## Freemat Reviews
  ### 1. Independent efforts or low-profile diagnosis

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Usama Z. | Project Support Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Freemat?**

I was porting a simple data analysis script from Matlab when This familiarity proved to be quite valuable. It is built to the same degree as the structure of C Language which makes it extremely easy to learn C for scientific computations.

**What do you dislike about Freemat?**

I receive many error messages; they are mostly riddles that cause me many headaches to find out where the problem originated from. Similarly Freemat has a language similar to Matlab and its debugging code is not that impressive.

**What problems is Freemat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I found that because I had a little bit prior experience on working with Matlab I didn’t find it very difficult. Freemat is an open source tool which makes it ideal for home use or any organization that may not be richly endowed to fund research.

  ### 2. Individual ventures or low-profile analysis

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammad I. | Senior Sales Associate, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Freemat?**

I was porting a simple data analysis script from Matlab when This familiarity paid me a lot of dividends. It shares the same structure to the virtually indistinguishable degree, which enables one to easily learn C for the use of scientific computations.

**What do you dislike about Freemat?**

I get a lot of error messages, which are mostly riddles and give me lots of headache to trace where the problem emanates from. Freemat has a familiar language, its debugging is not impressive.

**What problems is Freemat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I found the fact that I was able to work with Matlab relatively easy I already had some previous experience. Being an open source tool, Freemat is suitable for home usage or any project with a limited amount of funds available for research.

  ### 3. Tackling in-depth scientific

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bambang P. | Infrastructure Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Freemat?**

I owe my success to MATLAB experience as it helped me switch to Freemat without feeling disoriented. Syntax resembles each other which makes it a snap to learn and use for the basic arithmetic operations and data visualization.

**What do you dislike about Freemat?**

In particular, when I was involved with more systemic work for example signal processing or more advanced statistical analysis, I realized limits frequently. I had to fall back to my coding skills and came up with my code to perform the unavailable functions that caused a drastic loss of workflow.

**What problems is Freemat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a free alternative, Freemat is just the right tool that allows you to perform detailed calculations, organize data, and generate basic plots. Here, I can chop, scrutinize, embellish data and operate in a great design, all within a well budget.

  ### 4. A research assistant, but like really cool and not too demanding

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christoph J. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Freemat?**

Freemat attracts me because of its simplicity. It does feel like your old friend who speaks a language similar to MATLAB, yet easier on the purse. I was so fascinated with data visualizations and numbers that I moved along so quickly I felt like I was the coding guru in no time.

**What do you dislike about Freemat?**

I had few MATLAB built-in functions in my toolbox resulting in re-inventing some custom functions. From the point of view of usability, I would downgrade Freemat as it is prone to crashes during long computations. The app may unexpectedly crash, and when you are dealing with large data sets and complex calculations, you can lose your unsaved work and this causes inconveniences which can be tiring. Only accurate coding is needed to make the results true but in the meanwhile, it is a small price to pay for its incredible advantages.

**What problems is Freemat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It lets me focus on what truly matters: revealing the cool stuff which is the hidden data in my data. Hence, you can go for it if you're looking for a no-cost, friendly and speedy way to explore the scientific realm. So, give Freemat a try. It were Freemat’s open source nature that changed the rules of the game. I could innovate and experiment with different approaches, prototyping solutions and running data analysis without incurring licensing cost.

  ### 5. Free alternative to matlab

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Freemat?**

It is an excellent tool for quickly developing and implementing scientific prototypes for processing data, and it offers a highly welcoming and user-friendly atmosphere. Although it is pretty similar to Matlab, it has the advantage of being free software, which is fantastic.

**What do you dislike about Freemat?**

Several functions in Matlab are absent from FreeMat. Having said that, you only have to have to be careful when you write the code in order to get the right results.

**What problems is Freemat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is practical to use because it is entirely free, and it may be extremely helpful for your company because it supports solving linear systems of equations using the division operator and supports comprehensive control structures.

  ### 6. Freemat has been very helpful in making the r&d initiative ms possible

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pawan M. | engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Freemat?**

It's ability to quickly represent complex mathematical equation and provide insightful results with a simply awesome interface makes it stand apart from its competitors

**What do you dislike about Freemat?**

Though the interface has been very user friendly still there some minor issues like symbols not getting plotted correctly are the ones which needs to be addressed soon.

**What problems is Freemat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting an opportunity to work with open source tool is always exciting. This is where freemat helps us where if there is something not working or you see a feature then you can quickly start contributing and improve your ability to automate

  ### 7. Good and Free alternative of MATLAB

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Freemat?**

Freemat's syntax is very similar to MATLAB, and since I have previously worked on MATLAB it was very easy for me to use Freemat.

**What do you dislike about Freemat?**

Freemat is not as mature as MATLAB. There are quite a lot of functions supported by MATLAB and other alternatives but not by Freemat.

**What problems is Freemat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use freemat for writing scripts to solve some mathematical problems, and other mathematical functions like plotting graphs, etc.

  ### 8. FreeMat review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Freemat?**

Freeware, available for Windows, Linux and MacOs. Plotting is similar to the to other software. It's very stable, fast and the GUI is amicable.

**What do you dislike about Freemat?**

Some functions that exist in Matlab do not exist in FreeMat

**Recommendations to others considering Freemat:**

Just another software similar to MatLab, it will never be the same, but for a free software it's worth to try it.

**What problems is Freemat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to analyze simple data, Solving equations is easy, excellent tool to find break even estimates in budgets, etc.

  ### 9. Freemat is a great alternative for MatLab.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Freemat?**

In FreeMat, I wrote my own cg functions because they do not have a built in pcg function. In FreeMat I was able to solve the system for a resolution up to 1,024 × 1,024.

**What do you dislike about Freemat?**

In FreeMat, mesh does not exist and we had to use plot3, which results in a significantly different looking plot. FreeMat lacks a number of functions, such as kron for Kronecker products,
pcg for the conjugate gradient method, and mesh for three-dimensional plotting. Otherwise,
FreeMat is very much compatible with Matlab.

**What problems is Freemat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using FreeMat as a substitute for the functionality of MatLab. FreeMat is most compatible with Matlab, since they use the same syntax and have the native capability of running m-files. FreeMat exhibits significant limitations on the problem size they are able to solve by the backslash operator.

  ### 10. Freemat usage
