## geoSCOUT Reviews
  ### 1. GeoScout, Offset Wells

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2021

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

Update intervals in a fast-paced activity environment.

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

Lots of tricks and shortcuts which need help rather than figure it yourself.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding offset wells data and verification of the exact surface location for collision risk assessment

  ### 2. Amazing software from which I learn something new every time I use it.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dilpreet K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2019

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

I really liked the ability to look at production data when evaluating reservoir properties for my petroleum labs.

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

It has a lot of features that can get very overwhelming sometimes.

**Recommendations to others considering geoSCOUT:**

It's a really good software to use, but there is a bit of a learning curve. But the features in it are endless. You can really do a lot with this program. I am using it at an undergrad level for things such as contour maps, net sand values, reservoir maps, etc... and I am really amazed at what it can do.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was using it to solve problems for my Intro to Petroleum class labs. Evaluating pools and learning the basics of geoSCOUT.

  ### 3. Junior Engineer

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2019

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

geoScout allows me to check into different modules separately, which makes things more clear. This is the best part that I like about geoScout. Also, there is a function called the area of interest, which allows me to jump to the areas right away.

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

geoScout charges in terms of different functions. For example, I need to pay for gDc additionally to import data into Mosaic to do economic analysis. And the way geoScout creates and saves templates is too complicated. I have to save the template into the local computer.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

check into the status of wells, facilities and pipelines. I don't need to do production analysis in Excel.

  ### 4. Great program for visuals, analytics improving

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew N. | Jr. Exploitation Engineer, Oil & Energy, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2019

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

Creating maps using bubble maps, creating shapefiles and visualising oil & gas properties is very easy with GeoScout. Creating development plans based on maps of production and injection is easy due to the visualisation tools in GeoScout. The well ticket is very clean and easy to find required information and the production analysis window is great for viewing individual well and/or group production

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

Some of the features are not as user friendly as they could be. An example would be when you bring in a well list and you would like to view a multi-well production plot, you have to click the checkbox beside each well. This could be improved if you were able to click one, then shift+click the last one to select all. Annotating on the map is handy, but sometimes not the most user-friendly.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use GeoScout to view our properties on a map, create production plots and analyse small-scale projects. For larger well sets, we tend to use Tableau to analyse production as it is easy to manipulate plots in tableau to show many wells quickly. GeoScout is great for creating summary maps and for planning future development

  ### 5. Great software

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2020

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

Availability of information, ease of use, great support staff

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

Some functions are hard to find, other than that all good!

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Complete analysis of area of interest with little additional information input from me

  ### 6. Geoscout is a powerful tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jake M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2019

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

I like the tools that are available in the software. It provides good versatility

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

I dislike the user interface. It could be made to be more user friendly

**Recommendations to others considering geoSCOUT:**

This software is very powerful and a good tool for finding wells.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been solving problems of locating land and associated wells that meet specific criteria.

  ### 7. Powerful Tool for Exploration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo L. | PhD Candidate, Oil & Energy, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2019

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

The GIS and well search engine are powerful..The export well header data and LAS logs functions are very flexible and user-friendly. There are modules for every discipline in petroleum, from drilling and well header information, through directional surveys, well logs, core analysis, well tests and production. The Qfind is a nice new addition, which allows users to access original reports.

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

Some of the embedded cultural data, such as field and pool polygons are impossible to export with an attribute table, so they could be used in an external platform. Some simple functions, such as "go to well" in the well ticket, are amazingly counter-intuitive to find.

**Recommendations to others considering geoSCOUT:**

geoScout is a powerful and flexible GIS for exploration, mapping and research. But you must be prepared to go through a steep-learning curve.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Compiling regional data to map the distribution of hydrocarbons in Western Canada Triassic strata.

  ### 8. I worked with geoScout while ago

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

I like the software but I would like to see more free training courses with longer time.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A lot of information My company needed it was gathered through geoScout.

  ### 9. Geologist

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2019

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

It’s easy navigation and access to projects.

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

Some of the code imports and re labelling graph titles.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

  ### 10. Excellent

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2019

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

Easy to use, fast loading time, easy access

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

Nothing. It’s very helpful, easy to navigate on, easy to use. Fast to learn if your a new user like me. YouTube also has short clips on how to use if help is needed or you can ask a colleague

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some lagging but some days are better then others with loading and freezing

  ### 11. Most General Software for Oil & Gas Users

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2018

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

Geoscout has really great customer service especially by phone. They're trying hard to consolidate all general data required for oil companies. Out of all the programs available out there, they're probably on the leading edge. The ability to print large, high quality maps is perfect.

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

The user interface is not intuitive. Sometimes key information is located in "modules" which have to be purchased. If you just can't figure out why something doesn't work the way it should, try holding "Cntrl". The training sessions offered to companies are also not very helpful, especially to advanced users. The graphing interface needs to be more functional, otherwise most users just export data from Geoscout and analyze it with a different software.

**Recommendations to others considering geoSCOUT:**

From a geology perspective, Geoscout is a better choice compared to Accumap. From an engineering standpoint, I find Accumap to be easier to use. However, once you spend some time getting over the clunky interface and learn the non-intuitive cues, Geoscout proves to have the better data and information.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding data from other companies, especially since Geologic recently bought Canadian Discovery.

  ### 12. Great functional tool for getting information on wells.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ujay K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about geoSCOUT?**

Being able to view all wells and facilities in the province is helpful for the projects I have used. It is relatively easy to use geoscount, but requires a bit of patience.

**What do you dislike about geoSCOUT?**

In high density areas, loading takes a bit of time, and it becomes a bit chunky, so ensure you have a powerful enough computer.

**What problems is geoSCOUT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Any well/facility related project often uses this software to gain more information.
