Because it's a desktop-based application rather than a cloud platform, all of our sensitive contact lists stay securely on our own local machines. We can route our campaigns directly through our own SMTP servers, which gives us maximum privacy and independence without worrying about third-party cloud hosting. **What do you dislike about Groupmail?** Because it relies on your own SMTP servers or third-party setups, deliverability can be a headache if you aren't technical. You have to be really diligent about your sender reputation and server settings. The templates are great to be able to send anything from formal mailouts to fancy newsletters to a group. The ability to customize the mailout by incorporating the fields in a mail merge format makes it more personal and less likely to be marked as spam. You can even schedule mailouts in batches to different groups. The interface is basic and at first it took me a few tries to be able to successfully get it working but once you know you way around it is easy and very useful. Now it only sends in SMTP mode and their tech support basically says, "Microsoft made an update and now it doesn't work". Excellent software for newsletter management **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Executive Office | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2019 **What do you like best about Groupmail?** I like that there isn't a monthly fee, you can sugement your lists however you want without extra costs and you have so much control over design. **What do you dislike about Groupmail?** While you can use it without coding skills, it's better if you understand html to get the emails to look exactly the way you want it to look. **What problems is Groupmail solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was going to have to pay a fortune for a relatively small list because I needed it segmented in a complicated way that other services counted as multiple contacts, even though it was the same email address.With Groupmail you don't pay per contact. Once you buy the software it's yours to do with as you see fit. ### 32.
