This uses less memory than MS Office and Adobe combined when multiple files are opened. Also, there is less clutter on the desktop with having less applications opened while working with multiple files. The GUI is a little generic looking, but other than that, it's a great program. It has a fantastic reader that allows you to annotate, highlight and print. I can project technical documents, business reports, project proposals or research papers. The loading speed of the program is fast. It has very easy tools to use. I tried to print several documents and ended up restarting the computer to be able to resume the process in other software. **Recommendations to others considering FreeFileViewer:** This software is a file viewer at the same time music player. How often do you get a "free" piece of software that is actually truly free, not intrusive, and fulfills exactly what it claims to do?? Well FreeFileViewer does exactly just that, nothing less, nothing more. FreeFileViewer is a small sized program, with low resource use that simply opens and lets you view dozens of different file types. Need to open some weird video but don't know what to use? Throw it at it. Have to read a bunch of 300 pages PDFs but hate to use one of the many incredibly suspicious PDF viewers (Yeah I'm looking at you Adobe) that require gigantic installation file sizes and daily updates? Let FFV run it. Need to open a bunch of pictures that aren't your typical BMP or JPG? GIve them a try. FFV won't let you edid them. It doesn't have tons of super useful features. It's just a small package that will you view your file, just like it claims to do, and it's wonderful for it. **What do you dislike about FreeFileViewer?** It needs to grow, it needs to become an EPUB reader as well. What it does, it does amazingly well but it needs to replace more useless pieces of software by being able to read even more different file sizes. Having a small feature set is awesome, but something like "Full screen" should be a given, as it is, it won't allow me to view my files in full screen hiding the UI, that seems like such a no brainer. **Recommendations to others considering FreeFileViewer:** Just try it It's truly free, simple to use, very low resource use, fast and it just opens most of the basic file types (PDF included) without issues. **What problems is FreeFileViewer solving and how is that benefiting you?** FreeFileviewer lets me QUICKLY and without massive resource hogging view most of the different file sizes I use daily, without hassle, without pop up screens, without having to search for the appropiate software, without having to update it daily. With FreeFileViewer you can open and view text documents (DOC, DOCX, PDF), spreadsheets (XLS, XLSX), photographs (JPG, PNG, PSD), videos (FLV, MP4), audios (FLAC, MP3, WMA) and less common files, such as BING, DAT or CFG. It lacks options, showing a totally clean window where you can see the file in question and, at best, the number of pages. With FreeFileViewer application opens images, videos, documents and files of all kinds. In addition to visualizing it, you will obtain information about its technical characteristics. In some formats, you can edit the documents directly. With FreeFileViewer up to almost 200 formats it is able to open this program and without the need to install other applications. If this software manages to do that then it would be just perfect. I can open over 200 types of files extension as like images (jpg, png, psd...), videos (.mpg, .mp4...), audios (.mp3...) and even .doc, .pdf extension. The software is light, easy to download and use, and it is also free. You can make a money contribution any time you want as a donation to support the developer if you like it. Great software! **What do you dislike about FreeFileViewer?** I do not particularly dislike anything in this software but if I could improve something in it would be the interface. It could have a better design and show more options to perform some small tasks that are very useful as like adding a name on the image/file or some minor options to simply edit files like adding watermark and put some sort of protection in the file. **Recommendations to others considering FreeFileViewer:** If you usually work with large number of extensions, and need to save time and space in your computer, this software is the best option. In appearance it looks very old-fashioned. It also opens pdf documents, which is great because it's an alternative for adobe. It has open licensure, so independent contractors like myself can use it when I'm doing work between contracts. **What do you dislike about FreeFileViewer?** The visual appeal isn't the best - adobe reader looks better. Because its open licensed, some of the integrated features, like sigining pdfs, isn't available. I'd like to be able to pay for advanced features, if that option was available. **Recommendations to others considering FreeFileViewer:** Try it out.
