As a beginner studying software development, building great-looking and functional programs is usually at the forefront of my mind while security is an afterthought. GitGuardian has shown me how bad that mindset is by highlighting the massive amount of insecurity code I put into GitHub such as API keys. This has shown me how important writing secure apps is and how tools like GitGuardian offer a piece of mind because human error is a real thing that can expose you to flaws that, despite your best efforts, inevitably slip through.
