## App Builder Reviews
  ### 1. Super Balanced AI-Assisted App Builder

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard W. | Web Developer, Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2025

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

We’ve tested a handful of AI-driven app creation tools, but App Builder consistently delivered the most usable “first draft” results. The AI-generated multi-view layouts, automatic navigation, and built-in data source creation saved us a lot of time. The image-to-app feature was surprisingly accurate too.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

The generated layouts sometimes need some fine-tuning.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It speeds up early-stage prototyping dramatically. We didn’t have to spend days to come with a nice outcome.

  ### 2. Secure, Behind-the-Firewall App Building for Regulated Industries

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** tori k. | community lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2025

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

At our company, we appreciated the same powerful WYSIWYG drag-and-drop interface and pixel-perfect code output (Angular, Blazor, React, Web Components) as the cloud version but fully behind our firewall. It comes with more than 65 UI components, starter templates, routing and Figma integration and instant previews all hosted securely on our infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

The setup requires working knowledge of Linux, macOS or Windows server administration and configuration of MySQL or MSSQL, which can take a while.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves strict enterprise compliance and data sovereignty concerns by keeping app designs and data completely internal. This makes it ideal for regulated industries like healthcare, finance, public sector where design/assets must never traverse the internet. We're now designing UI flows and generating production-ready code without exposing sensitive IP or using SaaS. That speeds up development cycles dramatically while simultaneously maintaining the highest security standards.

  ### 3. Developer Productivity Without Vendor Lock-In

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Angie R. | Tech leader, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2025

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

The drag-and-drop components speed up UI creation dramatically, while the generated code is clean and portable. I can easily switch frameworks. Also, I love that there’s no vendor lock-in.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

Some advanced styling options require diving into code after export. But that’s also a strength because the code is accessible and not locked down.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

App Builder enabled our team to accelerate the development and iteration of both internal tools and customer-facing applications, all while maintaining the control usually found in full-code environments. The platform's user-friendly interface and modular design made it easy for us to quickly prototype, efficiently test new ideas, and confidently deploy our solutions.

  ### 4. AI-Powered App Builder that Delivers Production-Ready Code

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** claudio b. | Proyect Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2025

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

The App Builder AI and code generation features make this low-code tool stand out. The fact that I got live previews so quickly and the ability to generate clean, production ready code for popular frameworks is great. Then, in just a click, I could publish it straight to GitHub and save a ZIP file.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

For more enterprise-grade or custom logic, App Builder may not offer deep extensibility. You still may need developers to integrate advanced business logic.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The low-code App Builder reduced development time and allowed us to go from brainstorm to an enterprise-grade app in days, rather than weeks. With templates, code generation, and binding support, we accelerated design ops and improved collaboration between teams and stakeholders.

  ### 5. As a Citizen Developer, I Can Build Apps Without Relying on IT

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** carlos j. | Tourism advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

I’m not a developer, but I was able to create working dashboards and interactive apps without writing code. The drag-and-drop UI, sample apps, and built-in themes made it easy for me to get started.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

When I hit advanced requirements, like complex integrations, I still need help from developers. But for most business apps, I can handle it myself.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It empowers non-technical staff like me to build apps for our department, which reduces the load on IT and speeds up internal innovation. We can create what we need faster without waiting in long development queues.

  ### 6. Design to Code in Minutes with a Low-Code IDE

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mario M. | Procurement analyst, Retail, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2025

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

I love how intuitive the WYSIWYG drag-and-drop interface is. Even if you’re not a developer, you can assemble UI screens quickly, build apps from scratch, and generate/preview production-ready code in Angular, React, Web Components, and Blazor. **What do you dislike about App Builder?**

While this low-code App Builder is great for front‑end prototyping and fast UI building, it’s not ideal for deep backend integration.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my case, it closed the gap closing design and development. I used the Figma UI kit which translated designs to code, reducing QA time and developer handoff challenges. Did that speed up MVPs? Absolutely. I didn’t have to spend weeks writing boilerplate code.

  ### 7. Pivot Grid Auto-Generation Saves Hours of Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ariel H. | Commercial director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2025

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

The Pivot Grid is brilliant. I just drop it onto the canvas, bind it to a data source, and App Builder automatically creates a pivot view for me.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

I’d like to see more advanced visualization options layered on top of the Pivot Grid.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It takes away the tedious process of setting up pivot reports from scratch. With its intuitive interface and built-in templates, generating complex data summaries now takes minutes instead of hours, freeing up time to focus on analysis rather than setup.

