I like Forward Enterprise's mathematically accurate network digital twin that models real control-plane and data-plane state, which gives precise visibility of the network state. Its deterministic path analysis is great for accelerating root cause analysis, and the pre-change validation prevents outages by simulating routing and policy impact before deployment. The initial onboarding and device data collection can be more challenging in large multi-vendor environments. Model computation time increases with very large-scale networks. Advanced Queries requires skilled network professionals to maximize the value. The initial setup was very straightforward and structured for small environments, but the complexity increased when we scaled to multi-vendor environments and fragmented credential management. I like how Forward Enterprise gives me a live picture of all networks across data centers and cloud. I can see pathways and policy hits at a glance. It replaced a bunch of manual spreadsheets and ad hoc tools with one system that actually matches real traffic. For a Cloud Data Engineer like myself, the best feature is the Network Query Engine (NQE). Generally, when our data pipelines are broken as on-prem and aws nodes cannot communicate with each other we have to wait hours until the network team reports which firewall is blocking. However, with Forward Enterprise I can do a search on the network as if I am querying a SQL database. The idea is very powerful. It maps our entire hybrid set up completely. I can trace the "hop-by-hop" path from my local server to the S3 bucket/or RDS instance. And, the new Forward AI is extremely useful because I can simply ask in plain speak why a […] It saves us so much “Mean Time to Innocence,” because we can very quickly prove the problem is in the network and not our data code. The first process is a little cumbersome. You require all the necessary permissions and API access for every one of your cloud accounts and physical routers, which needs discussion with the security team. The NQE syntax is also somewhat proprietary. It is somewhat like a database but still, you need to invest some weeks in it before you can formulate heavy query perfectly.
