Grammarly's pricing is best suited for professionals and small business users who write frequently and can justify the subscription through daily productivity gains. G2 reviewers across information technology, marketing, healthcare, education, and legal services report strong ROI when writing is central to their role. Enterprise teams benefit most from Grammarly's business plans, which add brand consistency tools and team management. The free tier suits casual users and students needing basic corrections, though G2 reviews of Grammarly repeatedly note the premium cost is prohibitive for students and individual users in developing markets. Non-native English speakers across all segments consistently report outsized value regardless of tier.
Grammarly's free version covers basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation corrections and is widely praised by G2 reviewers as genuinely useful for everyday writing. Paid plans unlock tone detection, full-sentence rewrites, clarity and style suggestions, plagiarism detection, AI-powered rewriting (GrammarlyGO), and advanced vocabulary enhancements. G2 users consistently identify the free tier's blurred or hidden suggestions as the primary friction point driving upgrades. The free version also carries heavier upgrade prompts, which multiple reviewers describe as intrusive. Enterprise needs are served through custom-quoted business plans that add style guides, team analytics, snippet libraries, SAML SSO, and admin dashboards not available on individual tiers.
G2 reviewers overwhelmingly rate Grammarly highly (4.5/5 average) while simultaneously flagging pricing as the top complaint, a pattern that signals a premium tool delivering real value but at a cost that strains certain budgets. Frequent praise for time savings, real-time corrections, tone detection, and cross-platform integration supports the value case for daily professional writers. However, G2 reviews of Grammarly consistently note that the premium plan feels expensive for students, freelancers, and users in price-sensitive markets like India, Brazil, and South Africa. Several reviewers mention ChatGPT and Copilot as free alternatives that now handle similar tasks, adding competitive pressure to Grammarly's pricing justification.

I like the suggestions Grammarly makes and the autocorrect functions. They're just superb. When I'm working quickly, Grammarly helps me to focus on errors, ensures they're corrected, and makes sure my documents flow well and look very professional. The initial setup of Grammarly was straightforward too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes using AI tools like Grammarly can cause you to lose a bit of the documentation. That's really frustrating. The idea would be that it worked in such a way that it was incredibly user-friendly and didn't mean that you lost documents. Also, the cost is a concern, as it affects how likely I am to recommend it; without the cost factor, I'd rate it a 10, but due to the cost, I'd say probably only a three or a four.