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2023

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

You don't need to be a skilled UX/UI designer or developer to create simple interactions by setting up states that are activated by events. I can quickly create animated interactive prototypes thanks to it. Instead of needing to repeatedly redo an element, the screen part allows you to specify it once and reuse it across the project as needed. Everyone can quickly learn how to use this software because of its low learning curve.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

The published prototypes can't be directly saved so that another person can use them and share them with them. Without creating a screen portion, it is challenging to duplicate an element.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When it comes to building complex prototypes, this tool is useful. It is simple to generate prototypes and create application screens. When creating storyboards, screen parts are quite helpful and save me a tonne of time. Our designs from Sketch can be copied and pasted, and we can animate our user interface in any way.

**Reviewed by:** James R. | UI/UX Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2022

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

The WYSIWYG builder was intuitive, and on par with popular visual builders I've used in the past. The idea was very exciting for me and it's nice to see how much the product has evolved.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

As a new user I found it difficult to import data to try out working with real data, and I had a hard time understanding the full offering of the app builder, I had a hard time seeing how this would fit into my companies work flow. I also wasn't able to figure out if custom components were able to be made. Coming from a coded solution with MDbootstrap I found it to be a bit too rigid.

The primary benefit of App Builder is the ease and speed of use. This was effectively demonstrated almost immediately in my personal testing.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

Licensing fees/cost to use App Builder is the obvious downside I see. Users within a team, corporately-funded, no problem; but, what about the solo, freelance developer? Too many attractive open-source and more affordable options in that scenario.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem / pain point Infragistics has targeted with the related product suite is the sum of both time + effort required by web developers, software engineers, and the like.

The app builder help me to solve many problems in app building such as the many proccess and the building app result is very easy

  ### 34. Great product for prototyping

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

It's easy for me to design to code and export the prototype into a codebase which makes it easier for my team to get started with further iterations. I would love to see support for more frameworks but its great in the present form.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

I would ideally like to see more docs and more sample applications to get started. As a user, it was tough for me to start with an initial design. People who have already used low-code tools might find it easy but not the folks who have no introduction.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently, it is helping me understand how I can present a prototype of a new project in my mind, without much coding at all, which is great.

  ### 35. Took a little time, but worth the investment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

That the Angular code was dynamically created once the design was done.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

It was a little difficult to get the layout at first, but after that is was relatively easy to build an application.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to quickly build and maintain a full application for recruiting and hiring. It is a little too early to reference the benefits, but we are encouraged.

  ### 36. An awesome app builder that saved us in crucial times

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

App building part of the indigo design is the best. We've used some builders before, but none of them felt so perfect. Indigo design has everything that you can ask for. It is completely cloud-based and there are tons of templates to start with. So if you are looking to build a prototype app without depending on designers and developers, indigo design's platform will surely help you. Moreover, the platform can translate designs of any file type into code, which is super awesome if you have some designs ready to try out.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

Something, where the platform lacks, is the lack of options. Even if you have some designs ready for you, the platform does not support all file types. For example, if you have a design file from Figma, you cannot use those files on the platform. Moreover, the output is always available in angular, so if you have familiarity with React, you'll have to wait a little to use this app builder platform.

**Recommendations to others considering App Builder:**

If you have a client-facing B2B development business, you'll surely love indigo design. Rather than spending a lot of time prototyping and creating applications for the test manually, you can rely on the indigo platform. The platform is cloud-based and offers % availability, so there's no chance of data being abandoned. It is a great platform to start low-code app development and use app builders to speed up development projects. Its the best thing you can find if you want to build projects based on angular.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before indigo design, we had to manually code all the prototypes that our clients wanted, and this took a lot of time for developers and designers. But since we've started using indigo. design, our prototyping time has been reduced to half. With the platform's easy-to-use design, or designers are now capable of creating bespoke designs, and bringing them to life using the app builder.

  ### 37. Good Design Platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2022

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

I felt like there were a lot of features that were good for a design app. Compared to others it was useful for what I needed it for. It was also very easy to sign in with my school account too.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

I felt like the process to get the license was a bit annoying but I don't feel like that falls onto the product. But I got it after I actually needed it. I think it generally has been alright though.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems I was solving were related to an app design and needing to fix a real world problem that may have arisen. I have realized that that applications and design are important to helping people have a smoother experience.

