Who is h2x pricing best suited for?

h2x's pricing is best suited for small MEP and D&C firms. G2 reviewers are predominantly small-business users across mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, and construction industries. These firms benefit most from h2x's all-in-one design and calculation capabilities, using it to replace multiple specialist tools and reduce overall software spend. One mid-market reviewer in mechanical engineering also confirms strong fit at that scale, citing fast heat loss turnaround and MCS compliance. G2 reviews of h2x suggest the custom-quote model accommodates growing teams, but the clearest value signal comes from small businesses running daily design workflows across HVAC, pipework, and building services projects.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of h2x?

h2x does not offer a permanent free tier. According to G2's pricing data for h2x, a free trial is available for teams evaluating the platform before committing to a paid plan. The trial provides a time-limited window to assess core MEP design, heat loss, and hydraulic calculation capabilities. h2x's paid plans, available via custom quote, unlock full project access, MCS-compliant outputs, AutoCAD and Revit integration, PDF and MagicPlan imports, and ongoing customer support. G2 reviewers consistently highlight the responsive support team and continuous feature development as key differentiators of h2x's paid offering versus the evaluation-only trial experience.

Is h2x considered good value for its pricing?

G2 reviewers rate h2x at 5.0/5 across the majority of reviews, signaling strong cost-to-value sentiment. Small-business reviewers in mechanical and industrial engineering explicitly cite h2x's pricing as a consolidation play — one G2 reviewer reports cancelling subscriptions to HAP and Wrightsoft after h2x replaced both tools. Another notes accurate bill-of-materials generation with custom pricing and discounts built in, reinforcing practical ROI. The only recurring value concern is missing plant equipment and certain calculation types, which some reviewers flag as gaps. Overall, G2 reviews of h2x indicate strong perceived value, particularly for small MEP and D&C firms replacing multiple point solutions with a single subscription.

"H2x, a great user friendly software package for mechanical services engineers."
    5/5
What do you like best about h2x?

The best part about H2x, beside their great software is that if you have a query or require help on a specific software item, the team respond an a timely fashion with good explanation or video assisting content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about h2x?

This item is not exactly a dislike, H2x software operates via Google and there is limited opportunities to externally back up a project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"In-Depth Pipework Modelling with a Handy 3D View and Plan Overlays"
    4.5/5
What do you like best about h2x?

Modelling pipework and pump duties for each job. I like the 3D view to sense check. The overlay integration feature is handy for when you have architects plans. This software has saved a project from a poor first fix and potential install nightmare. We were brought into a project halfway through after a certain manufacturers "approved external design firm" spec'd pipework incorrectly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about h2x?

It's not something I can do on site like competing software but mainly due to this being so in depth in comparison. I have been using competitors software on site for data collection and placements then transferring over to this if necessary. I don't use magic plan and neither do my surveyors, this adds cost to their job.

I would prefer more preset ASHP and cylinder details like other software I have previously used but I understand this is used for many differing technologies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
