## Index.dev Reviews
  ### 1. High performing engineers who actually understand AI workflows

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kamal V. | Community Manager, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

We specifically needed engineers who had already worked in an AI‑first way and were comfortable with LLMs, agents, evaluation loops, not just “using Copilot sometimes.” The people we got had clearly done real AI‑powered development before, which cut down ramp‑up a lot. They could talk sensibly about prompts, data, and failure modes from day one.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

Pricing is mid‑to‑premium, especially compared to pure offshore, so this is not the cheapest option. You also don’t get dozens of candidates — it’s a small, curated pool, which feels limiting. For very niche AI roles, they sometimes take a bit more time before the shortlist arrives.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They let us increase engineering output without ballooning our headcount. Instead of hiring multiple mid‑level devs, we plugged in a couple of very senior AI‑literate engineers and got more done with fewer people. It’s kept us moving fast enough for investor expectations without breaking the budget.

  ### 2. Good fit when you need a reliable dev partner without a long hiring cycle

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Piyush P. | Sales Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

They sent a senior engineer who already thinks in AI‑first workflows and automation, not just manual frontend tasks. Within the first sprint they automated several manual campaign reports and built a small evaluation loop for our content‑scoring model, which saved our team hours each week and improved lead quality.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

Their intake is intentionally detailed — they want clear goals and metrics up front. That helped get the right person, but it meant we had to spend time defining success criteria before they started, which was a bit different from our usual ad‑hoc hires.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed measurable output from one hire (better lead signals, faster experiment cycles) without hiring a whole team. Index.dev delivered someone who increased our delivery velocity and owned outcome metrics, so we shipped a data‑driven feature two months earlier than planned.

  ### 3. Strong fit for backend and infra-heavy work

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristian P. | Software engIneer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

We do care a lot about performance, reliability and correctness. The engineers from Index were comfortable living in that world of logs, metrics, traces, distributed systems.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

They have quite a lot of opinions on technical choices and will question vague requirements. Thats useful, but if your specs are not well thought out, it can feel like friction. Also, thy are focused on engineering talent only; for design or marketing we still have to work with other partners

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They gave us a reliable way to add senior backend and infra capacity when customer demand spiked. That protected us from burning out our core team during big releases. And we didn’t have to lower our bar to meet hiring goals.

  ### 4. Helped us think more clearly about AI-first workflows.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

Transparency, first. I know exactly what I'm paying. No recruitment fee on top, no surprise charges mid-engagement and for a founder like me who is managing burn rate, that clarity is imperative.

The developer they placed is genuinely strong and proactive with excellent English, works well with our local team, and doesn't need to be managed closely. Index also does monthly check-ins, which keeps the relationship accountable on both sides.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

They're better suited to companies at Series A and beyond. Early-stage teams that don't have the funds or an established onboarding documentation or clear engineering workflows will need to do some internal work before they get full value.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We’re on a budget so it was a task to find great developers without compromising the budget. Index lets us hire senior engineering talent from Europe at rates that make sense — not San Francisco prices. We got the frontend engineer we needed, he owns the product area, and we've shipped on schedule since he joined.

  ### 5. CTO, Series B SaaS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex N. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

We needed a senior backend engineer for our core product. The role had been open for a while and we were falling behind on our roadmap.
What worked well was that we didn’t have to go through dozens of irrelevant profiles. The candidates we received were aligned with what we were building: distributed systems, API-heavy backend, real production experience.
The developer we hired integrated well into our team and now owns a significant part of our backend services.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

They’re not the cheapest option globally. If you’re comparing purely against low-cost freelance marketplaces or India-based staffing, you’ll find cheaper rates.
For us, quality and stability mattered more. We’re still saving around 40% compared to local senior hires.
Also, the intake process is detailed and takes time. They push you to clarify architecture, workflows, and expectations. It takes effort upfront, but that’s likely why the matching works.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Index.dev helped us close a senior-level gap without stretching our local hiring budget. They also removed compliance and contract complexity across countries. We don’t manage international contractor paperwork. They handle it.
The biggest benefit is stability. The engineer has been with us over a year and is fully embedded in sprint planning and architecture discussions.

