Sometimes it loads, but without displaying any percentage or loading progress, making it appear as though it has frozen. In some instances, this was caused by the video processing stalling, while at other times, it was simply due to the time required to process the images. I love how HeyGen allows me to create quick explainer and social media videos without the need to be on camera. The 'unlimited videos' marketing can be misleading because the best avatars use a premium credit system, which can burn through the monthly allowance very quickly on the creator plan. It takes some pratice to learn how to get the best out of HeyGen and therefore credits. I spent days trying to create avatars but in the end all the looks that I used came from a single video because they seemed to generate the best looks.. I guess it came down to how the light reflected on my skin during my video. Some scenes gave extra smile where not needed. Still more expensive especially for personal user and the payment method is available for credit card only, while ago I had using ChatGPT and some others AI service paid using some local wallet such as GoPay or ShopeePay, it's much more easier since many personal user like me does not have a credit card. Even though the image is realistic, but the movement is still a little robotic (unnatural). The interface is still a bit confusing, I still have to explore here, explore there, try here, try there, with some worries if I have step of mistakes. The performance has been good and nice. The main area that could be improved is the background removal. When I use a green background so I can replace it later in my editing software, the cutout isn't always clean. Some parts of the background still flicker or remain visible, and sometimes objects that should have been removed reappear during the video. The speech-to-video option. As far as I know, it’s currently the only app on the market right now that lets you upload your own audio and create a stable AI avatar with it. That’s the only feature I use, because it’s the only feature I need. Any B-roll material is generated by other AIs.

Onboarding was a bit of a chore, since it didn't let me test that function fully. so I had to choose a voice from the menu, that was annoying. the only way for me to test it, was to buy a month of subscription - thank god it worked out for me, because i really have no extra money for stunts like that. performance is good, no complaints there. I'd maybe like to have other options in terms of format, not just 9:16 and 16:9. also, the ai-avatar is still moving a bit stiffly, the instructions for movements nearly never work out. but the upload for the audio and the transcriptions always work out just fine, so there's a good balance of give and take Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I dislike that my movement instructions are always ignored; at this point, I’ve basically given up on them. Also, the look of the teeth—and the mouth in general—still feels quite unnatural, and noticeably so. If you start with a friendly-looking avatar picture, the moving avatar will probably end up looking clownish. If you start with a more severe look, the avatar becomes very stern very quickly. Right now, I’m mostly just glad this software exists at all, because it suggests that something better than Heygen is coming eventually. That said, I’m not excited about Heygen whatsoever. The price is too high for the level of quality, the tech just isn’t quite there yet, and I don’t like the way they intentionally misword things to pull more money out of people.
