There are always available all kinds of tools to analyze and manage your geographic information. ## gvSIG Reviews ### 1. Currently, it provides a complete suite, not only offering the Desktop version for advanced analysis, but also having its online version (cloud data) and mobile version (very good for data collection in the field). It is an open-source program that is also easy to install, and it can be used on various operating systems without problems. It is a very good GIS option. It has a variety of options for customer support, however, its response time is variable. It also offers data interoperability. **What do you dislike about gvSIG?** Its graphical interface is less intuitive compared to other GIS software, especially for beginner users. Particularly, I find that the options for cartographic output design are limited, which is why it is not the program I frequently use for this purpose. **What problems is gvSIG solving and how is that benefiting you?** Basically, it provides all the benefits of GIS (geocoding, georeferencing, data centralization, spatial analysis, image processing, cartographic outputs, among others). On the other hand, being open source, it offers technological independence to its users and total control over the tools. It also offers data interoperability, accepting the most recent standards and connecting to the spatial databases most used by professionals today. ### 2. Its is an open source software **What do you dislike about gvSIG?** its community support is smaller. for map making and cartography it is not good.There si not much support for lidar data.Interface is not as user friendly compared to other commericak GIS softwares **What problems is gvSIG solving and how is that benefiting you?** gvSIG puts your GIS data into the third dimension with its 3D plugin.One of the neat things is that you can sync your viewport and create fly-throughs. This is beneficial because you can know where you are on the map at all times ### 3. The output of the 3d scenes are great than any other opensource GIS desktop software that I have ever used. **What do you dislike about gvSIG?** It may be the User Interface look. It could be a little more attractive and interactive. Options of selecting symbology and dealing with the labelling properties could be improved. And I recommed to establish one plugin repository, where contributors can publish their tools for community usage. Hope, a lot of GIS users will get benefited through that platform. **What problems is gvSIG solving and how is that benefiting you?** All the fundamental GIS tasks such as georeferencing, digitization, data conversion, analysis, mapping, etc. Actually, I started using this software mainly for creating 3d Visuals when I was not satisfied with other opensource GIS software. And it made me to use this software for other tasks too. ### 4. It works on any operating system (Windows, Linux or Mac). There is a version for phones with andriod. Access to online digital cartography to perform data maintenance (update, modify, delete and add). The standard format (shp) is used by all the GIS programs, which allows the integration of the data generated with other platforms. It allows me to generate an accurate cartography with information based on points. It allows the incorporation of decision making at the managerial level. **What do you dislike about gvSIG?** The options for changing the layout of fields in the tables are somewhat limited You can not do the digital processing of the images. It does not contain a lot of symbology for the creation of thematic maps. It is very complicated to perform the coordinate grid. **What problems is gvSIG solving and how is that benefiting you?** With the vector-raster integration we can visualize the place of study and make the right decisions. With the creation of thematic maps we can carry out studies of specific areas. ### 5.