  ### 38. Easy to Use make a app without any help

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

no need to hire any professional it's easy to use and develop or change at any time. thanks a lot, App Builder

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

Nothing needs more marketing will help to customer.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

react website development

  ### 39. Helpful in completing a UX project

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2022

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

I like the simple layouts and designs that Indigo.design provides. It is easy to create and undo actions. It also easy to see the code behind my actions on the site I create.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

I would prefer if the layouts were more flexible. There are many options that I can choose from, but getting used to all the features took me a lot of time, and even more time to share with my teammates.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed Indigo.design to create a user-experience template for a school project. Using Indigo.design and picking out a template was much easier than building the website from scratch, and solved the problem of how my team was going to present our ideas.

  ### 40. Indigo Design Studio Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2021

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

I liked the fact that it was an easy to use interface and provided common features of an iPhone or Android which makes your prototype relatable and really come to life. Also the animation features really highlight your prototype and make it a very realistic GUI. The integration of the Cloud sharing is also really helpful you can access from everywhere and see your changes live.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

There was no option for a cloud based collaboration component (like a Google Docs type of sharing). I generally use Indigo Design for team projects and there is no functionality for collaboration unless you purchase a paid subscription plan.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to create a prototype design for the UI of our designed app. The benefits that came from using Indigo design is that it created a prototype that was able to be interacted with. This really helped our project to stand out and show the audience what the goal of our app was.

  ### 41. Great Start!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2022

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

The tools are easy to use and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

Missing features in the product, such as me not being able to edit a project while another is looking at it.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can easily create a model of a project that I am considering building.

  ### 42. Kind of nice, but can be improved

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2022

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

Drag and drop is a nice feature to have.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

i think some features should be borrowed from other design sites for usability and databases.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a nice tool for quick prototyping for the class.

  ### 43. Indigo.Design is a promising design-to-code with code generation

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam B. | Senior UI/UX Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

Straightforward to build a basic app with an intuitive UI for designers, easy to set up a responsive layout, and the documentation are decent.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

No Figma integration (it's planned though), several basic components are not available yet, limited customizability on most of the components and theme.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're exploring for a design-to-code solution with code generation for all platforms and Indigo.Design meets most of our needs. The biggest benefit of Indigo.Design would be to create a responsive layout that developers can utilize.

  ### 44. Wonderful Prototyping Software for Lo. & Hi. Fidelity Prototypes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** mohan t. | Sr. UX Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

You can do story-boarding and rapid prototyping very quickly using indigo studio. The screen and stage combination along with screen parts gives lot of re-usability in the prototype. Then option to add interaction based on a value condition for screen elements is very useful for prototyping complex interaction in applications.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

There is no option to de-link screens so that the any changes in default screen are not reflected in child pages. The scoping of application in browser is something that is difficult to explain to remote clients who expect responsive UI.

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building and sharing fully functional prototypes is a breeze in Indigo Studio. Love the fact that we can showcase almost every scenario using a single prototype. Additionally conducting a usability test is also possible now.

  ### 45. Indigo Studio is an easy to use software that can bring your prototype design to life

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2018

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

I like the ease of use and the ability to switch between and iOS layout and an Android layout depending on which platform your design will use. I also like that you can incorporate outside graphics and text if desired

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

I dislike that there is no option for cloud collaboration meaning that I could not work on the prototype with my team from different locations at the same time. That being said, it was also hard to integrate different screen designs if two people were working on them independently

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating a prototype design for a big data application in college. The benefits that I realized from this software is that we were able to create a detailed interactive prototype that we could show to a developer in order to create our app.

  ### 46. Good software built on a poor platform

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akshay C. | UX Designer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2017

**What do you like best about App Builder?**

You can build working interactive prototype in less than an hour. Provided you have paper prototyping done or sketches ready.

**What do you dislike about App Builder?**

Run on Microsoft Silverlight/ActiveX really buggy piece of software that you need to install. App can crash on highly complex prototype. The removed free version from their website and paid version is too expensive. By the time they launched expensive paid Apple had already switched from skeuomorphic to flat design, which made a 1000USD price very absurd.

**Recommendations to others considering App Builder:**

I loved Indigo Studio Lite but I think if someone wants to use a similar modern app, they can give Prototype.io or InvisionApp a go

**What problems is App Builder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can build userflows into interactive prototypes with ease. It doesn't make functional app, it makes interactive UI and good enough demonstration that can serve to explain and app or product idea really well.
