I am sharing this opinion from the perspective of working with SOX-oriented companies and tools. Impero is very useful and well suited for organizations at an early stage of their maturity journey. However, the tool does not fully address more sophisticated testing and risk assessment needs. Searching for archived and completed controls can be challenging. After using Impero for an extended period, your activity history accumulates a significant amount of data, which means it can take some time to locate the specific control you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Impero has completely changed the way we manage internal controls across multiple entities. What I appreciate most is its clarity, structure, and ease of use, both for end-users and administrators. The platform allows for seamless assignment, documentation, and certification of controls with full traceability. There are no real downsides, but there are few areas which could be improved depending on your implementation focus, e.g. one control triggering another control, which is not possible at the moment or features for control-testing (which is being worked on by Impero, as far as I know). We have been using Impero since 2023, and it has significantly improved our internal controls. We have implemented Impero both for Financial Controls, Tax Controls and as a Month-end closing tool. The core strenghts of Impero is the ease of implementation only requiring a limited number of internal resources. Furhtermore, it has been easy to adapt for the organization as well as helping us both creating transparency and accurcy in our month-end process. It can be a little bit hard to follow up on incompliance. So basically if a control has been completed but actions needs to be taken afterwards. Here you basically need to handle these actions outside of the system.

Could be nice if you could built up hieracies in a tag

Could also be great if there were some kind of summurization functionality if you asses financial impact for risk

The fact that Impero is built on a user friendly platform is a huge advantage, and this makes the daily system management process easy and smooth.