  ### 6. Transforms ML Deployment with Expert Engineers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Soumi P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

I use Index.dev's AI STEM labs to ship ML pipelines and models into production, which helps our AIML firm build an ML team capable of tackling more ambitious projects. The AI engineers from Index.dev have a rare mix of theory and practice, having actually shipped ML pipelines and knowing what it takes to get models into production. This practical experience, especially with model deployment and pipeline reliability, is immediately useful in a production environment. Additionally, the developers from Index.dev are adept at adapting to our workflows with tools like Slack, Jira, GitHub, and Google Docs.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

The interview process with these candidates is inevitably deeper, which means more time on our side. That's more about the nature of the roles than Index.dev specifically.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Index.dev helps us assemble an ML team for ambitious projects, solving local hiring challenges. Their engineers excel in model deployment and pipeline reliability, balancing experimentation and shipping for immediate production use.

  ### 7. Aligned Data Engineer Profiles That Fit Our Pipelines and ML Workflows

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dip S. | Backend Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

We needed data engineers who understood both pipelines and ML workflows. Index got us profiles that were actually aligned with what we do, and it made such a clear difference.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

You still need to run proper interviews internally. Also, they focus mainly on engineering so when we tried to reach out regarding broader data roles like analysts, we were turned down. So we had to go through other vendors for such roles.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to fill in niche roles without building a full hiring pipeline. That saved a lot of time and helped us get our product on the roadmap before schedule.

  ### 8. Effortless Hiring with Top-Quality Engineers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naren S. | Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

I use Index.dev to quickly find and hire pre-vetted remote developers, which streamlines the hiring process, saves time on screening, and ensures access to quality engineering talent. It helped us fill a difficult senior role faster without compromising on quality or security expectations. What stood out most was how seriously they took security and operational fit from the start. The engineers we reviewed were not just technically strong, they also seemed comfortable working in a structured environment with clear processes, access controls, and collaboration norms. This made the whole experience feel lower risk than a typical marketplace-style hiring flow. The initial setup was very straightforward and quick, with a smooth onboarding process, clear guidance, and support from their team, making it easy to get started without any technical complications. Index.dev candidates generally adapted quickly to our stack and workflow, which includes Slack, Jira, GitHub, and Google Docs, without needing a lot of hand-holding.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

The matching process was a little more deliberate than we expected, and the intake felt quite detailed upfront. That probably helped with quality, but it also meant we had to spend a bit more time clarifying our requirements before moving forward. For very urgent roles, that extra back and forth can feel like a slowdown.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Index.dev to find and hire pre-vetted remote developers quickly, streamlining the hiring process and ensuring quality talent. It helped us fill a difficult senior role faster without compromising on quality or security.

  ### 9. Fast Access to Senior Engineers That Keeps Us Lean

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emma B. | VP Product, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

They don’t just wait for tickets. The engineers ask questions, challenge assumptions, and contribute during discovery. That shortens the loop between idea and shipped feature. It feels more like adding product-minded engineers than contractors.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

The first round didn’t fully match our timezone overlap needs. Once clarified, they adjusted fast. Also worth noting — you get a few strong profiles, not a long list. It’s curated, but different from traditional recruiting.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hiring is no longer blocking roadmap execution. We can start new initiatives without waiting months. It’s been huge for product velocity.

  ### 10. Great fit for senior backend and integration work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

We build developer tools, so our bar for engineering quality is high. The engineers from Index were comfortable working with complex APIs, SDKs, and integrations, and didn’t need long explanations on what ‘good DX’ looks like. They read docs, propose improvements, and think from the end‑developer’s perspective.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

They’re more mid‑to‑premium on price versus generic offshore options, which you have to justify internally. For us, the lower churn and better fit offset that.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hiring from Index.dev helped to keep our roadmap moving without overloading our core team or building a massive permanent headcount. It also means our internal recruiters can focus on a smaller number of truly critical roles.

  ### 11. Vetted Engineers Who Start Delivering Value Fast

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

From a product perspective, what stands out is how quickly new engineers start contributing real value. Because they’re vetted for both technical skill and remote collaboration, they’re able to participate in discovery, raise questions, and propose solutions early. That shortens the feedback loop between ideas and working features.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

I had to adjust my expectations around how much context they’d have on our domain out of the gate. They bring strong engineering fundamentals, but there’s still a learning curve on product specifics, which is normal.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They’ve taken hiring off the critical path for launching new features. When we need to spin up a new initiative, we can bring in additional engineers without waiting a quarter to recruit locally.

