried. I find the interface more flexible than other mobile device management systems, offering more features and configurations, giving me more freedom with my devices. I especially appreciate the ability to deploy an app to just one single device which is not possible with Intune, making Jamf much more seamless and easy to use for that purpose.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I'm still kinda new to Jamf, so I'm learning a lot as I go. I wish some things were more "canned" instead of having to configure them manually. It would be nice if there were more pre-built options to make things easier for beginners like me.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf simplifies returning iPads to a usable state, reducing manual steps, and handles single device deployments easily, unlike other MDMs requiring complex group settings. I appreciate its user-friendly interface and flexibility, allowing more configurations and less restriction compared to other platforms.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I really appreciate Jamf's configurability. Once I learned the fundamentals, I could set up everything in the GUI, and as I advanced, I could do things beyond the native capabilities of Jamf Pro, thanks to the training like the Jamf 400 course. The deep integration with Apple means that Jamf supports new updates and features on day one, which really simplifies our workflow. I also like that Jamf Pro allows us to address our specific needs, like creating daemons and scripts to prompt users to restart their laptops, reducing the manual effort for updates. This customizability and close integration with Apple are invaluable for us.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

There are some usability issues with Jamf that could be improved. As an admin, when I go into a policy and see a script has been added, there's no hyperlink to take me directly to that script. I have to exit and find it manually, which is a bit cumbersome. It would be great to have a direct link in the policy to the script for easier navigation. This would streamline the process of reviewing and configuring settings in the Jamf Pro UI.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jamf solves the hassle of managing updates by supporting Apple features on day one, saving us time with scripts for scheduled restarts. The flexibility to configure advanced solutions without native support helps us handle specific business needs, enhancing our efficiency.

**What do you like best about Jamf?**

I really like Jamf's API capabilities, especially how it integrates between Jamf Pro and the Platform API. It makes managing our MDM fleet efficiently as an IT team, and as we move towards more advanced solutions like GitOps with Terraform, it just allows for seamless and well-thought-out change management. Additionally, I'm really liking Jamf's AI assistant right now. It's super helpful for quickly generating reports with context related to our instance and aiding in making changes. Moreover, the improvements and new features over time have always been beneficial for my team. Even though I wasn't part of the initial setup, I believe it was a seamless process. Overall, Jamf has always been great, with continuous benefits from new system improvements and features.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

I think there needs to be more clarity around some of the newer features and what version of the product you need to access them. It can be hard to understand what you do or don't have access to when you see all these new things coming out.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jamf to manage our MDM system, securing and maintaining compliance for our devices. It boosts our IT team's efficiency, allowing seamless change management and integration with tools like Terraform. We can efficiently support end-user productivity from one platform with autonomy.

We use Jamf Pro daily to help keep our fleet of devices up to date and performing at a high level for our end users.

**What do you dislike about Jamf?**

Learning a new system can be hard, but Jamf support and trainings are super helpful.

**What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?**
