What do you dislike about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

While the platform is very robust, the UI can sometimes feel a bit clunky when navigating between test creation, candidate reports, and settings. Additionally, it would be helpful to have more granular analytics or filters when reviewing candidate performance across multiple assessments. That said, these are minor issues compared to the overall value HackerRank provides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

I really appreciate how the HackerRank Developer Skills Platform detects plagiarism and prevents candidates from copying and pasting code from other websites during evaluations. It saves us time and resources by identifying candidates who truly understand the problems they need to solve and possess the coding and design skills required. By effectively eliminating candidates who rely on copying, it optimizes our initial screening process and ensures only capable candidates proceed to further interview rounds. "Essential Tool for Hiring Top Tech Talent"
What do you like best about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

I appreciate the HackerRank Developer Skills Platform for its extensive number of available tests and the wide range of skills that can be assessed, which significantly aids in recruiting by verifying candidates' technical abilities for various technical and data science roles. I find the platform's intuitiveness very appealing as it makes the process of navigating through it smooth and user-friendly. Additionally, the ease of sending assessments and reviewing scores stands out, as it streamlines my workflow, helping me to make valid recruiting decisions swiftly and efficiently, enabling me to hire the best talent available in the market for the job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

I feel that the HackerRank Developer Skills Platform needs more staff focused on preventing cheating. It's a concern that candidates might use a second device to access unauthorized resources like ChatGPT during assessments. To mitigate this, I suggest implementing measures such as requiring candidates to send in a photo of themselves during the assessment as a way of ensuring they are not using external aids. "Intuitive and Effective for Technical Interviews"
What do you like best about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

I use the HackerRank Developer Skills Platform to conduct interviews for software engineering candidates and appreciate how seamlessly it integrates coding questions into the process, allowing me to view interviewees work on code or to whiteboard concepts. I enjoy how intuitive the coding and the whiteboard features are, as they make the technical interview process straightforward and engaging. The coding part is particularly beneficial, as it supports many different programming languages and provides color coding, which enhances code readability and helps in assessing candidates effectively. "Streamlines Recruitment with Intuitive Design but Needs Improvement Against AI and Plagiarism"
What do you like best about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

I find HackerRank Developer Skills Platform to be incredibly intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to send challenges to candidates. In virtual interviews, assessors appreciate the ability to check existing templates with all questions and create new ones effortlessly for use during interviews. I love how straightforward it is to add a candidate's email and set deadlines, tailoring the process specifically to each candidate's needs. If a candidate needs more time or a particular deadline, it's easy to accommodate. The training available is also greatly beneficial, making it even simpler to use. The platform offers a seamless experience, allowing me to manage the recruitment process more effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

I face issues with the HackerRank Developer Skills Platform due to a significant leakage of test content, leading to many plagiarism flags. This is a concern as it affects the reliability and integrity of the assessment process. The emergence of generative AI has made it easier for candidates to use such tools to solve problems, which poses a challenge to accurately evaluating genuine coding skills. Additionally, while the platform is quite effective for assessing candidates familiar with competitive programming, it lacks functionality to assess other profiles. There is a need for assessments that evaluate cooperative skills and teamwork abilities, beyond just competitive programming skills. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great interviews if you prepare"
What do you like best about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

This platform helps me assess candidates coding skills. I also had my own hiring interview on here and now I am creating interviews in it.

You can write your own excersises to make sure your question is not leaked on the internet. You can share your excercises with other or create a template for your team from company or hackerrank provided questions.

My favorite feature is writing my own questions and being able to change the language easily for an excerise if it was written correctly so that we can allow the candidate to solve the task in their favorite language. I like that I can type into the code during the interview to help the candidate and have the best code pair experience. The candidate also sees my cursor and selection just like I see theirs so we can easily point to the code and discuss it.

As an extra, you can import some common dependencies essily such as apache commons if you need and the platform will complete your code and help you with the available functions on a method just like a regular IDE. Also it notifies you on suspicious browser activities. There is now also a possibility to allow candidates to use AI inside the interview, but my company does not have thaz add-on yet.

In my experience candidates are pretty quick understanding the platform itself, I usually encourage them to click the run code button and explain the most basic things to look at within 1 minute as everything falls into place. It is really great that the candidates' view is almost the same as the interviewers so we know what they are looking at. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

Creating questions is very time consuming, it requires a lot of iterations e.g. I write test cases and I have to load the question into a test interview to run the tests. But I assume that only people who enjoy writing questions would go there anyway, so if you are short on time you can just import from hackerranks library. It would be nice to be able to make corrections to my question on the interviewing page or any other way to make the editing closer to the testing.

Also if I want to send my questions for test to a colleague there is no really good way or I have not found it yet. If they are join it as candidates I have to let them in, if they are invited as interviewers they will see the solution and have a different experience. Also scheduling a test interview with adding timezone, email addresses etc is overkill. There should be one click setup for a test interview to test a custom created question. Also AI could review my question and write follow ups in the interviewer guidelines or correct lingustic mistakes or incompleteness in problem descriptions (this is the least priority because I can copy the problem to another AI for the same easily)

When searching for question to add to a temaple the filters always fall off between iterations, refeshes or going back and forth pages, i.e I am looking at my companies questions but when I click on the next tab I will again see Hackarrank library.

If an interview is templated it restricts importing questions outside the template or just typing out a new coding exercise in free edit mode. I assume it is on purpose, but this is really inflexible. As adding a new question to a template is extremely cumbersome if you are doing it at the first time. Create question (the most complicated thing on the platform and could take hours if you have never created a question before), then find you question with the falling off filters mentioned above and add to template (for which you have to request access from the owner), load question. It is not realistic if you have 30 mins before the interview. What is realistic is to allow adding an existing question to a template on the interviwing screen and allow the freestyle coding questions on templated interviews as well to reduce frustration. "Intuitive Platform with Useful AI Flags, but Needs Search Features"
What do you like best about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

As an interviewer, I find it very easy and intuitive to set up interviews and evaluate candidates on this platform. The user interface is straightforward and simple to navigate, making the overall experience hassle-free. I especially value the potential flags feature, as it helps me identify any possible misuse of AI during interviews. I use this platform frequently, and it continues to be convenient for a wide range of tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HackerRank Developer Skills Platform?

At times, not being able to schedule interview invites can be a bit inconvenient. I've also observed that certain other platforms provide a built-in search engine, which allows users to look up information without leaving the site. If HackerRank offered a similar feature, it would be extremely useful, especially for quickly checking syntax without having to navigate away from the page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