  ### 12. The best HR experience I’ve ever had - efficient, flexible, and reliable.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denis C. | MS SQL Developer, Data Generalist, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

I’ve been working with this company for 4.5 years, and I’m genuinely impressed with their professionalism and approach. They maintain a perfect balance between structure and flexibility - no unnecessary meetings, no redundant tasks, just clear communication and quick, very flexible, effective problem-solving. Account Manager for Developers Natalia is an absolute star - she stands out for her leadership and attention to detail: she keeps everything under control while giving you the space to focus on your work without micromanaging. A truly reliable and efficient partner.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

Honestly, the only thing I can complain about is not meeting this amazing team earlier. Working with such efficient and flexible people really changes how you see collaboration.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The company has been extremely helpful with administrative matters - handling payments and documents efficiently and always on time. Their reliability takes a lot of stress off my shoulders and allows me to focus on my work.

  ### 13. Index.dev engineers demonstrate strong expertise in regulated fintech environments.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nishanth P. | Business Head, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

I work in Fintech and its a critical SaaS domain. The engineers Index.dev matched had worked in regulated environments before so that meant less explaining for us to do and faster contribution by them. They understood the constraints.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

For niche roles, finding the right fit may take a bit longer—it’s essentially a trade-off between speed and precision

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to access domain-specific talent that wasn’t available locally, which in itself made the engagement worthwhile. Additionally, it eliminated the need to build a SaaS-focused recruiting pipeline internally

  ### 14. Index.dev Delivered a Strong DevOps Hire Who Reduced Deployment Friction Fast

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

We were looking for DevOps engineers who could own CI/CD and cloud infrastructure, not just run predefined scripts. The candidates from Index.dev all had experience designing and improving pipelines, and the person we hired cut our deployment friction significantly in the first couple of months.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

Because these profiles are in high demand, scheduling interviews sometimes took a bit of juggling. But we preferred that over sorting through a funnel of underqualified people.

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They’ve given us the senior DevOps capacity we needed to stabilize our release process and reduce production issues, without dragging our core feature teams into firefighting.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexandre W. | Co-founder & CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

The Index.dev team came highly recommended to me through Stanford StartX, and they certainly lived up to the expectation. I used their service to hire a Senior iOS developer, and they were both responsive and efficient, providing a large pool of candidates in a short period. The quality of the candidates was impressive, and their support in finding the right person was invaluable. The hire was so successful that the individual has now transitioned into a full-time role, with Index.dev continuing to offer support throughout the process. Daniela, in particular, has been incredibly attentive, promptly addressing any requests. We definitely plan to continue working with them.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

Their cut is above market rate for recruitment agency. I think they would benefit from being transparent on that.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

My experience with Index was good, apart from the fact that I was promised a contract renegotiation when renewing the contract and that didn't happen. So the only feedback I'd have is to try to not promise things you can't deliver on. But other than that, only good thoughts.

Putting me in contact with clients.

  ### 50. My experience with Index, finding me a remote software developer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian G. | VP of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Index.dev?**

The upside of using Index is there are no costs or fees to get started. I just submitted the requirements for the position I needed, and Daniela Rusanovschi immediately reacted. Within 1-2 days she gave me a variety of candidates with the ranges of their hourly rates and some synopsis of their capabilities. We then discussed when we could set up a time for a virtual interview. Daniela coordinated this and took into account everyone's different time zones and I was interviewing the candidate within days! Daniela followed up then with meetings and emails checking to see if I wanted to proceed with a contract with the candidate. She made this process painless and sent over a boilerplate contract that I reviewed and signed, and I had my software developer within 2 weeks. He was learning about my project and generating code for me within the next week. All in all a painless quick process to find me the developer I needed at an affordable rate. Index and Daniela are the first people I turn to augment my team and always will be.

**What do you dislike about Index.dev?**

There was no downside to using Index. I like their business plan on charging their fees inside the hourly rate, so this way it removes the risk to try Index. No up front cost is amazing, nothing to dislike

**What problems is Index.dev solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed to augment my software development team as quickly as possible. I turned to Index to see if they could help find me an "off-shore" software developer with the right experience for the right price. They and Daniela Rusanovshi solved this problem for me.
